Comforatble stay

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 23, 2013
The room at Nan Boutique is quite nice. However small refinements would be very good.

The Garden is well kept. Thumps up!!

I do not like the feel of Tiled floors, but it serves cleanliness purpose. The Aircon position point directly at your head, but after minor adjustment then it was fine. Bed is very comfortable.

The Shower should be stronger. The Shower area layout should be better to prevent water going every where when use.

Over all, this is what to expected from the non big chain hotels. You pay for what you get.

I would recommend this hotel any time.

By the title, you'd be mistaken for thinking this is a boutique hotel. It is a simple little motel. But having said that it is very clean and we had an acceptable 3 nights there - a good base for exploring the region.
The room was spacious but lacked in some basic items:
1. No wardrobe for clothes; you had to hang your clothes in a space in the bathroom. Not ideal for dampness or smells!!!
2. No headboard for the bed; watch you don't hit your head against a rough wall in the middle of the night!
3. Internet and TV were a bit hit or miss. You have to be a bit patient to get the internet running. TV had problems when we arrived but eventually sorted by the helpful staff.

Breakfast was ok, nothing special but a range for both asian and western tastes.

The staff were very polite and efficient.

Overall, a good place to base yourself in the area, but don't be fooled into thinking you are getting Thai boutique standards.

We spent two nights in November 2012 at this well kept, clean, and quiet hotel on a quiet street near the city center. The hotel is located just a few blocks from the markets and main business streets. If you have a car, there are several covered parking spaces, and plenty of uncovered spots for parking on the property as well.

We were checked in by a young lady and man; one who was able to speak English. There was no one available to help with our bags which is uncommon for Thailand. The room was large and had plenty of space, as well as the bathroom. Everything worked well, and we had no complaints with the room.

We had dinner in their dining area which is above the covered car park/garage. The area would not be good for anyone that has difficulty with climbing steps. We were the only ones there for dinner, and we were not greeted when we arrived. The woman in charge eventually came to give us a menu, and took our orders. When we had a request during dinner, we had to get her attention from the TV show that she was glued to. We found the TV distracting for her and the service expected by diners.

The food was good as well as the breakfast. Again, we were not greeted when we came in for breakfast, nor asked if we wanted coffee or tea. The second night in the restaurant was a bit busier, and it was evident that the same server was not organized when getting the food, etc. to the people.

If we were to return to Nan, we would stay at this hotel. The only complaint was the service.

We've stayed here for two nights in the almost midst of October 2012 after a days’ journey from the Golden Triangle to Nan and before our next one to Chiang Mai.

We arrived at Nan Boutique Hotel after a more than six hours car drive. Then one expects a warm shower. No way, José... The hotel uses the old fashioned electronic boiler system which should mean right on the spot hot water thru an electrical heating system. However, there was some technical error thing in our bathroom system and for that matter also in the room of other members of our group... So that warm shower did not work during our stay. Meaning showering at this hotel is “refreshing”.

We had a large, nice, fresh, clean twin room. Although we made reservations for a double bedded one. Okay.. for two nights we do not make a fuzz out of that. We are just two guys who are happily and legally married.

Breakfast is nice, wide and in buffet. Eggs in any form or style in live cooking. Yoghurt is in tiny cute glasses with fruit. Bread (white and wheat) can be toasted and there is choice also a choise of salad as for rice soup. Coffee, brewed for the day..., and tea (hot water and a tea bag) are provided. All is situated under a nicely over headed by bamboo and a white tiled floored terrace. Cool and shady.

The staff is nice and friendly and the massage in the spa is very relaxing and a must after a long journey.

From the hotel one walks for dinner quite easily into the river area where the restaurants are. The city center and day market are also close by as well as a place to drink a decent cup of coffee. By the way, always use a laundry service close to your hotel when you stay there for at least two nights.

Nan is a real in the middle in nowwhere north eastern Isan Thai town with impressive temples though, one in the middle of town and one on larger ground at the other side of the river and that one looks like it could have at least some maintenance.

Nan Boutique Hotel is fine for just a night or two or three. At least it was for us. We'll stay there again when we come back just for the central location in town. It's an hotel like dime a dozen. However, there are not a dozen hotels in Nan.

This was a real gem of a find. Whilst looking for somewhere to stay for 2 nights in Nan, most of the places listed on TA did not look at all inviting even in spite of very cheap prices. An attempt to book on-line indicated that the place was full, but I decided to send a quick email to enquire about availability. A response came back to say that they did have a room for us and after sending my details they emailed me a confirmation.

On arrival I asked if they wanted any deposit or full payment in advance but they were happy to take payment on check-out. The hotel has 32 rooms on 2 floors (no lifts/elevators), a breakfast verandah (full breakfast was inclusive in the room rate), and plenty of parking space. There is also a gift shop and tour agency on the property.

The rooms are well-sized and, for the price, well appointed, brightly lit and very comfortable. Pretty much everything you could ask for is provided, - fridge, coffee-making set, drinking water, hair dryer, nice toiletries, TV with a small range of local and cable channels. The airconditioner was efficient and not noisy, although we did hear some noise one morning from the room above when the occupants were leaving. The only thing 'missing' was a room safe.

The staff were welcoming and helpful - we asked for maps and recommendations for places to eat. Bicycles are available free of charge - the hotel is about 1 mile from what I would define as the town centre (main temples, police station, museum) but if one does not want to venture too far away for food there is a well-patronised local restaurant next door and also a fun outdoors bar/restaurant right opposite.

Breakfast was surprisingly comprehensive, - an egg station, ham, sausages, toast, jam, salad, cereals, fruit, as well as asian-style offerings such as congee and fried rice.

We really enjoyed our few days in Nan and will definitely be back and when we do we will be booking this hotel - the few other hotels we drove past in town did not look even close to be as good.
