In our experience, most of the positive reviews of this hotel are accurate. Our room was sizable and was kept particularly clean on an almost daily basis. We were on the ground floor and did have to deal with a few bugs but, other than one occassion, they were not cockroaches.

The area around the pool did get busy but the appartments also has a quieter, grassed, area with a number of sunbeds that was far more suitable for our needs.

The reception staff were more than helpful and friendly and I was surprised to read reports which suggested otherwise.

The pool bar wasn't great but as the hotel was right in the centre of the resort this didn't present an issue for us.

The one improvement that could be made woul be for the staff to more rigourously impose its rule with regard to the reserving of sunbeds. I am not talking abut securing a place whilst going to breakfast - there were occassions where sunbeds would be reserved from about 8am in the morning but not ever actually used.

Generally though this was a great hotel in a good resort and we would definately return to both.

Just back from a 10 day stay at the playa club. Overall satisfied. E-mailed just before we left and asked for a pool view even at late notice we got the room we asked for. Very helpful at reception during stay. Clean towels and linen almost daily. The bar could do with updating as other reviews have stated. Pool was great my 13 year old was happy enough as was we. getting a sunbed was a pain as the brits are worse than the germans for putting towels down early morning and not showing up till midday.. to be fair there was a lot of irish and dutch at it as well....Bit warm at night with no air con in room a lot of people hired fans with coped without with no problem.

My husband, daughter and I arrived at the Playa Club on July 26th for a 10 day stay. We were really looking forward to this holiday based on the reviews but when I arrived at the Playa Club we felt totally let down as the complex was not at all appealing. A small very basic entance! I had paid the €100 extra for a pool view on the second floor prior to arriving with my travel agent but was allocated an apartment on the ground floor with somewhat of a pool view. We did not find the man at reception at all friendly, rather arrogant. We would have much preferred an apartment on the second floor where Cockroaches would be less likely to appear. Apartment itself was nice and spacious but during our ten day stay our room was only cleaned twice as was our bed linen and towels. The pool area and atmosphere around the pool left alot to be desired! If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this is surely the place to go but did not suit my famiiy and I. There was no sort of music whatsoever, , no light entertainment and for those who love to sunbathe the loungers were very uncomfortable as there was no cushions on them. I had to buy two lilos for the duration of my stay otherwise it would have been backbreaking. I thought for the price I paid there would have been some type of music but Playa Club was nothing short of a boring, quiet, very basic complex, in my opinion a rip off for the price I paid. I had been told before booking that it was a 3 star but I can assure you Playa Club is a 2 key complex where one wil find this stated at the entrance. If you are looking for accomodation on the beach or very close, dont be fooled into thinking Playa Club is a 5minute walk away. Surely if you want to sunbathe amongst the rocks you are literally 5 minutes away but to actually get to the main beach your talking about a good 15minute walk. This complex is located at the front of the new town and for those that love shopping, be prepared for a long 40minute walk to the old town for the shopping center. Taxi's cost about €3.50 to old town but Playa Club in my opinion is much too far to walk from. On our second last night we were met by three large cockroaches in the morning so I would suggest if you are staying at Playa Club and get alloated the ground floor to put towels down at the end of your front door to avoid coakroaches. This is not how I like to enjoy a holiady! Over all I would not recommend the Playa Club to anyone unless you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday with no music. Do not attempt to go there if you are looking for something with a bit of gizz as you definetely wont get it here!

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room on the second floor if you can as you wil be prone to cockroaches on the gro...

This has to be the best apartment complex we have ever had the pleasure of staying in. On our arrival we were made to feel very welcome by the friendly staff . The reception area is very well maintained and has 3 computers from internet usage (1 Euro for 10 mins) Our 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious, clean, in good condition and had all the modern facilities eg fridge, toaster, kettle, kitchen, television etc etc. The balcony was so big that you could have played football on it. The cleaners called regularly and cleaned the apartment very thoroughly. The swimming pool area is well looked after and there was always enough sun beds for all guests, as well as a large quiet garden area with even more sun beds . The swimming pool was quite big and never goes over 6ft deep making it quite safe. The hotel bar/cafe caters for everything and is owned by a near by restaurant so any food you order is brought to you from there. 2 euros will buy you a substantial breakfast . A pint of ice cold mahou beer is 2.50 euros, not the cheapest by any means as just down the road you can get it for 1.30 euros. However the bar staff are brilliant and look after you very well.
There is a side entrance leading to a supermarket but you need to get a key from reception for it, very handy if your relaxing by the pool and want to pop out for a paper or snack
The apartments are on the main strip and just outside there are 100's of bars, restaurants. For the best value go to Goofys, it looks like a fast food joint but is anything but., a half chicken and chips with salad is only 5 euros and is freshly roasted. The worst place we went to was the Spanish inn/tavern further down the strip towards the old town. Avoid at all costs. The old town is lovely to look at and relax in but the restaurants on the main strip are better value in my opinion.
The small coved beach is right across the road from the apartments and the nearest 'main beach' is a 5 min walk away. If you go along the strip in the opposite direction you will also find many good bars, shops etc esp the Hawaiian bar and threes a small square with several good pubs here as well. Stay away from the pharmacy below the crazy golf course as they charge 3 times what the pharmacy in the old town does.
Try cafe la ola across the road, it only opened when we were there and is very nice with great seviews and good value.
All in all these apartments are amazing and have amazing staff. I cant praise it highly enough and we will be returning.

