LOCATION
This hotel is based around 10 minutes (by taxi) from the airport and a 10 minute walk from the long golden-beach with bars and restaurants. There are several supermarkets close to hand.

ROOMS
We found the rooms small but clean with a compact but nice shower room. The room décor is modern, air conditioned and has double glazing and black-out curtains which totally block noise and light. The balcony had an airer and two chairs and a table. The beds were twin and comfortable. Smoking is permitted on the balcony but not in the rooms due to smoke detectors.

SERVICE
The staff were polite, friendly and willing to assist in anyway. The dining room offered a buffet breakfast and dinner which was basically good with a range offered each evening. The hotel bar was staffed by a courteous Bulgarian waitress and the terrace area was clean and well kept. Wifi is available throughout free for 1hr then 1EUR per hour after.

SETTING
The lounge and indoor bar area were a bit dull and some of the pictures were a bit 'odd' depicting Northern European country scenes. The pool area was exceptionally well kept and pleasant with mature palms and a waterfall.

*A courtesy room to shower was offered due to late departure

*There is a bus stop outside the hotel - the number 23 to Palma however we found this bus too busy and closer to the beach can be found the 15 & 25 services which are more frequent and bendy busses so easier to board (the 25 being the quickest service). OCT 2012 the price was 1.50EUR each way.

*The resort is mainly favoured by German tourists.

Room Tip: Pool-view rooms are preferable

We stayed on this hotel several times before and you can check our review from September 2009 "Outstanding *** hotel. All things are still the same but some things are better. One of the big pros is that they maintain the hotel very well. The refurbished the rooms to todays standard and they look very nice. New decision, new sliding doors in the wardrobes and a great plus are the extra socket outlets. There is a socket outlet nest to both beds now, above the desk, on the bathroom and one for the TV set, which is a little flatscreen now. The bathroom still is exactly the same as it was, but the room is just fine.
The elevators are from the dark middle ages but they still succeed to make them look like Brand new.

The hotel has Wifi now and you can access this for free for one our a day.

Another thing is the staff. First time e stayed in this hotel is about 10 years ago. Many of the old staff is still working here, so people are very experienced and of something goes wrong they know to hide it well. You never see the staff stressed.

prices are still more our less about the same, they have gone only up a little following the inflation.

So again e are a very happy couple staying in Cosmopolitan. Also read my 2009 review and you know all there is to know.

A well located hotel if you want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the beach, but still be within 10 min walking distance of the sea, lively bars and restaurants of Playa de Palma. It's also very easy to reach the beautiful city of Palma - just 20 mins on the bus. With the airport only 15 mins away in a taxi (less than E20) and no aircraft noise (?!?) - the location is great.

The reception staff were always friendly and helpful, particularly the ladies - come on the men 'smile'! Bedrooms were on the small side but spotlessly clean and the bathroom was adequate e.g. a poor shower but again clean and nothing to complain about. Very good maid service.

The pool area is excellent, plenty of loungers as well as lovely palm trees for those who prefer to read their book in the shade. We booked on a half-board basis - the buffet restaurant was fine - plenty of choice but not somewhere that you would have as the focal point of your evening. Having said that, as a package, it was good value.

The area is well loved by hoards of German youngsters - who were clearly enjoying themselves into the early hours...but never any problem. Other hotels in the vicinity seemed to have been taken over by them but the Cosmopolitan had a calm, relaxed, 'grown-up' atmosphere that was welcome. It felt like a very well run hotel - a solid 3 star - and we had a good family week away.

The rooms are pretty nice but the doors are very thin. We ended up on the first floor and were woken three out of four nights by people running and slamming doors in the middle of the night. I usually sleep quite hard but was kept awake 45 minutes each of those nights.

Breakfast buffet is pretty good but the dinner was a big disapointment, fried chicken and pasta with tomato sauce.

