I used to live in Glasgow and like it here a lot. The bluebell wood now covers a large area in May. Nice trails, crossing the West Highland Way and up to the visitors centre with good views of the Campsies. A couple of castles to view- check what they used to look like online. Plenty streams for thirsty dogs and a good café for owners....I noticed on Saturday it has a theatre bar, so drinks for owners too. Free parking at various points and a good garden centre by the visitors centre. I really like Mugdock, it gets busy, but dogs can run about without being too near the road. Been going there for thirteen years now.

Free car parking at the park - in the main one and in the smaller ones on the route in.

You can do the regular easy circuit around the water and the old tower - normal shoes/trainers OK - takes about an hour or you can do a more energetic walk heading out of the main walk at at the start of the West Highland Way - walking boots suggested here though & supplies to be taken with you.

There is a garden centre with nice grounds and small restaurant site at the main car park

A BBQ area which is private and can be booked for your party for a small fee.

There are a small amount of tourist information leaflets in the centre which also has free toilets.

Plenty of cute dogs are normally out for a walk. Check the Mugdock website for any events - as if you're not going to any of these then you may wish to go on a non event day as otherwise the car parks will probably be too full.

This is a good place to go for lunch - either in the cafe within the park grounds or in the garden centre. Lovely walk and an old castle. Also a good wee theatre with bar etc.

Lorna and I needed to fill a couple of hours last Saturday before picking up Debs & Cal and heading up to Skye and I recalled this park also had a cafe. Actually the cafe (Charlie's) was great but Trip Advisor doesn't list it which is a pain. Then we went for a long walk which was also really good fun apart from the piles of dog turd in little plastic bags dumped next to the paths by lazy visitors.

Anyone who likes walking about with or without particular purpose would enjoy here. There is a variety of things to see- castles, small lochs, moors, views, trees, nature, wee bar, craft shops garden centre and couple of cafes to finish off with cuppa or ice cream depending on weather. There is history here and space to wander, wee ones would like the playground space, though it gets a bit busy at kiddie time.... but there are other less structured stuff that all ages can do....running/sauntering about....
