“Fantastic Stay”

The apartment and complex had everything we could have asked for. Garden City is close to everything and everyone was very friendly. The apartment was clean and tidy and well furnished - not luxury but for the price we paid we were more than happy there was even a Flat Screen TV for us to sit and watch British TV - which I did not expect. There were some really cheap places to eat out so we rarely cooked in the apartment but it had everything necessary for those odd days we ate in. It was also lovely to sit out out on our own balcony with a glass or 2 in the evening. There is a mini market on site but other than for odd and ends we went to the large supermarket 2 minute walk away. Try the Winning Post pub on the complex as the boy there are a real laugh. If you like Chinese there is an all you can eat buffet for just 8 Euros

There were two beaches within about a 5 minute walk so this was an ideal complex to stay. We also went to Siam Water Park which was an easy walk away.

The apartment owner was very easy to deal with and sent us all the apartment information, key details and local contact very quickly. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending to family and friends.

When we arrived on Friday 28th February there were no towels - which we had ordered, (these are not supplied in the price of the rental, you either supply your own or pay for them separately) upon phoning at 2pm regarding this we were told we would have to wait until the next day for them- so we could not shower/wash that day, also could not get the safe to work (again this was extra to the rental price) the brief so called instructions on the door were in Spanish!
When the people arrived the next morning with the towels, they also looked at the safe and discovered the batteries were flat, they changed the batteries and showed us how to work the safe, which we would never have worked out ourselves as there were no instructions. They informed us they would return the following week to change the linen and towels. After they had gone the first thing we wanted was to have a shower, but found the shower was broken we again phoned about this and were told nothing could be done until Tuesday as it was the weekend and the shops closed at midday and Monday was a public holiday, but we could of course have a bath!! The water heater was only small and gave 2 inches of water before running cold, (so that was useless) a brand new shower was eventually fitted on the Wednesday so for 5 days we were without a shower, we consider that this is unacceptable as there are such things as emergency plumbers!
The linen and towels were changed on Thursday 6th March and they were due to be changed again on 13th, but this did not happen - and were not changed anymore during our stay, we left on Tuesday 18th March.
As this is a private rental there is no maid service, and no cleaning materials etc are provided with which to clean the apartment unless you buy your own.
The lock security on the French windows leading to the balcony was very poor, the bolts did not even close properly.
The TV reception was nonexistent until a new black box was installed about 8th March.
I would not rebook/recommend this property.

I am sorry to hear of your disappointment and that Janet forgot to leave towels but she soon rectified the problem and she is easily contactable in case of any problems.

There should be instructions in English in the safe and I will certainly get this checked out.

I was actually on the island myself for a few weeks, while you were there, so I was keeping a close eye on the apartments.

I was in the apartment you stayed in on the day of your arrival, after Janet and cleaned and left, to check the apartment and everything was fine. The shower was certainly not broken then. Janet tells me the piece on the tap fitting (which turns it from bath to shower) was completely pulled out with shear force. (no mean feat) Tenerife is not like the UK with a B&Q down the road - most shops close Saturday midday and are closed all day Sunday. Plus unfortunately, as it was also a Bank Holiday on the Monday a suitable tap could not be purchased until the Tuesday.

However, I would point out that as the bath tap was still working you could still have a bath - and I think only 2 inches of water is a slight exaggeration.

I did not notice a problem with the bolts on the patio door while I was in the apartment. But I will certainly get this checked out - as being wooden and glass doors they can expand and contract in the heat.

You were there for 14 nights so you would have only received one linen change at the end of the first week. I do not state that there is maid service. This could be offered but it would mean the prices would have to go up considerably and most guests are happy to look after themselves. I would respectfully point out that these are self catering apartments and not a hotel.

Regarding the television. There was a problem on the whole island as the actual satellite in the sky had been replaced - most of Europe was affected. Garden City had to have a new satellite dish etc fitted so all the apartments on the complex were affected - not just mine. As you pointed out a box was fitted while you were there so you were only without TV for a very short period. I am pleased to report that all the televisions are now working properly and guests can keep up to date with their favourite UK programmes.

