We have just spent another Easter weekend at this campsite behind the pub. The site is pretty basic some hook up, quite uneven and sloping in places. The site takes dogs which is fine unless you get a barking dog whose owners ignore it. The food in the pub is excellent, recommended. We had a day without transport and were surprised to find that there was not a bus stop within at least 2 miles either way, with no pavement, not advisable with children. childrens play area ok but a little close to the car park and road, keep a good eye on them. The landlord and Landlady are quite invisible, which can be a good and bad thing. Overall a middle of the road camping experience but great food.

Stayed at Pub for one saturday night whilst attending party up the road. Arrive 5pm and recieved warm welcome. Comfortable double room with ensuite shower room. Comfotable large double bed. Poor lighting to room otherwise fine. Decent breakfast...no frills.Pub was very busy with lots of peaple eating what looked to be very good food. Great for an overnight stop.

This campsite is in a fantastic situation. It's handily located, with lots of local attractions within a stone's throw.
The pub has a great atmosphere - all exposed beams and very friendly staff. We had the carvery and were all agreed that it was excellent.
There is a little shop attached to the pub which has a wide selection of goods; no papers though and not a newsagent for miles.
There is one shower and one toilet for each sex. Both are very small; the ladies shower is adequate, though my husband reported that it was difficult to turn around ion the men's showers. There is a disabled toilet but no shower and a disabled person would find it difficult to access the showers as there is a step up into the base. There are no doors on the shower cubicles, just a double layer curtain and people come in and out to use the toilet whilst you are using the shower. The showers are hot and have a good level of power though.
Our main gripes were about :
1. The electricity - this cannot be Health and Safety acceptable. There is a normal cable (i.e. not armoured for external use) which is strung between the 8 electric pitches. However, when some stupid so-and-so draws more than their allotted electricity, the whole place is plunged into darkness - and more importantly, the TV goes off! The fuse box is behind the bar in the pub so we either had to go in or ring the pub to be re-instated (provided the 'offender' had switched off some of their appliances). One night the electricity went off a couple of dozen times - very fustrating when you're trying to do / watch something.
2. The pub rubbish is piled up with the campsite rubbish at the edge of the camping field - out of sight of the pub patrons but in full view of the poor campers. It is only collected every Wednesday - we were there at the Bank Holiday so you can imagine how much rubbish there was. The owners do burn some of the rubbish but this is also next to the camping field and as they burn plastic as well as cardboard and paper, this emits foul (and probably noxious) smelling smoke.
