We stayed at the Altamira apartments the last 2 weeks in May. The apartment was booked privately. The apartments are a mixture of privately owned and commercial properties. They vary in size, decor and equipment.

PLUSSES - The complex is set in a premium position in Costa Adeje, close to the pristine El Duque beach area. All areas are extremely clean and the pool area is excellent for a 3 star. Access to the beach is via a back gate and only a couple of minutes walk. There is a free wi-fi area, a nice cafe near reception and an excellent restaurant at ground level. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The big plus for us is the location. If you enjoy laid back, relaxing holidays in hassle free pleasant surroundings, this will suit you. If you are looking for late night bars, music and dance, turn left at the back gate and keep walking for 30 minutes.

NEGATIVES - Our apartment, whilst equipped with fans did not have air conditioning. The rooms were pleasant enough, but some basic updating would make the experience even better.
The pool cafe and bar opening and closing times seemed arbitrary, but this may change in busier times of the year.
You will pay premium prices for food, drink and usage of beach facilities (18 euros for 2 beds and large parasol). This is the compromise you have to accept for staying in what we regard as one of the classier areas of Teneriffe.

We normally stay at hotels but decided on a more relaxed and independent approach this holiday. We would certainly consider these apartments again. As a base they fitted the bill really well.

We won't recommend any bars or restaurants as trip advisor reviews are quite comprehensive and surprisingly accurate.

Having previously stayed further around the coast in Torviscas, we were looking to stay somewhere different for a well earned sunshine break in April. Having looked at a lot of potential apartment rentals, something about Altamira was attractive in terms of location and favourable reviews.
We were not disappointed- our apartment was on the top floor ( the sixth) and had amazing views across the sea. The perfect place for a sundowner each evening with the sun blazing down well into the evening. Bliss!

The pool area was very nice- plenty of sunbeds and with a good ambience. The poolside bar and restaurant seemed to keep erratic hours- never sure whether a cold beer by the pool was going to be possible.... could have been down to the time of year but who knows? As luck would have it, just outside the complex gate was a giant strawberry which contained an obliging chap selling sublime mojitos- who would have guessed?! It also proved to be a useful reference point on the long stroll back from Torviscas and Fanabe :-)
The apartment itself was good- just needed some small upgrades to the shower, etc but still of an acceptable standard. I would recommend this complex to anyone wanting a quiet base and stunning views across the bay.

Room Tip: All apartments were sea facing it seemed, but go for one on the higher floors to get the full view!

We booked apartment at the Altamira via Skyline Travel who were very helpful on booking not quite so on returning emails and was expecting a better standard of accomadation. The good points were the view, the pool areas was nice with three pools, good cafe bar and hairdresser on site with reasonable prices. Staff very friendly and helpful, lots of sunbeds and on the beach.
The bad points in apartment 620 are if you want to sleep do not book this apartment. No aircon and the beds are awful cheap you can feel the springs on sofa bed and main beds are so hard you might aswell been sleeping on the floor, you cant sleep and we have spent the past five nights awake. We left early and checked out and booked in another place. No storage to put food in kitchen if you wanted to cook, we booked this as we had a baby with us and wanted facilites to cook make bottles, but tiles looked dirty (grout was brown, seals yellow around workservices, fridge was good though, all we did is made bottles because of this. The apartment is tired, holes in ceiling light in bath not secure to tiles, mould on seal round bath, torn curtain lining.ect, What was nice that there was iron, mop seats outside on balcolny. Saw a couple of cockroaches but do not blame the apartment you get them in loads of places.
Mabe other apartments are a lot better I would like to think so, but will not return as do not wish to find us in the same predicament, which is a shame. If you want some where in a nice area this is lovley spot 20 - 30 minutes walk with pushchair to nightlife but a lovley walk. Most of local resturants near here on the front are very expensive as they all back on to the new 5 star hotels, so for a more cheaper meal you will need to walk or taxi to fanabe or puerto colon for five euros.
If you want somewhere in a nice area then this is a lovley place to be I would book early and go to one of the hotels in area and pay more money which is what we will be doing next time. First and last time in an apartment even if it is timeshare or privately owned as you cannot quarantee the level of comfort you require.
