“GREAT location. Boring hotel.”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Depends on what kind of holiday your looking for to 'fairly' review this hotel.
If you want to pay all inclusive & exclusively stay in this hotel you'll be bored stiff!
If you want a cheap base it's perfect.
Cant fault the location, general food, cleanliness, meals & drink FOR THE PRICE...its adequate.
I thought the food was nice, very limited choice, but quality was good. My partner hated it.
My drinks were nice, local spirits, peach snapps (Archers) white rum (Malibu) etc, but my partner said the local beer wasnt very nice.
Staff were efficient/pleasant...but a little bit robotic, no personality.
Rooms were big & clean, but omg (you'll of read this enough) they NEED AIR CON!!!!
Pool area is ok, English music playing quietly all day, Sunbeds are reserved with towels even though there's signs up saying not to & there's no pool attendant to deal with it. But just do what we did, take the towels off!! People just reserve the sunbeds then go off all day!
Entertainment, we left to get away from it it was that bad lol, they must put it on to get rid of guests to stop them drinking the all inclusive :/
The location of this hotel is brilliant, bars, restaurants, shops, beach minutes away, just walk down the hill. Even the airport is close by.
We enjoyed going out :-)
Turn right at the bottom of the hill, sunset beach bar, IMO the best nights out, great atmosphere & we went on a trip they promote Go Karting, that was great, also next door to sunset beach bar the Red Dragon Chinese buffet, 6 euros, eat all you want, delicious. Further along all the beach water-sports.
Turn left at the bottom of the hill, Route 66 & Africa bars both lively with a good atmosphere.
Top tip, SOOO glad we took the advise of a local, turn right at the hill 20 minutes away on foot, 4 euros in a taxi, 5 minutes past the big shopping centre (with Zara etc) Mario's restaurant, omg their steak was the best ever! I doubt i'll ever taste one as good again.
So to summarise, hotel is 'ok' you get what ya pay for...the Ray Winstone lookalike def made my holiday more entertaining too :-)

Room Tip: I've read on here someone else commented on A block being noisy because of the Irish bar, we wer...

just came back from 2 weeks holiday at the Los Hibiscos 15th August we arrived at 9pm we never used the bus transfer it's 15 euros in a taxi from the airport and less than 10mins so had no Que at the reception and also had time to get a meal in the red hot restaurant. we were told there was no air con anywhere in the hotel. That night it was 33 degrees and was told by staff on reception it was in the 40's during the day.

Hotel Grounds: The hotel grounds are very clean and very tidy no mess at all.the staff are very hard working and said hello when you passed.

Pool Area : The pool is salt water which i hate but that's just a personal choice, also the water is very cloudy you cannot see the bottom even in the shallow end. SAFETY TIP : i seen quite a few people jump in the shallow end when they 1st arrived and it's only knee high there's no warnings of this. The shallow end is the end where the shower block is next to the street the deep end is opposite and is over 6ft but as a said before you cannot see the bottom. The pool area has only 16 parasols which are fixed to the floor there is plenty of loungers tho, also the pool area is closed until 9.45am so there's no towels out but there is people waiting for it to open and is like running for your seats on a budget airline also there is 2 gates so depending on which gate gets opened 1st is if u get a parasol or not. Also there's not enough room around the pool for every 1 so people had to sit in the covered bar area.

bar area: There's only 1 bar in the hotel and its next to the pool there's no limit to the amount of drinks you can get at once, but you have to use the room key to get your drinks so if somebody is in the room you cant get a drink. also the bar closes at 11pm which early but there's plenty of bars around the hotel.

entertainment : daytime there is nothing not even music the night time entertainment consisted of 1hr show at 9.30 a fire show a magic show and some kind of dancing show that was it no mini disco for the kids very boring we went out every night.

restaurant : is very clean but very hot and a bit disappointing really, very limited amount there's a small salad bar the hot meals consisted of 1 pasta, 1 fish and 1 meat dish and chips desserts was tinned fruit 1 type of cake or pudding and yogurt.

Rooms: Are very spacious but were set up for when the hotel was self catering there's a KITCHEN area but no microwave tho the fridge freezer stays on all the time which is good. the SITTING area had a LCD TV and a few English channels. THE BEDROOM with no air con was very uncomfortable there is 2 windows that open but slam all night so you have to shut them if there was shutters up instead of windows like in some hotels it would have been bearable
beds were comfy but only 1 pillow so used the winter blankets in the wardrobe to boost them up bit.
BATHROOM: was fine but the shower was the worst i have ever used on holiday a trickle at best hot 1 min freezing the next.