Me and 7 of my 18 year old friends stayed at the Playa Club for our holiday from the 27th June this summer and we had an absolutely brilliant week! The apartments are situated in a brilliant location right on the strip next to all the bars and restaurants, so there was plenty to keep us entertained in the evenings and during the day we enjoyed the beautiful weather by the hotel pool and at the beach :-) Went on one excursion organised with the rep to Rancho Texas which would have been a brilliant day out had it not been so hot :-( The rooms were well looked after with a cleaner near enough every day to change towels etc., in fact the only downside was the lack of air con, although apparantly you are able to rent a fan but we didn't feel it to be that bad so don't worry! Saw a couple of cockroaches at night but nothing to be scared about, and the few cats that were wandering about were friendly and I think if you leave them be you won't have any trouble at all. There is a lovely little supermarket which you are able to request the key from reception to access it from the pool which is handy and everything in there was really cheap. Pool bar served reasonably priced food and drinks too. Finally the reception staff were very helpful and polite. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and I would go back there tomorrow if I could! :-)

Overall was disappointed - aspaid a bit extra (compared to other options in lanzarote) expecting it to be a nicer option (based on other reviews/ the company website).

The large apartment complex is divided up in to:
- Complex A, which surrounds the pool and reception, has better wi-fi access and better rooms.
- Complex B , the opposite to the above!

THE GOOD
1. Location - 5/7 min walk to beach and near lovely restaurants on the strip. No hill walk at all (literally on the corner of a street off the stip).
2. Good housekeeping - well cleaned and towels changed regularly.
3. Nice pool and sun lounger area.
4. Good reception service - 24 hours.
5. Good size apartments.

Note: There are some beautiful cats (usually is in most complexes in Lanzarote) and they are not a problem at all, in fact they are so friendly and practically domesticated! There are signs asking you to feed the cats only at the back of the hotel ... but I was horrified to discover that this is a wasteland (where no cats go) -and may explain the cockroach problem in complex B (see below). So please feed the cats/give them water - their only way of surviving!

THE BAD
1. I had requested (via our Travel Agent) a room near the pool/reception - we got allocated a room furthest away from both in complex b! So advisable to maybe email the apartments directly in advance (as others had same problem!)

2. The Cockroaches (in certain parts of the complex)! On our first night we arrived back to find several in everyroom. Victor was very accomodating in ensuring we got a room on the second floor, in complex A (far nicer and no cockroaches). But I was shocked to discover that the following day they had reallocated our old room to another party! .. there is obviously a problem in certain parts of the complex, that requires more then a mere clean!

3. I don't mind no air conditioning, but the windows don't have lockable barriers/partially opening windows, to allow you to keep it open during the day. The windows are so big that anyone could literally jump in to your window, especially on the ground floors when people have to walk past your window to get to their apartment.

4. The noise. Nothing that Playa Club can do about this, but worth noting that (while there are noise window barriers), you have to keep the windows open at night (because no air conditioning). Most of the apartments (except for the ones directly facing the pool in the interior of the complex) face out to side streets, so expect some noise - wheely bins being moved, people coming out of night clubs (back up to cheaper apartments at the top of the hill) from 3am etc.

5. Bar - as some have stated, this needs to be rebuilt completely.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in complex A - email the complex in advance

When we arrived the place was clean and tidy, although there was no air con!
You can hire a fan for 17 euros, which lets face it you could buy one for a little more.
We seemed to have new cockroaches on a daily basis (our group had three apartments and all suffered the same). We have been to lanzarote 4 times and never saw a cockroach in any of our other accomodation, never mind on a daily basis.
The complex is very clean so i've no idea where they come from.

The Pool was a good size and the childrens pool very good for toddlers. Cleaned daily.
Pool bar was ok.
The location really is top notch, right on the strip and no big hills to climb unlike lots of places in puerto del carmen.
Overall a good enough place for the price, don't think i'd go back though.
