Me and my boyfriend (age 20 & 22) stayed at the apartments between 19th - 26th June. Don't listen to any bad reviews. We went with low cost holidays for £230 each and didn't have any problems. The apartments are spacious and we had a sea view room - which i requested when booking the holiday. We stayed in room 116, the only problem was that our bedroom window was right next to a set of steps leading to other apartments so at around 2.30am i would be woken by groups of people coming back from the bars and not being very considerate of us sleeping. Other than that, there were no problems. The pool area is lovely and cleaned daily although we sunbathed on the sun terrace which is over a small bridge from the pool where you can overlook the sea.
When we checked into the hotel we were given an information sheet with prices of a safe and different things that you can hire. I think they need to edit the info sheet as most of it was wrong. The safe was 20 euros with 10 euros deposit but it says 20 euros deposit and it also said that you have to hire the sunbeds around the pool?? we went to reception to ask and she confirmed that you don't need to do this. I'm not moaning about this, i just thought i would give people a heads up. Also, we found out on the last day that the pool table in the Kontiki is actually only 1 euro to play a game and not 2 euros (which is what it states on the pool table) so i have no idea where our other euro coin was going every time that we played? Again, just giving a heads up to people :)
There are pleanty of lovely restaurants near the hotel. 'Hong Kong' chinese all you can eat buffet for 6.95 euros. Also, Chiquito's do a great full english with orange juice for 2.50 euros and they cook lovely food for dinner there. I don't usually eat meat on holiday but i couldn't fault any of the meals that i had during my week in Lanzarote. We ate at the Kontiki bar one evening and the food there was very tasty. The bar staff were great and very friendly.
'Cardiac Hill' - You barely have to walk half way up the hill as there is a side gate to the apartments. Me and my boyfriend had absolutely no problem with this at all. Not sure what all the fuss is about!!
On one of the days it was cloudy as there was a sand storm so we went to the Aquasis Spa - which was so relaxing. Its about a 10min walk from the hotel. 13.50 euros each for an hour and a half in the spa, i would recommend it.
Lots of lovely bars to have cocktails - Cafe La ola is very relaxing right on the sea front and has a swimming pool in the restaurant (not sure if people are allowed in the pool or if its just for show?) but it was a nice atmosphere. We also went on a bar crawl one night which was a laugh.
Overall i would say that Puerto Del Carmen is a great place for families and young couples. I would definately recommend the Kontiki apartments to anyone going to Puerto Del Carmen as it was a cheap but excellent holiday.
