We went here as two couples. We arrived at around 9pm and the guy on the desk whisked us straight down to the restaurant so that we didn't miss out on our evening meal. The food was great for breakfast, lunch and dinner but was a bit repetitive. They do cook fresh things in front of you though and the waiting staff and chefs are all polite and pleasant. The car staff are also polite and offer extremely generous measures of drinks!! (sometimes a little too generous!) The pool areas were always clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds to go around.

The room was adequate and always kept to a high standard. We had an apartment which was away from the rest of the hotel and therefore quiet in the evenings with no disruptions in the early hours!

The only thing that we disliked was the entertainment team as it was all done in French and only seemed that the French would join in so everyone else felt distant from that as they didn't allow other nationalities to really join in as you had no idea what was going on.

Good location and easy to get to the town and beach with taxi prices seeming good value.

We would definitely consider this hotel again for future holidays!

I came away with my parents and my sister who turned 18 while we were staying here. We found it a very beautiful setting with lots of pools and different places to sit and relax. We thought the food was ok, a variety of foods however didn't change throughout the whole stay. I doubt I would have been able to stay longer than a week. All the staff were a delight. Very polite (majority) seemed happy to be at work! However, the restaurant I believe needs a seating plan! As a party of four we we're expect to find a table of four each time. At one point we were sat on a table for six sat down to eat and we were asked to move, in my opinion if they wanted you to sit at a particular table, a table plan should be arranged. Also I thought the entertainment in the evening was pretty poor. Other than that we had an amazing holiday lovely and chilled out everyone was extremely friendly and helpful!! Also, if you're wanting to go out for a meal make sure you check out 'El Cangrejo Rojo' in Puerto Del Carmen food and staff were faultless! View was amazing and they go above and beyond!

Great hotel, two week stay, all hotel staff, reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping, were helpful and friendly. Had room on first floor of hotel overlooking main pool - nice private balcony with sun in afternoon, good A/c, fridge, large wardrobe with lots of hangers and loads of drawer space, flat screen TV with only Sky news in English, but not there to watch tv, usual underpowered hairdryer in modern bathroom, towels and bedding changed as often as you required. We took our own travel kettle and tea bags. We both found the food excellent, loads of choice although some was repetitive in the two weeks (there is only so many variations of salad you can do!). The meats, fish and fruit were all delicious and a lot was cooked in the restaurant (king prawns to die for). The pools were good, with three to chose from - one by the main bar, a middle one which was the animation team's base and a smaller one across a road. We chose this because it was quiet and peaceful for the majority of our stay.
Now to the only thing wrong with the hotel - the animation team, Club Marmara. They were appalling, very rude, had trouble in speaking English to you, appeared to spend their time dressing up in silly costumes (not just for the shows but during the day too). They were definitely not what you expect to be running the daytime and evening events in a four star hotel, they were more suited to organising a Club 18/30 bar crawl. Probably the younger french guests enjoyed their brand of entertainment.
Shame, but they did let an excellent hotel down.

Room Tip: Hotel Room 1228, first floor, overlooking main pool, enclosed balcony - sunny in afternoon, good a...

Four of us got back 7.7.14 after a fortnights rest,,we were here 2x yrs ago and highly rated it , we found nothing had changed in-cleanleness,food,pools,staff BUT now you have ignorant arrogant french people with bad table manners- the so called "entertainment" were the same too, rude, ignorant in as they knew we were brits and totally missed us out of all involvements, no translation and a lot of shouting and balling. / only one channel to watch(sky news). And too round it all off the printed sheet telling us what time coach pick up was clearly stated 18.40, by the time we got to airport there were miles of cues and last call was up, rep rushed us through and we just about put bums on seat and doors shut. Distgusting....will not go back due too french arrogance.

Room Tip: Request pool veiw

What a great place to stay. One of the cleanest hotels we, as a family of three have ever stayed in. The service was excellent. All the staff were friendly and greeted you with a smile. It never came across as false. We were told before hand it had changed hands and to be honest I don't think it made any difference. The food was wonderful. So many dishes to keep anyone happy and there was plenty of variety. The hotel itself was spotless. The house keeping staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. With three different pools to choose from we were spoilt for choice, but now come the bad bits. The hotel is under Club Maramar and we found out that if you are not French they do not want to know you. They only look after their own. You speak French you're ok, if you don't, you will be ignored. Thankfully we were quick to find out and went elsewhere to the main pool at the hotel. And the same went for the entertainment at night. Absolute rubbish. All in French. Overall I suppose we would go back but only if the entertainment is sorted out.

Room Tip: Bring plenty of mosquito spray!!!!! and learn french

We traveled to the Olivina hotel from the 8th - 15th June 2014

We where told 2 months before we travelled that it's been taken over but nothing has changed! (yeah right)
With a riu hotel you get free wifi, free beach towels, and Free safety deposit box in room, not in this hotel you don't, 16€ deposit, 16€ non refunded able, beach towels 10€ deposit! wifi 2€ an hour.
We were allocated two apartments 111 - 113 balcony facing the French pool! the fridge wasn't working so told them at reception to sort it out which they did that night!

Beds are all hard like sleeping on a floor, don't forget to take mosquito cream/room spray....bite loads of times
The evening entertainment is all in French didn't bother with that, the French pool is nice you just have to ignore all the stuff the French are doing unless you can understand it.

The food is a 2 star standard, very basic, the same all the time, you might get one nice different dish every 3 days, but all in all the food is totally crap!

I can see why RIU have sold this hotel as it is defiantly not a RIU standard, would never recommend it to anyone - Thompson have my complaint logged.

Rooms were cleaned well, located well for the bars and shops.

The best thing about this hotel was the return flight home!!!

Have fun....

Room Tip: Don't book it if you don't speak fluent French!!!
