This was a real gem of a find. Whilst looking for somewhere to stay for 2 nights in Nan, most of the places listed on TA did not look at all inviting even in spite of very cheap prices. An attempt to book on-line indicated that the place was full, but I decided to send a quick email to enquire about availability. A response came back to say that they did have a room for us and after sending my details they emailed me a confirmation.
On arrival I asked if they wanted any deposit or full payment in advance but they were happy to take payment on check-out. The hotel has 32 rooms on 2 floors (no lifts/elevators), a breakfast verandah (full breakfast was inclusive in the room rate), and plenty of parking space. There is also a gift shop and tour agency on the property.
The rooms are well-sized and, for the price, well appointed, brightly lit and very comfortable. Pretty much everything you could ask for is provided, - fridge, coffee-making set, drinking water, hair dryer, nice toiletries, TV with a small range of local and cable channels. The airconditioner was efficient and not noisy, although we did hear some noise one morning from the room above when the occupants were leaving. The only thing 'missing' was a room safe.
The staff were welcoming and helpful - we asked for maps and recommendations for places to eat. Bicycles are available free of charge - the hotel is about 1 mile from what I would define as the town centre (main temples, police station, museum) but if one does not want to venture too far away for food there is a well-patronised local restaurant next door and also a fun outdoors bar/restaurant right opposite.
Breakfast was surprisingly comprehensive, - an egg station, ham, sausages, toast, jam, salad, cereals, fruit, as well as asian-style offerings such as congee and fried rice.
We really enjoyed our few days in Nan and will definitely be back and when we do we will be booking this hotel - the few other hotels we drove past in town did not look even close to be as good.