I consider my apartments offer excellent value for money. I would also point out that the apartment you stayed in is extremely popular. I have already had many repeat bookings from guests who stayed shortly before you.

I always welcome any feedback on the apartments and I am pleased to report most of the feedback I receive is very positive.

1st time we have stayed in one of Deanna's apartments.
Found our apartment clean and tidy, you just need to remember this is not your house so don't expect all the same amenities, yet you do get a good supply of cutlery, crockery, pots and pans.
An excellent Sunday roast is served at the Winning Post at very reasonable prices. :)
Apt has a flat screen TV - Was OK for the 1st six weeks BBC channels intermittent for the last two weeks. Not a fault of the TV more the fact that the hosting satelite is apparently being changed. The resort is lovely and can be seen on Google for photographs.
The two gents running The Winning post are a blast and very friendly.
The larger pool which is warm and clean but can get crowded, the smaller pool at the back was quieter as it seems to only attract adults. It is not 5 star but it is clean and comfortable. We were in apt 618 and the wifi works well on the terrace.
The place as a good base to see the Island.

Just back from a great holiday at Garden City. The apartment (618) was great and more than enough for room the 4 of us. It had everything we could need to make a meal - although didn't spend much time cooking as lived on salads and ate out most of the time - there was some really good cheap places to eat. The Winning Post on the complex was great and there was a great range right outside the complex.

The best supermarket is Mercadona about a 2 minute stroll away - lovely fresh food.

There ws a kids club for the children which was great and everything was well looked after. The apartment and complex is great value as it has so much to offer.

This was the first time I had booked privately and the owner was really easy to deal with and gave us clear instructions. We didn't have any problems while we were there and would definately recommended this complex and owner with hesitation.

Well this is the 3rd time i have stayed in one of Deanna's apartment i have found then perfect for the price at about £39 a night where else can you stay where it is hot for less. Found our apartment clean and tidy I have travelled all over Europe in many self catering apartments some good some bad. I can honestly say they are well equipped just need to remember this is not your house so don't expect the same amenities, yet you do get a good supply of cutlery and crockery just don't expect to cook a Sunday roast :) . Yeah found dust did seem to appear a lot but then it is a hot and dry place i didn't seem to find this a problem unlike some but then again I know how to clean a place up . Only had one problem but was sorted very quickly so can not complain about anything .Had flat screen TV but never switched it on as was on Holiday if i wanted to watch TV i would of stayed at home. The resort is lovely the gents running The winning post are a blast and very friendly , never used the gym so can not comment on that but did use the pool which is warm and clean but very crowded as it seems some get up at 1st light to save a space .Having just read the review below was a bit shocked that someone can complain without 1st trying to sort the issue . If you want 5 star service pay for the privilege and not on a budget as these are and BOY they are worth it . We have booked again for end of November and will probably go in April as we like the place as a good base to see the Island. Our usual holiday are cruises so we can adjust going to places on a different budget .

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and pleased to hear you had another good stay. Yes, the main pool does get busy during the peak months but there is the other pool at the rear of the complex which is much quieter.

Yes, the guys from the Winning Post are great fun and the pool bar is also very popular and both offer food at very reasonable price. With plenty more bars and restaurants right outside the complex you are spoilt for choice and with 2 sandy beaches within a 5 minute walk this makes Garden City one of the most popular places to stay.

Look forward to welcoming you back in November.

“WORST APARTMENT I HAVE EVER STAYED IN, BUT THE COMPLEX IS LOVELY, AND SO ARE THE STAFF”