LOCATION: excellent 2min walk to the beach and main strip but there is a hill to the hotel and a few of the older guests did say they struggled a bit. there's 2 spars 3 pubs outside the hotel
the beach is stunning 12 euros for 2 loungers and a parasol per day. if you turn right at the bottom of the hill and walk up the road until you see a cafe called picnic cross the road to the beach that's were the shower and toilet block is for the beach. the hotel is right in the middle of the main strip loads of shops pubs and restaurants but just far enough away from the noise.

so would i go back to the Los Hibiscos not at the moment. Get some air con and some entertainment for during the day and for the kids on a night and get rid of the awful salt water pool. And it could be a great little hotel.

Room Tip: ask for the top floor for the sea views.

Just returned from 10 nights all Inc
First neg points
Really needs Air con
Pool area not big enough for the size of hotel
now the positive
Location could not be better
Food ok for a3* not a lot of choice but all tasted fine
Rooms massive if you want an early night ask not to be in block a as this is next to the Irish bar
Which closes after 1am and you can hear them cleaning and tipping empty bottles in the big bins out side then as you get back to sleep the dustmen turn up at 530am to tip the 10 bin on the st outside the spar then as you fall back to sleep your up again to que to get a sun bed near the pool it opens at 10am but we saw them queuing from 8am [sad].
I would not go back to this hotel is due to no air con and pool area every thing else was fine

Room Tip: Keep away from block a if you want a full nights sleep

My husband and i have just returned from an all inclusive 11 night stay at Hibiscos. Firstly i would like to stress that the staff here work very hard and were always pleasant, the apartments were very basic but spotlessly clean, and the location is brilliant. I am afraid that is all the positives i can manage!

The restaurant area (more of a canteen really) is a nightmare as there is no air con at all, not even one fan. The windows were open only very slightly and if you try to open them further a waiter will shut them as everything "blows about". The food was average for what we paid but trying to eat in the dining area was very unpleasant because of this. Also 9 times out of 10 there was no labeling beside the food so you have no idea what you are eating! The waiting staff run about like crazy and do a brilliant job but i dont know how they have any crockery left as everytime we were in there something was dropped and smashed.

The pool area is locked at night, and there are nowhere near enough parasols. There are 142 apartments and only 16 parasols, as the temparature was 48.8 degrees one day this is a real problem. The pool gates are opened about 9-45am and people start to queue at around 8.30am, once the gates open its a mad rush to try and get a parasol. There are not enough sunbeds but even if there were there would be nowhere to put them as the area around the pool is very small.

The bar area is awful, there is absolulety no atmosphere, it seemed to us that that they dont want you to get too comfortable as the less time you spend there the less you are drinking! The bar snacks are a few stale sandwiches which sit there all day wrapped in clingfilm, they are not in a fridge and in these temperatures i really didnt fancy eatng them.

We met lots of great people and the resort of Puerto Del Carmen is beautiful. We will definately return but most definately not to Hibiscos.

Well you get what you pay....there is no AIR CON (NB; the only 'real'concern raised) but its not 5 * however as per reviews, staff = great, pool = great but if you lose anyhting you struggle to 'see' it given its salt water and as such difficult. food = repetative but you ALWAYS find something (we eat out 2 in 14 nights only...and im tight !) room= very spacious. Heat = only issue if you didnt chose/want to open the windows quite simply. but the high light was seeing this amazing ray winstone look alike around the pool, he was truly 1 of a kind!! Not only did he have a gorgeous (im sure model) wife, but he would be cracking jokes, telling stories and inviting people to nights out. He truly filled those slow and quite moments of the day around the pool. it was an experience to be there when he was... All in all a wonderful and must be said a very economical holiday option.

Room Tip: higher up the more breeze...IF IT IS exceptionally hot!!

This hotel is value for money, but need to put air con in the rooms, pool to small for the amount of people staying there and the resturante is like a school canteen having to que for meals and drinks, the food was ok if you dont mind queing, rooms cleaned every day and clean towels, and staff very helpful.
could do with putting more seating near the pool

The apartments are very well located, the apartments and all areas are kept clean. The all inclusive is being extended the food is good not loads of choice but plenty to eat, and tasty, but signs are not always present to tell you what the food is, so this needs to be addressed. The drinks are good and staff are helpful and friendly, you have to take key card to bar to get drinks and go into restaurant, the snacks in day are very minimal just sandwiches or biscuits. My main problem was no air con in apartment or restaurant, it was unbearable, so I hope this will be included shortly. You can hire fans but don't help a lot we had temperatures of up to 44. The fan cost 16 euros but down the road is 6 euros to hire or you can buy for 13 euros. They have just started to do evening shows but only Mondays and Saturdays these were good, needs maybe children's disco and music in bar in the evenings to help atmosphere, also in the day aqua aerobics and water polo, as there is nothing going on. It is very good value for money 5 minutes to the strip and beach, situated up a bit of a hill, but not to bad. Taxi from airport cost 17 euro would stay here again if they added air con and had more entertainment.
