Stayed here for a week in August, Staff excellent, very friendly and helpful, apartment spotless and had everything we needed. Had booked bed and breakfast but after 3 days opted out of breakfast as it lacked variety, didn't eat in the restaurant but did in the poolside bar and food was ok, nothing special, pool clean and all areas well kept, location was great , away from the crowd but within walking distances to the action, all in all will definitely return

Just returned home from a 2 week stay at the Hyde Park bungalows in Lanzarote. We are a family of 4 (2 kids - 9 & 3 years old).

Having read quite a lot of the negative reviews on TA I was very dubious & extremely nervous about what we might be letting ourselves in for. That said however - the hotel is not making itself out to be anything it is not. Its clean, the staff are friendly & helpful (as you would expect) its safe for the children & all in all its not too far from the PDC main promenade (approx. a 10 min walk from the hotel).

The bungalows were immaculate, cleaned 5 days out of 7, towels were changed twice a week - I would have preferred another added towel change as standard however towels could be changed whenever you needed but at a small cost. The grounds were the bungalows are situated were well maintained & really nice looking.

The pool area was nice but was definitely lacking some TLC. The sun loungers could have done with a daily hose down but never seemed to get the attention that they needed. The umbrella's also needed the same care & attention with all of them looking rather grubby & worn. On this note the umbrella's are permanently fixed to the ground due to the at times high winds - as there were very few of these around the pool area if you were not up early enough to bag yourself a spot with a sun shade then it was a case of get lucky or get burned!!

Now all that aside it was not that bad at all considering what we paid. But my biggest gripe was how the pool bar was organised/ran. I am not blaming the staff but more the management. At some of the busiest times during the day (12pm - 3pm) & in the busy evening (8pm - 10pm) there was only ever one member of staff on the bar, in the day there was a 2nd member who was stuck on the lunch grill - at one point there was 6 people ahead of me & I still waited nearly 15 minutes to be served as cocktails were very popular but also very time consuming for the staff. Very frustrating if you have kids waiting for drinks etc.,

With regard to the wifi it was okay, not great and was only usable if you were within the pool/bar area. No wifi was attainable from any of the bungalows.

Evening entertainment was poor. 2 nights in the week was a solo spanish guy on guitar/keyboard. 2 nights were meant to be quiz nights but never went ahead & was never explained. The rest of the nights was spanish football on the big screen. Children's evening entertainment was 15 minutes of the same 5 songs (think Butlin's) every night... every night!!

Pro's - Clean, safe, 10 mins from PDC, friendly staff.
Con's - Poor pool facilities, poor bar facilities, poor entertainment.

Room Tip: Ask for pool view (not many) - you might just get a Wifi signal this near to the pool.

Just back from a weeks stay at these bungalows. Party of nine staying in three bungalows. Requested air con and pool view by phone prior to arriving but was told as we booked through one of the cheaper agents this wasn't possible but they would try and get the three bungalows close together...which they did honour. Reception staff polite, friendly and helpful. Transfer from airport in taxi was less than 10 mins and around 11 to 13 euros.
Our bungalows were on the other side of the road from the reception in the quieter area (although the whole hotel is quiet with a relaxed atmosphere). The pool on this side is quieter but more run down than the main pool area. The sun loungers looked particularly old and faded, some are broken and there is no facilities such as a bar on this side. The shop is very close however for drinks and icecream. As others have mentioned do not buy milk from the on site supermarket in the cartons it goes off instantly as two of our party discovered within the first day or two.
Spent most days by main pool which was nice and the kids aged 12 , 8, 5 and 2 enjoyed. There was a kids club but it seemed to have limited opening times with no activities or music played around the pool at all. Can't really comment as didn't use kids club (located downstairs in pool bar) or the restaurant but had a snack at pool bar on day of arrival which was pleasant and cheap enough. As out every night on strip didn't notice any entertainment either but understand this is very limited also.
There was a lifeguard at the main pool I saw in duty a couple of times emptying bins but in no way could you relay on him to keep an eye on the pool. As we went mid August the loungers at main pool were taken most of the day (unfortunately with the same old sad tradition of some people leaving towels on loungers then not bothering to turn up till after 3 in the afternoon).
Had one day out at Texas ransho which was a good and well maintained and run place with attentive lifeguards on the two slides and around the pool area. Only saw the sea lion show (there is an eagle and parrot show too) much of which was spent getting people to take pictures with the sea lion which they then sell to you on your way out. Still good day out 10 min walk from hotel and a change from the pool! As been to lansarote before didn't do volcanos, caves or camel rides this time but would recommend them all!!
As many other reviews mention it is a 10/15 min walk to main strip where there are lots of bars and restaurant selling pretty much the same meals. My husband asked where we could get a decent pialla and the hotel staff laughed and said we would have to go 15 mins outside of the resort! We ate out all week with varying quality to the meals but all ok and some good. As a family of four we paid anywhere between 40 and 50 euro with an alcoholic drink each kids meals range from 3.50 to 5.50 euro.
Had one afternoon on the nearest beach which was extremely windy with sand blowing everywhere. On the positive side loungers and parasols were free and there was a lifeguard. Kids enjoyed it anyway (not a big beach lover myself) !
Overall we enjoyed our stay at these bungalows but i do feel with a little bit if money spent well the standards could be brought up which would make a big difference. On a practical level ...Kitchen has two hobs, microwave , fridge and kettle. No cloth or sponge, salt pepper, tea, coffee etc so chuck in your case if you have a bit of extra space! Maids were great and the rooms were always clean. They came 5 out of 7 days. The pull out bed in the lounge was not suitable for adults in my opinion and we therefore slept on the two single beds which were comfy and we had no problems with the hard beds mentioned although would have if we has slept on beds in lounge! We had a hair dryer in our bungalow attached to the wall but my sister next door didn't. So some inconsistency there. Also our room had a shower (no bath) but my sisters had bath with shower over obviously better if you have very little ones. Garden areas nice but trees do need cutting back next to pavement to make it safer especially with kids and buggies!
In conclusion: Enjoyed but won't return.

