“Great hotel with fantastic Location”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Great location with easy access to golden sands and warm sea. Excellent walkways in both directions with contrasting views/environment. Spacious, clean room, beautiful sea view from balcony. Safe costs €2.5 per day. Very good choice and quality of food. Friendly staff. Choice of two lovely pools. Excellent pool bar with good choice of food and drinks. Attractive, spacious public areas within hotel. Free wifi throughout the hotel. Reasonable bar prices.

Easy access to cheap public transport. Palma well worth a visit for €1.5 on bus 25 – bus stop at back of hotel. Close to airport – 7 minute transfer – bus 21, costs €2.5. Can hire city bikes for €5 per day – use the marked cycle paths - can easily cycle to Palma and back, have lunch, then cycle to Arenal and back, both on coastal paths with fantastic views.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor for great views.

My husband and I have just returned from a lovely holiday in Majorca now in June. The above hotel was quiet/central and right on the beach. The bus service behind the hotel was a plus - It cost us 2.50 Euro ea to the Airport and 1.50 Euro ea to the city centre. The promenade is wonderful with little bustling stores and sunsets at 9.30pm with temperatures of 30oC. Wonderful!

Spent from 16th May to 20th May here and enjoyed it.
Weather was terrrible with high winds for all 4 days but the sun was out all of the time.
Hotel was very nice and the food was fairly good as i was on a half board basis.
Room was very nice with a side sea view balcony, however the bathroom entrance was quite small.
All in all its close to the beach and the town of Can Pastilla and the airport but
not an excessive aeroplane noise.
Will be going back to this hotel in July.

Room Tip: Pizzeria space just across the road is very good for home made pizza.

My sisters and I visited the El Cid Hotel recently, staying on a bed and breakfast basis. We booked the holiday as a girls get together (we are ladies in our 50/60) not expecting a hen party atmosphere. We did not think we were coming to Gods waiting room.

The hotel is situated on the beach and is only 5minutes drive from airport. We paid 20 Euros for that short journey each way.. We had booked one room for the three adults but thought that we would have been allocated a family room; we had three single beds in a row with no room between them. We felt like the three bears.

We were not aware from information online that the hotel has predominately German clientele and we could not communicate with anyone. The cleaning staff was excellent and the hotel was kept to a high standard. The reception/bar/restaurant staff did not make eye contact and tried to avoid speaking to us. Entertainment was very limited with a “show” of three dancers on two of the nights which lasted about 15 minutes. The bar area was never busy. Breakfast again was a disappointment as it was suited to German tastes, fish, cold meats, and cheeses. We did not venture dinner after reading the menu.

In conclusion, I would not return to the hotel, but cannot dispute its cleanliness and location on the beach.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pool, best views and earlier sun.

We just spent a week at El CID, as a base for cycling the island, and we were very satisfied with the hotel.
Though it was built many years ago, it has been very well maintained and it offers two large outdoor pool areas, comfortable reception area, large lounge with nightly shows, pleasant dining room and other amenities.
The buffet breakfasts were the most varied and plentiful we have enjoyed in dozens of hotels throughout Europe, and the dinners offered abundant buffet choices. To those reviewers who thought the food was not up to their standards, I suggest they consider what they are paying. The posted supplement for breakfast and supper is 22 euro pp/day. I don't know anywhere else you can get all-you-can-eat breakfast and dinner, of such quality, variety and abundance for that price. Admittedly, buffet dining is not elegant since diners are in constant motion, retrieving their several courses. For anyone who would prefer refined and elegant dining, I doubt you can find it anywhere nearby since this is a very casual beach resort. Dinners are served starting at 18:30, instead of the much later customary Spanish hours.
The hotel has an outstanding and quiet location right on the beautiful beach, complimentary and fast wi fi, great bicycle storage, and several fee-use computers in the lobby. The reception staff were very helpful and housekeeping and food service staffs were pleasant and efficient.
On the down side, the beds were acceptable but not plush; they charge a fee for the room safe; and the balcony screens separating the rooms are not designed for security since anyone could easily step over them. (Privacy between rooms is not so much an issue since anyone on a balcony can be observed from the pool area and the public beach.) When we visited, the hotel had so many guests that unless you came to dinner in the first 20 minutes, you might have to return later for a table that has been turned over from earlier diners.
Overall, a surprisingly pleasant week's stay, and we recommend it highly.

We stayed here just for one night whilst on a cycling tour, and at the end of April, so review not really applicable for someone staying for a week or so.
The room, bed etc. were all fine. The food in the evening also was fine, with some freshly-cooked dishes as well as the buffet. The breakfast was very good. Nice beach just opposite

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view and on one of the upper floors to avoid noise from bars etc. at street level
