“absolutely amazing..”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

We stayed in july 2012 and are only writing this review following reading terribly innacurate reviews from a few disgruntled guests whom , im assuming are either serial complainers or people who would be unhappy if they won the lottery..

This hotel is far from dated in decor.. in fact its beautiful..the staff were all amazing from the maids to the hard working and very visible managment.

the pool was not dirty despite the claims ive read.. merely it had a little sand on the bottom due to la calima (google it)

the food was varied to all european tastes and the rooms were spacious, clean and beautifully ornate.

i run a hotel myself in the uk and am pleased to see the negative comments are only around 2% for el mirador.. its simply stunning and i really hope i can return there one day..

Room Tip: if youve got the money go for a suite which enables access to the upstairs pool..stunning and with h...

Lovely hotel in a very nice position. The gardens and pool area are lovely and when we were there, mostly empty. Location is good and there are some nice bars and restaurants a short walk away.

The buffet breakfast was really good. Really nice freshly made smoothies.

Just a couple of annoyances. First, it's a really poor shower for such a nice bathroom. Fixed and really just a dribble.

Second, Internet access was, to say the least, patchy.

Just small things but just enough to prevent a 5 star review

Dear guest,

We would like to thank you very much for your encouraging comments on our hotel and staff. It is always great to receive positive feedback on numerous aspects of the hotel services and installations.

Regarding the incidence with the internet connections, we want to apologies once more for the inconvenience during the update of the software to make it faster. This uncomfortable situation is now largely solved and we are happy to be able to offer a smooth and quick connection.

On the other hand, we are sad to hear that you find the shower was not offering the desired pressure, and we lament not to have been informed about this during your stay. For our technical department, responsible for the maintenance and care of the installations it is an honor to may solvent any little failure that is produced at our Iberostar Grand Hotel El Mirador.

Further, we are pleased to read that you find that the room and public areas were immaculate, and that you could enjoy the gorgeous private pool and gardens as well as the privileged location.

We also thank you for letting us know that our culinary offer could largely satisfy you. The gastronomy is an important facet of our company and we do our utmost to please all palates. It is enjoyable to read that we could conquest yours.

Firstly the staff are great. Friendly and attentive, helpful and courteous without being too much up front.
As with many hotels the star rating system has to be taken in context; this is not a 5 star hotel (International) and nor does it pretend to be. It is an adult only hotel in a large open airy building. All rooms are suites - a large room with very large bed and a reasonable seating area and with a balcony. There are many pools, a bar, 2 or 3 different eating options. Breakfast is very good with a huge range of food which is generally well cooked and caters for almost any taste. We did not eat in e formal restaurant. We ate in the main restaurant once or twice which has a buffet for starters (both warm and cold and a good range) and for dessert (choice was not very adventurous but adequate) and the main course is freshly cooked from a choice of about 5 different things.

There is a spa is on the small side but perfectly adequate. The massage therapist I had was great and the prices are very good value. The gym is very basic but adequate.

If you like running you can run all over the area both on the flat along the coast as well as up into the hills.

The hotel is in Costa Adeje which is a conjunction of an extending coastal resort - check this out before you go.

Just back from a gloriously sunny warm week staying at the El Mirador - our first visit to this lovely hotel. Overall my wife and I were impressed with the accommodation ( a junior suite) albeit the room was cluttered with unnecessary furniture; with the extensive breakfast buffet and in particular the ever helpful and pleasant staff. Location wise it can't be bettered as it overlooks the best of the local beaches and is close to a very nice selection of restaurants and a few shops. The pool is excellent and is set in very spacious gardens. There were a few fairly minor negatives, most of which other reviewers have commented on, as follows:
At breakfast the "hot" pre-cooked food goes rapidly cold as the warming plates are ineffective, so best to get the chef to cook eggs etc to order.
The seats in the buffet restaurant are uncomfortable so grab one of the (few) cushions available.
The Wi-Fi is hopeless.
The lights in the bedroom take ages to warm-up - how weird is that?!

But overall a stay at this hotel is highly recommended and as you don't have to share it with any kids it is the best option available. We will return there next time.

Room Tip: The higher floors are best and a sea view worth the extra.

Our first time in this hotel but certainly wont be our last, We were on a "bed and breakfast" basis but did eat in a couple of nights sampling the buffet but we like to get out and about and try local restaurants. Breakfast was great, chef on hand to personally cook your egg from a poached to a fried. All staff were friendly and really helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We chose this hotel because of its "adult only" policy so it was bliss with no screaming kids and the usual child parent little chats! Absolute BEST of all (for me) the bed was really comfortable so shame on other hotels!

Last point, we never felt rushed or crowded (plenty of sun-loungers with ample seating in bar and lounge areas) and this helped make it a relaxing holiday. Will we be returning - a definite YES!

Room Tip: If you want a sea-view book early.

In general our stay at this hotel was very good. We would return, though I would very much hope by the time we come back they have resolved the few niggles.

Room:
Room was good- the decor and cleanliness were great, very spacious and great view.
Criticisms - we had a junior suite which in the main was great but the shower was rubbish. The shower head was tiny and static. Put some decent shower heads in please :-)
The Internet never worked in our room for the whole holiday, more annoying I had full signal for the Internet from the hotel next door (but no password). The Internet was patchy in the rest of the hotel, though for you IT geeks out there i think this was a dns issue but there seemed little appetite to reboot the router. the staff just acknowledged the internet was rubbish. As I have to be online for work it meant I ended up spending a lot on 3G! Please upgrade your Internet!!!
As others mentioned tv was rubbish but not a big issue.

SPA
Positives - none :-(
We do love the odd visit to the spa when on a relaxing holiday but here we were disappointed. Firstly we were never offered a tour, neither when booking or arriving for our treatments. My wife was disappointed with her facial. After our treatments I went to use the shower... It was dirty and when I turned it on produced brown water (little used no doubt but could be run/cleaned daily).
Look up in the spa pool and you will see a ceiling covered in dust/mould. Not very nice. Also black mould in the large Jacuzzi... A deep clean and bit of staff retraining could easily sort the spa out.
We would normally have 3-4 treatments on a holiday but as a result of the above we didn't rebook..

OK now the best bits-
Staff were great (spa aside) very friendly, helpful and attentive. Ultimately one thing stood out was they were led very well. The hotel manager had a regular presence at breakfast and dinner and not a day went by when we didn't see her. She very much took guest services seriously so I very much hope she is able to address the above mentioned issues.

Food - probably the best overall eating experience we have had. We booked half board and for the first time on a trip to Tenerife we were not disappointed by the food. Choice was good. Food was fresh and although it was buffet led the main course was served from a daily menu choice. The chef Pascal also produced a fresh special starter each day.

In summary this hotel came very close to being rated a 5, we will be returning and hopefully if they have addressed the issues we will be able to rate it that 1 mark higher!