Hi let me say first we love this area of Tenerife, and I can honestly say we loved the complex and the locality of it all the staff were friendly and we would go back here again. Thumbs up to the pool bar they all do a brilliant job and great food at a good price and everywhere is spotless Unfortunately we stayed in a bought 1 bedroomed appartment which the owner privately rents out. We stayed in appartment 618 from 7th - 20th July. I have taken lots of pictures and will update these as soon as i have down loaded them as it was a new camera.
Filthy was not the word for this appartment everything had long black hairs in in from the bed linen to the bath and even the cuttlery tray. The bedroom decor looked like the original from when it opened 25yrs ago and so did the bedding and towels! Towels were grey and thread bear all bar one and we paid for 8 at 1 euro each, the bedding had holes in and blood stain on the throw over and if you look at it this looked like an original from the time they were built, Matress cover was worn out to the point it was see through! The beds were like camp beds they were so thin you could feel the springs and hear them. We had to take out the extra blankets from the wardrobe for extra protection on the matress! Yak!. Floors were filthy and he bathroom you can see the thick grime on the tiles around the sink behind the taps, on the loo. The outside patio with one lounger, 4 chairs one tabl with a broken parasol that would not stay up and washing maiden were that dirty you would not dream of putting your clothes on them, It was not recent dirt it was a build up over time. The outside drain is all blocked with i dont know what. Maintenace was happening on the balcony above us for 4 days, so we had workmen and durst from 1st thing in a morning untill about 4.30ish, the mess was brushed up once by the work men and i think that it because they saw us looking at it all. The next door neighbour had a large dog which sleeps outside at night and an infant and they both had great lungs on them you could hear tem daily. We had one night out of 12 where we were not woken up by one of them, or was it because we were so tyred by then. Everthing you looked was dirty, everything you touched was sticky, wooden doors stained with the hand marks of time. There was a mop bucket, mop with a few blue/black strands of filth hanging from it, and small dust pan and brush which were full of hair to start with you will love that photo when i upload that, they are filthy and not fit for purpse at all!!!. The light was not working in the hall as you came in, no remote for the TV, a tv chanel guide would have been a nice idea to leave for guests. Plates and cutlery all needed washing before you used them. We just kept our plates we used out and washed them over and over, the cutlery rack was full of other peoples crumbs and hairs.
No black out blinds an infront of the bedroom a light came on when people walk past an iluminate your bedroom. The front room had two fold down beds (one of which would not stop up unless you lent it against the wall) and the curtains were sun bleached orange with no curtain liners so th light just shone through them day and night.
I have to leave it there now as i can feel myself getting upset over our 12 night stay, this appartment is not any of the ones that were advertised on this ladies web site. Ask for a picture of where you are staying and get it in a confermation email there are lots that are beautiful on this complex and we will stay with one of them next time as we will go back, but never agin with this lady. Fell free to contact me via tripadvisor as i can recomend some lovely place to eat and drink aroun this area. Hope to post all my photos soon :(

I am sorry to hear of the problems during your stay in the apartment. I have checked the bookings and the apartment was empty for some 12 days before your arrival. Usually if empty more than a few days the apartments are re-cleaned before arrivals as it gets very dirty and dusty in Tenerife - especially during the summer months. It looks as if the situation was worsened by the dust and dirt from building work going on above (a fact I was unaware of - or I would have informed you - the building work has now finished). The toilet is situated under the bathroom window and as this was open no doubt dust from the building work had settled.

I apologise for the fact that on this occasion human error means the apartment was not recleaned for your arrival. However, I understand that you made no contact with Janet (who looks after the apartments for me) during your stay. If you had contacted Janet she would have come back and recleaned and sorted out any other issues you had during your stay.

I always give Janet's contact number to guests and her details are also in the apartment with clear advise to contact in case of any problems. Problems do rarely occur but Janet is easily contactable.

To say the apartment is dated is rather unfair. It has a new kitchen and 2 new black sofa beds in the living room and all the living room furniture was bought recently from Ikea. The bedroom furniture is traditional rustic Spanish furniture - which many guests seem to like. A guest who stayed the previous month actually liked the beds and said they were very comfortable but the trouble with any mattresses is they are often not what guests are used to back home - some people have firm mattresses and others soft. I opt for medium mattresses for the apartments which seem to suit most.

I did not know there was a dog in the next door apartment - dogs are discouraged in the complex and I will let the community know.

I really cannot understand why you did not contact anyone during your stay so any issues could be resolved rather than wait until you got home to leave a bad review.

It is not in my interest to rent out unclean apartments and I would have rather you mentioned something at the time so we could have made sure you had an enjoyable stay.

I would like to point out that guests return again and again to my apartments and someone who has stayed in this apartment after you has already re-booked.