We have just returned from our third holiday at Hyde Park Lane Villa's and will not be returning. The villa's are in need of updating as they have deteriorated since last year. There have obviously been many staff cuts as the maids only work 5 out of 7 days now, which isnt too bad but other staff cuts are more noticeable. The pool man now works alone where as last year there were about 3 of them, so the pools are not getting clean as often as they should maybe twice weekly now instead of every other day. All of the trees need pruning as most of them were over hanging the paths which were a hazard espcially in the dark. Be aware that there are theives working in the area, we had our kindles and money stolen from the villa during the day. If you report this to the police you need to take an interpreter with you who can write in english and spanish and this is expensive. The moral of the story is lock it up if you are not using it even when you are at the villa.

Room Tip: The Wifi is very slow and can only be accessed at reception.

Just got back from here after11 days, well the bungalows haven't changed, in need of a makeover, our stay started badly, the shower in the room didn't drain away, but it was fixed straight away, then theres the pool area the old grannies had there bits hanging out {yak}.babies being taken into the main pool without a nappie on, pool bar staff were always disappearing, thought it was a self service, the cook in the morning was dirty with greasy hair and clothes smelling of grease, entertainment in the evening was scarce, santos the singer could not be heard because, all the german kids were running around shouting and banging on the pool tables, there were told to be quiet (you would think they won the world cup -ha ha), the cleaners were loud first thing in morning all the staff were polite and helpful. then just before we left, there were young 13-14 year old girls topless and posing in front of the boys. overall the place needs a good sorting as its looking old and dated. and we will not be going back.

Room Tip: ask for a room between 80-85, its a bit quieter there as its a bit back from the pool ,Wi-Fi only av...

We stayed here from the 19th July until the 2nd August 2014. We arrived fairly late but the reception was still open. They were very friendly and helpful and we were in our bungalow within about 15 minutes. The bungalow was very clean and had everything we needed for our holidays. My wife used the pool area almost every day and she always got a lounger as there were lots of them. When I was at the pool on the Monday I saw one of the maintenance guys taking samples of the pool and testing them then adjusting the water chemicals, I thought this was very good as I have never seen this done in any other resort. They obviously take their responsibilities seriously.
We used the pool bar every night as it had free Wi-Fi and the staff were very helpful. There was free Wi-Fi in the bungalow but we could never get connected (I think they only allowed a certain amount of connections). We ate in the restaurant about three times and the food was quite good but there was better down at the beach. This is a very friendly resort and if you want a nice quiet relaxing holiday this is perfect. Our bungalow was next to the road and we were never disturbed by any noise. The bungalow we had from James Villas came with a free car but we really didn't need it as the beach was a five minute walk and you had everything you needed. There were some really good restaurants which I will review later. this is the second time we have been to Lanzarote and the the people are brilliant and very friendly I only had an issue with an electronic shop owner but he was not from Lanzarote.

I had mixed feelings after reading reviews but it was perfect went as a family of 6 we had 2 bungalows perfect location close to reception and pools clean and had everything we needed only flaw was no air con there was a celing fan in the bedroom but was so noisy at night.. And pool bar was ridicouls 1 person working with loads of Qs very slow only went twice no need as theres so much on the strip.. Walking distance was great only around the corner from super market and restaurants and then about 10 min walk to start of strip the strip is miles long so be good to hop in taxi if you want to get to the end..which is bout 2-3 € lanzarote itself is just fab loads to do for kids and adults waterparks theme parks Zoo go karting. Weather was lovely cant wait to go back would defo go back to hyde park lane
