I have stayed four nights at the Sukkasem Hotel in Nan.

The hotel is centrally located and there is an excellent Thai / Chinese restaurant next door.

The rooms are very clean, there is a very efficient electric hot water shower and the staff are very friendly although the English language skills of the reception staff is very limited. Wi Fi is free and reception is excellent.

However, I found the room to be very small compared to similar hotels in Thailand. There is no storage facility for clothes and no clothes hangers are available. There is a very limited selection of English language TV channels. Most importantly, the beds are extremely hard and it is like sleeping on a board, although the bed linen is very clean and fresh.

The Sukkasem has been recently refurbished but at the expense of room size. The communal areas on the other hand are very large. Also, there is no elevator so had to carry my luggage up five flights of timber stairs to get to my room.

Have stayed in better accommodation elsewhere in Thailand for the same price.

Room Tip: For quietness take a room at back overlooking the car park.

I spent about $15 USD per night and had an extremely clean room with a/c, tv, etc...
Refreshing after some of the accommodation one experiences in Thailand.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

Centrally located. Great Thai restaurant on the corner.

Beware of the "tourist information" at the bus station.
I had to demand the taxi meter be turned on. For a 5 minute ride that the meter showed 18 baht for, the driver wanted 100 baht.

That was the bus station "surcharge". The owner/ receptionist neg. down to 50 Baht but seemed unwilling to involve herself too much.

Tastefully decorated, cosy, bright rooms, an oasis to return to at the end of your day
We loved this hotel with friendly staff, although they were shy because of insecurities with speaking English. The manager/owner runs a shop 2 doors down and is very helpful and willing to answer any questions. He also speaks English perfectly. He kindly arranged for 3 duvets to be placed on top of the mattress when we complained about the beds being too hard. He has assured us that he will fix this problem soon. We stayed in the suite on the back side of the hotel.

Highly recommend Yota Vegetarian, Pizza Da Dario, Hot Bread, Huen Jao Nang (across the river and to the North)and the 2 restaurants adjacent to the hotel. Also renting pedal bikes was a big success, as well as our one day motor cycle trip North through beautiful countryside driving in a loop and returning on the new road 1169

Room Tip: We loved the suite on the back side of the hotel.

We had a good time spending 2 nights in this hotel.
The hotspots too see are nearby, 10 minutes walking.
Next to the hotel are 2 good restaurants and also 10 minutes walking near the hotspots Hot Bread where you can have very good breakfast and lunch.
The room we had was downstairs, the window looking at the parking and we did have a good sleep.
We took the small room for 500 bht and it was modern clean with very good WIFI.

Room Tip: In the back.

Clean, quiet, tidy room with double bed, air conditioning and hot water shower only $15. Room is small but spotless. Bed is hard. Flat screen TV and free wifi provided in the rooms. Located near plenty of shops and cafés. We enjoyed our stay here.
