We called in at the H & J whilst boating on the Llangollen canal. They had a wide ranging menu and although it was perhaps slightly more pricey than a geordieboy was used to, it was not excessively so. We had BBQ chicken with bacon & cheese which came with salad, chips and a pot of BBQ sauce at £9.75. It was superbly presented and tasted fabulous

The bar & table service was friendly and efficient and we had no complaints whatsoever. In addition to the usual range of gassy beers they had some hand pulled guest beers on offer including Speckled Hen. A pint of lager and a pint of Speckled cost us £6.25. It was a pleasant evening in warm comfortable surroundings and 5 pints of speckled later we tottered home well satisfied.

we were on a weekend caravan rally at coronation hall at bickley moss, we decided to go out for a meal and as we have been to this pub before, [a good while back ] we decide to give it another go as we enjoyed our meal then, we were not disappointed, we both decided to have thick ham egg chips and garden peas, not only was the ham thick but plenty of it, infact I could not eat all mine, and hubby who has a good appetite couldn't help me out either, and the chips were beautiful, home made, and not to dry like some, with a pint and a half of lager for my husband to wash it down, and a glass of pinot grigio, plus a nice cup of cappuchino for me, the whole bill came to £30, well worth the money, we will go again next time we are in that area.

Came to this pub as my husband loves their beer bats where you can have three beer to try. We decided to eat here and was very impressed with the service and the quality of the food. The staff are very pleasant and the bar staff were very knowledgeable about the beers. It is a easy walk from the canal. We will be back again.
