“Lovely views, clean, but very large complex if you're disabled.”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We have just come back from staying in block 2, we had to upgrade, block 7 where we were allocated in Thomsons standard accommodation was far to far from the amenities. We chose self catering and after hearing the awful stories from those who were inclusive, we were glad we did. Several people on different days said the dinner and lunch buffets were nothing more than snacks serving things such a 'chip butties' as a meal! However, that said, our bungalow was really quite pleasant, although there was air-con, it was only in the bedroom, which meant a very hot and stuffy kitchen/lounge area and internal bathroom. Sadly, there was no shade on our little patio/terrace and we feel this could easily be improved by providing a parasol........if they were concerned about them being pinched, they could easily ask for a deposit just as they did for having the tv remote control and key for the safe. The beds were rock hard, BUT, all of the staff, without exception, were lovely! The cleaners were very thorough and one particular receptionist was super. The setting and idea of Las Gaviotas is fab. Clusters of bungalows with their own pools, very pretty, sun beds, a couple of grass umbrellas, extremely clean, pool immaculate. However, we do feel we should warn people about the lay out if you have mobility issues, either because you have problems walking or are a wheelchair user. Blocks 1 - 4 are together, reception and the restaurant are in block 3, but again, the walk through from block 2 is a little bit of a walk. The problems come to light however if you are in blocks 5 - 8 as there are not directly on the complex at all but are actually a road or so away from main restaurant & reception. Additionally, it makes it an even further distance from the shopping complex on the seafront where the main resort bars & restaurants are. We are not being negative but we all save hard for our holidays don't we, and we feel that we should point out important things that may help future holidaymakers who cannot walk well. Overall, the bungalow was lovely, extremely clean, with a little back door area where you can hang towels out and a very few steps on level ground to the pretty pool area. We loved the resort as a whole and would go back now we know where to book.

Room Tip: We used the soft mattresses off of our sun loungers on our terrace to soften the very hard beds.

Just go back from a week at this place , it was not all inclusive the food was awful and not alot to choose and not very hot, from plus the half mile hike to the restaurant.i must say the staff were very pleasant. The accomadation was very basic towels only changed once! Certainly not worth the money we paid for it.

Room Tip: don't have block 8

Just back from probably our best holiday! We booked last minute and were amazed to find that we were in a bungalow with a pool in front of us.The bungalow had everything we needed and we used our patio and little garden every morning and evening and spent the days on the lovely sandy beach 2 minutes away! Local Spar close and not expensive. We were in block 2, close to the shop/bar complex but didn't find it noisy. The airport is very close and the planes do come over the beach but no one we spoke to found this a nuisance. If you want a quiet holiday this is the one for you!!

Just got back from a weeks stay here, we got up graded on a off chance and the bungalow we had overlooked the prom and the beach which was lovely. The bungalow was a little tired in places but lovely and clean and cleaned most days with new towels. For a relaxing holiday to recharge the batteries before winter this was perfect and the staff at reception was very helpful and friendly, would definitely come back again.

We have just returned from a week all inclusive. We were situated in block 8 this was a 10min walk to the only restaurant for breakfast dinner and tea. This should not advertise as all inclusive, the food is average at best, limited choice and its hard to piece a meal together. If you like bread and chips then you'll be ok. This was also the only place after 6pm to get a drink, we described the "restaurant" as a large conservatory, no atmosphere on an evening we was very disappointed by the food.
The bungalow itself was clean enough, towels were only changed once in the week, beds were uncomfortable, quite springy.

Pool bar was in block 8 so we found this useful, drinks and snacks were available from 11-6.

The saving grace of the holiday is the location, 5 min walk to lovely beach, shopping complex with good choice of restaurants and bars was also just a 5 min walk.

We ate out 5 out of the 7 nights, good job we took a bit of spending money.

We would recommend this as a self catering break, if you can get a cheap deal, we would definitely not recommend it as an all inclusive.

Room Tip: Just go self catering and save your money!