You get the feeling that the hotel want to squeeze all money they can out of you. You get one hour of Internet after that you have to pay. You cant bring any water to the pool, you have to buy 0.6l bottles for €2 if you want something to drink. If you want to weigh your bag it costs €1 and so on...

The location is a good five minute walk from the beach.

Staff is friendly and helpful except for an extremely rude guy in the bar.

Room Tip: Stay away from the first floor, they seem to put everyone who wants to party there.

We had a "sea view" twin bed room in the corner of the 5th floor - there was a big terrace attached to the spacious room, which we believed may be more used for travellers with additional guests, had a sea view that you could just about see if you looked hard enough. There were clothes racks (we used it to dry swimsuits), plastic chair/table. The room, though not cosy, was very practical.

The pools were adequate and enough sun loungers. Towels required 10 euro deposit and you get the money back. There were groups of German men (probably 5-10 in a group) which seemed to be everywhere in Playa de Palma and is unlike anything we've ever seen. On our 2nd day they were playing ball games and therefore occupied the pool. There were mainly (or only?) German guests at the hotel but it did not bother us. Most of them were friendly.

Restaurant had a good selection of food and half board was good for us (rather than full board) as the beach was 10 mins away and when we set out in the morning we don't usually come back until later that day. Local grocers near the hotel for water and other essentials. There were also many similar hotels in the same quiet, residential area.

During our stay there was "live" entertainment every evening: flamenco, dance group, guitar performance to a small group of guests, we actually quite enjoyed this! Wifi Internet was only available in the lobby and didn't stretch far enough to the rooms which was a shame but not a massive problem. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We have nothing to complain, it's an average hotel and you get what you pay for.

Room Tip: Pool view bedrooms may be better and cosier than "sea view" rooms, not sure if it'd be...

I can reccomend this hotel - very nice and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet very good with many choices. Dinner buffet also with many choices - nothing to complaint about. Rooms small but clean. Evening entertaintment every day - but not high standard. All in all - match between price and value.10 min. walk to the best beach ever - 5 kilometers of fantastic beach with toilets and café for every 50 meters. Very nice area - well kept, very clean and along the beach is restaurant after restaurant and everywhere you will find friendly staff. I can really reccomend this hotel and especially this area.

This is a very fine, well maintained hotel with friendly and proffessional staff. This is what you'll find at the hotel.
Situated: 800 m from the beach in a nice quied surrounding at Playa de Palma. Ten minutes from airport by taxi (€ 17,00)
Lobby: air conditioned with good seats.
Elevators: Out datet but well maintaind. Now and than long waiting times because of the absence of non intelligent computer software.
Room: Very tidy with a good proportioned wardrobe and good beds. Room is cleaned every day.
Safe: in wardrobe. Cost aprox. € 1,70 per day.
Airco: The airco is on every day you enter the room.
Socket outlets: Only two. One in bathroom and one for tv.
Bathroom: föhn: not available, shower is high on wall and not adjustable and there is a bath combined with the shower. Allways plenty of hot water, alltough the water pressure is a bit low
Dining room: Breakfast from 7:30 - 10:30 am and dinner from 7:00 - 9:30 pm. The dining room is nice cool and there is no irritating draft from cold airco's. The meals are good and there is a lot to choose from, so there is allways something you like. When you enter the dining room you will be shown to a table by the staff.
Swimming pool: the swimming pool has good proportions and it has a jacuzzi that you can turn on by yourself. Arround the swimming pool is a lot of space with more than enough sunbeds. You don't find people putting towels on sunbeds early in the morning to claim a sunbed. Allso the swimming pool is surrounded by a lot of nice and old palmtrees.
There is a small playground too, plus table tennis table.
Price indication: fresh orange juice € 2,95 - coffee € 1,20 - cocktail € 4,65 and a glass rose € 1,55.
Internet: € 1,00 for 15 minutes. Slow connection. Wifi available, but i've seen people wandering around with their laptop to find a satisfying connection.
Animation: During the day: no - In the evenings: yes, flamingo, DJ.

All and all, a good hotel with nice facilities
