“Great value, and location.”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

On arrival we were taken in through the rear of the complex, not the prettiest of streets, but once inside the gates, well, very pleased. Pool and communal areas spotless. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas to be had. Check in was quick and friendly. We were shown along to our room, which was top floor sea view, 206. The view looked out over a near by bar then out over to the sea. The apartment was very clean everywhere, and very spacious. Single beds, but they were comfortable.
Location is bonus, only few steps and you are on the main strip, plenty of good places to eat, and all reasonably priced. We enjoyed Pinnochios, great food and service. As for having a beer, and wanting to stay away from the english style pubs our choice was Bagatella. Typically spanish, good prices and a great spot to people watch as everyone wandered past.
All in all a great value accommodation with location to match.
Thank you to all the staff at La Penita, lovely stay, and we will be returning.

The Apartment was spacious, clean and fairly well kitted out. Some oddities (e.g. remote for the TV kept at reception, creakiest sofa ever, lack of plug sockets and bathroom kept getting a weird urine smell) but it was a good base for the week, and served us well. We were in room 223 and were glad to be up a level from the pool and also in that block rather than the block behind where all the rooms opened onto the pool. Reception were very helpful and nice, pool bar was fine too - although half a pint of gin in a gin and tonic was pretty full on!!

We didn't think the photos we had seen looked much like the complex we arrived in - there are a lot more sunbeds, crammed in around the pool - it looks sort of oasis like in the photos we saw but actually it is just a complex in amongst other apartment complexes. The apartment complex behind La Penita was a bit rough looking with one apartment with their windows all boarded up, lots of kids running around screaming in it, and then a crazy lady walking around another one spitting on the floor!

The complex is right behind the strip, and well located for the Spar and two Hyperdinos as well. However the town just wasn't for us - Puerto del Carmen is very Lanza-grotty. We had been to the island before and loved it, but Carmen is just packed full of Irish bars, English Pubs, and rubbish looking restaurants where you will be harrassed to go in. We got pretty fed up of the town pretty quickly, but if you want to go somewhere for cheap rubbish food, and where you won't miss the X Factor or any football it would be fine. We were pleased we hired a car to explore further.

We had a good week for chilling out and not doing much, and we would return to the Island, but definitely not to Puerto del Carmen. If we were to go back to PdC for some reason though we would stay here again.

Make sure you eat at Antica Trattoria di Verona - fantastic food and no harassment!

We stayed at the penita in September just gone. It was just off the main beach side strip, with a great pool and small poolside bar. Reception were really friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything.
The room was basic, and a little dated, but we had everything we needed - plus bbc one and itv on the tv!

we have just returned from La Pinetta , would Deffo recommend ,apartment very large with everything you need ,lovely comfy beds if you need anything reception is very helpfull ,loads of storage space ,tv with good variety of channels...we have fantastic weather never had any problems getting a Sunlounger or parasol ,the only thing I would say is mattresses on the sunbeds would be good ,but that's personal choice ...there is a good variety of Supermarkets right on your Doorstep , there are so many. Bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes and a good selection of bars with large beers starting from 1 and a half € which is good although soft drinks are more expensive at around 2€ + ...the staff at la penita are all great so helpfull if they can help they will .there is a good clean Shower room to use if you have a late flight they will provide clean towels ,also there is a luggage room right next to the reception desk so no worry there, you can hire a safe which is in the room you just pay and get the barrel and key... On arrival you receive a large bottle of water ,you are also given the remote for the tv, overall I would recommend staying at La Pineta without a doubt ,you have everything you need on your doorstep bars places to eat, beaches .. If you are looking for a self catering holiday in Lanzarote don't hesitate..

Room Tip: 3floor rooms for a lovely sea view ,we had 135 overlooking the pool ,and the sea beyond lovely..

This is the first time we have been to Lanzarote, and what a fab time we had. Would definitely stay at these apartments again. Spacious rooms, staff superb and friendly, the lady at reception extremely helpful. There was only one slight down fall no air con, thankfully this did not affect us so much as we went later in the year, you do have fans but this only helps a little. Again this would not stop me booking again.

WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS??? its great just book it! NOW. Anyhow here goes I suppose, this is our 3rd time at La Penita, Arrived late Monday 30/9/13, the night porter was very helpful and apologetic that the room we requested 135 or 136 was unavailable as the apts were full, but they gave us 154 top floor (requested) (yes the one with the flood light above the balcony! but it was not a problem) great views of the sea. The whole place has had a lick of paint and looks good. Rooms remain basic but very clean and forms the perfect base. Very quiet overall except for a group who turned up and the rooms they requested were not available, but over the next 24hrs and a lot of visits to the reception I think they got what they wanted (or knocked them into submission lol) Never ever use the pool area and a good job this was as the pool bunnies were out very early to strategically drop towels onto the sun beds ( by mistake of course as reserving beds is not allowed) Great place, great staff, excellent location and quiet.

Room Tip: Block 2-3 top floor give good sea views, Block 2 gives a good pool view. Block 7 (I think) rooms 22...

We stayed here from 26/9 - 3/10/13 for part of our honeymoon. We had read the great reviews so were looking forward to our stay. And we were not disappointed. Our flight wasnt in until 7.30pm but the reception is open until midnight and then manned by security until 7am. When we arrived we were greated by a really polite friendly receptionist, who checked us in. He gave us Room 178 which was really nice n had a huge balcony but only thing was one side faced a white wall & the Balcony faced out over other aptmts. I went back to him & asked could we have an apartment with a pool view which was no problem. We would jus need to wait until morning. We moved into the new apt next day which overlooked the huge pool and also had sea view. The pool area has plenty of sunbeds which we thought we wouldnt need to hold with towels as it does say there is no holding beds. But people actually do go down first thing & put towels out. But in saying that there are loads of beds. It was quiet even though it was busy-ish with no mad loud people which was great. The pool area is spotless clean & pool is cleaned every morning. The aprtmts are cleaned daily, clean towels n beds made & fresh sheets. No cleaning wednesdays/sundays. The cleaning lady leaves a cute little swan on the table she makes out of the tea towel. Jus nice little touch. There is no air con but there are fans in each apt which are adequate. U can also use the safe in ur room by paying a deposit. I left my bracelet in our first apt and it was givin straight back next day by the cleaning lady. :-) The pool bar does a great variety of food n is handy durin the day for snacking. The Main strip is right out the back gates which is great. Ur givin a key which opens all the gates which lead out onto the strip. The whole complex is secure. This was our first time in Puerto Del Carmen and I have to say we loved it. As u go on you suss out which restaurants are cheaper. The Trattoria restsurants are very nice, food is great n prices reasonable. 1st night there we were fooled into thinkin O'Reillys Bar was an Irish Bar but its owned by Moroccans and the food n drink is alot more expensive than other places on the strip. Mulligans Irish Bar is a good spot with 3 course meal fr €12.50 and cocktails are 2 for €8.00. But most of the bars n restaurants have good deals. We will definitely be returning to stay in La Penita Apartments they lived up to their reputation and more. Can't wait to go back next year.
