Booked for my Mum to stay here as she booked after us and we were at a complex round the corner. Stayed here in 1999 and it was OK then . Was shocked when we arrived. The apartment was next to the top pool. We knew the top pool had been closed down due to a leak but the place looked like a shanty town. The ground floor apartment had metal doors in addition to the glass sliding doors that you had to lock yourself in with so this was a serious fire hazard but due to security you had no choice. The apartments were noisy at night time. It seems many people live there and some apartments look like they have been abandoned. It is a very cheap complex so if you want a cheap no frills holiday then fine. The apartment itself was clean with good facilties but the complex and safety factor really let it down. They also let dogs stay there and there is dog mess and barking throughout the complex. If this had been my first experience of Tenerife, it would be my last.

Room Tip: Don't book into a room by the top pool, the other areas that have been painted peach at least lo...

Our 5th time at Mare Verde & 1st time in this apartment on Fase 1, 1st floor. An immaculate, well proportioned & well equipped apartment. We noticed that all the work was completed on this Fase but never looked up on to Fase 3, all the paintwork had been finished on the apartments, which are now a sandy / buff colour & looked good. The complex was very busy but still had plenty of sun loungers, at 1.50 euros per day, to be got. Strangely, we only seen one cat throughout our 1 weeks stay but a bonus was that we had only seen one cockroach & that was a dead one!! The Tiki bar looked a bit 'Lived in' but was good for our requirements, as were the people who ran it & the food / snacks. The weather was, as it should be for this time of year, all sun & a few odd clouds that soon dissolved in the heat, once clear of the mountains, A very enjoyable stay & we will continue to come here & the other apartment we have rented on this Fase as & when they become available for years to come. Centrally located for easy access to buses, restaurants, bars & beach...Roll on October. Enjoy!!

Room Tip: Only go onto Fase 1 or 2

Me and my partner have just returned from Mare Verde we had an apartment on phase 3 which is the worst of the complex the apartment itself was ok it had everything we needed. The main pool where we were staying adjacent to the apartment had been drained because of cracks and leaking and I can not see this been fixed in the near future I heard while there that it will be November before a decision is made about this pool. The pool is not properly cordoned off and on more than one occasion we witnessed children playing around this empty pool which is dangerous if they had to fall in as its very deep. Phase 3 seems to be mainly a residential area and most of the apartments there have not been lived in for sometime and you can see the electrics hanging from the outside walls of them when you pass them. Phase 1 and 2 have been refurbished and look ok but even the pools there had tiles coming off them also there are a lot of cats and dogs on the complex and you can smell where the cats have been going to the toilet throughout the complex. We would never return to the Mare Verde and especially phase 3 which is run down and dirty and no holiday atmosphere at all we were very disappointed.

we rented an apartment on phase one, the location was good for us, near buses shops and restaurants. The apartment was clean and quiet and well equiped. The complex was under refurbishment so the pools were not in use, this did not bother us however it lacked a pool bar and an atmoshere with nobody out sunbathing. We have booked elsewhere next year in tenerife as this apartment is booked up for three months a year in advance.

Room Tip: try to book an apartment with residential neighbours as they look after the walkways.

I had read some dreadful reviews about this place before we went and had very low expectations, which thankfully were not fulfilled. Yes, the place needs a little maintenance but it is a big complex and there will always be areas of it that does...bit like the fourth bridge !!! The narrow part of the swimming pool in Phase 1 was undergoing renovation whilst we were there and it will look lovely when its done, but they do work at "Spanish " rate so may be a while. As for the cats that people complained about....we saw the same 6 cats all the time we were there, but not once did we see a cockroach (something that other prople where complaning about at their complex's). The cats did not disturb us and they are not strays either. This is a residential complex and the cats are someones pets. Another bonus was just how very quiet it was. At night you could hear a pin drop, so no roudy drunk holiday makers. The location is fantastic, especially our apartment on Phase 1 which we hired privately. Sun all day and when the pool is up and running , the sound of water too...will be lovely !! Didn't see any of the other phases, so I would recommend that if you re going to stay here, stay in Phase 1. Don't take too much notice of whinging people...lets face it how much time do you actually spend in your apartment anyway !! We went for a whole month and will be going again in 2013.
