Costa Volcan Apartments
Reviewed October 12, 2012

We were supposed to be staying at the panorama and were told that the toilets were broken, so we were moved to the volcan. We arrived late and the room we were given was so noisy we asked to be moved to a quieter room which to be fair they did this for us. A few days later we had a walk up to the panorama to find that this was not the case at all! Double booked more like? BE WARNED! Could happen to you sounds like a frequent occurence.
The Volcan was ok apart from the robber experiance, worth paying for a safe!
It was very hot in the room at night so invest in a fan. We had a poolside room, which was lovely.
The pool is a welcome cool from the heat very nice.
The pool bar is good, happy hour 6pm till 10pm a large local beer 1.80 eoro, 2.50 in the day.
Its only a short walk to a fab beach, which has a nice cooling breeze.
The main strip is only a short walk away with plenty of different bars and restaurants to choose from. Cafe ola is a real treat!
If you like indian food just up the steps, at the side of the main entrance is one called zaffron, excellant!
Would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Pool side as the far side is just above the main road with noisy bars

my mother stayed in these apartments shes said it will be the first and the last time she would stay there. On arrival the bus left them on a big hill and had to drag suitcases up further then down to the apartments. Rooms where tiny lifts broke the hole time no umbrella at poolside. staff was ok but other than that not a good place. two days into holiday the apartments where broke into and the man trying to escape jumped from balcony to balcony even my mother's one. i stayed in lanzarote the same time but somewhere else i was down a few times myself and wasn't impressed with what i saw. we spend the same money on our holiday ours was a palace compare to Costa volcan. she even had to spend days down with me at my pool and apartment as she hated being in Costa volcan. There was also no conditioning, and had too pay for a remote for telly and not even one English station on it.

after filling our fridge 1st day, started to notice things going missing, yogurts, chocolate, fresh orange etc, even our toothpaste went, maids have sticky fingers me thinks, after complaining at reception they basically said we were lying so told them no maids were to go into our room again, had to pick up clean towels and bedding from reception, strangely enough no other things went missing, paid for breakfast on line then when we went for b/fast were told an english b/fast was 1 euro extra, not the money but the principal...38 degrees but not 1 parasol do they have round the pool, a total joke if u have children and no shade for them, staff in pool bar were fine, all in all this place is a total no no, we went to another complex that we were at the previous year and sat at their pool all day, only slept here and that was bad enough, rooms are tooooo hot to sleep in and the music from the bars goes on all night........ give this place a wide berth

Room Tip: none.....stay well away

This is an ok cheap cheerful hotel. You get what you pay for in terms of room standards.
No A/Con makes for a stuffy night. The outdoor pool is good. Hotel rooms could do with modernising
The staff in the bar/restaurant are friendly/helpful, & the food is ok too.

Very dated, blew the lights when put on hair dryer only 2 sockets worked. Too hot to sleep as couldn't open windows on ground floor. 2nd day someone got robbed took phone money that was in daylight, they climbed over the balcony to 2nd floor which over looks the pool. Very noisy with all the pubs around. Only good thing we had great weather!

Room Tip: Try to get poolside

W e are just back from a two week stay in the Volcan. We had a ground floor room with a terrace onto the pool area which was excellent. The noise from Clancy's bar was very loud but the music stopped at midnight. Maid service was very good, rooms very clean. Security was very poor, when coming in at night the desk clerk would not even look up to see who was coming in. There is a bridge on the 2nd floor into the bar and this route was being used by non residents as a short cut up to the old town. We never put our room key in at reception. Safety deposit box is expensive but very essential. We would go back again but, a room on the poolside would be required again.

Room Tip: Poolside room is the best option.
