“So clean”
Reviewed June 8, 2012

Just returned from a week at Barcarola Apartments and had a lovely time. The whole complex is so clean, everything outside is washed down every morning and the gardens watered. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always seem to be smiling. It was Canaries Day while we were there and all the staff dressed up in national costume and cooked food for everyone to taste at lunchtime free of charge which was a nice touch. The apartment although basic was very clean and had been refurbished a couple of years ago. The only reason I have not given 5 stars is that we found the beds extremely hard which made them very uncomfortable. This may not bother some people but it did bother my husband and I and I don't know if all the mattresses in all apartments were the same but slightly softer ones would be appreciated when they are renewed. We stayed in C3 which was a great location not overlooking the pool but directly next to it which we preferred. Our flight home was in the evening and we were given an apartment to shower and get changed in and our luggage was safely locked away so we could enjoy our last day of sunshine around the pool without any worries. The apartments are also near the end of the strip (or beginning whichever way you look at it) so there was not much noise at night which was a bonus. All in all we had a nice relaxing time in Lanzarote and would definitely recommend Barcarola and we will be back even if we have to suffer the beds!

Room Tip: The apartments are on two levels. We personally prefer upper level for more privacy and less overhe...

I have just returned from a weeklong stay at the Barcarola holiday apartments. I found the apartment to be absolutely perfect for our needs. We had our towels changed every day, and our bed linen changed twice weekly. The very competent housekeepers, who were discreet and undisruptive, cleaned the apartment every morning. We spent most of our days by the pool, which was spacious and clean, and because some days the temperature reached 42 degrees, the pool was both cool and refreshing. The ladies who attended the poolside bar/cafe were lovely, and always on hand to serve whatever food or drink you wanted. If there was a downside to the Barcarola, it was the lack of air conditioning in the apartment, however we overcame this with the use of an electric fan that we hired from reception at a cost of €16 for the week, and it done the trick. I couldn’t speak more highly of the Barcarola apartments and their staff, and look forward to our next holiday in Lanzarote and the Barcarola. We were in Lanzarote to attend the wedding of our friends, while we were there a group of us visited the go-Karting raceway which is just outside Puerto Del Carmen the guy that runs it, John, was great, he sends a bus to your hotel brings you there and back for free. we took part in a grand prix type of race, with a points system, and the winners had a podium and champagne presentation. The event was well worth the money and great fun

Room Tip: we stayed in room number D9, it was ground floor, and quite near to the pool

Good overall reviews, good location but depends which appartment you get i guess...Ours wasnt that good. Lots of problems with toilet and shower not running constantly. Breakfast wasnt that good, average. About 4 kms of the old port of Puerto del Carmen with lots of restaurants on the way there. Very touristic British and german place. I always wonder why those Germans dont learn a few words of English when they go abroad. After a few days i had enough of all those medical units with a big sign outside saying "wir sprechen Deutsch". Probably they are needed for all those 80+ Germans staying on the island and ready to drop dead at anytime...

Room Tip: ask for a room near the pool

This was our third family holiday to Lanzarote, we have used Villas in the past however decided to go for an Apartment Is time, we looked here on trip advisor and saw the good reviews the Barcarola has so decided to book. Booking was easy, prompt replies to email which is always a great start, called to enquiry about size of rooms and the staff were very helpful and cold speak good English (bonus). On arrival the welcome was very pleasing, all paperwork prepared in advance so checkin process was made easy, when we arrived to our room we were greeted with a bowl of fresh fruit, a bottle of wine and water which was a very pleasant touch. The complex itself is really clean and tidy you can tell that pride is taken by the staff who work there, the children's pool is excellent as it is covered with a canopy to keep the kids cool which we found very good. The apartments were cleaned daily, and fresh towels given which we felt was again a really nice touch, we were also given real cots for our children which made them feel quite homely (rather than travel cots that you usually get), location wise Barcarola is situated in the quiter part of PDC away from the main discos etc however if this is your scene a 15 ,impute wal along the main strip is all it would take, however there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants nearby. All in all a great place to stay, we have just booked to return again later this year.
Top Tip: if you are looking for a really nice special meal try La Canada restaurant which is off the main strip, turn right outside the complex walk 20 mins turning right when you reach Nicki beach bar.

Room Tip: We stayed in a room specifically asked for "away from street" this was a really nice quest...

You can tell when you arrive for your stay here that this complex is very well run and by a team that genuinely care about the place and the service. There is a genuine welcome at the reception, the general areas from reception to the grounds of the complex are very well maintained and clean and the room on arrival is well presented. Just to say, that landing late evening after travelling for the afternoon, what better welcome could you ask for in your room that a complimentary bottle of (very good Lanzarote) wine and fruit that you have at hand to enjoy before you even have time to think about opening those suitcases to unpack.
The apartments a reasonably spacious and our balcony overlooking the gardens and the pool area was a great space in the morning and evenings.
We opted for breakfast in our booking and was expected a reasonable standard but limited breakfast given the size of the complex. Instead, there is a generous and varied buffet in a almost poolside building that had a few changes each day to keep you interested. All was very good with the minor exception of the coffee being just fine given that it came from a machine.
The resort is well located on the main seafront avenue with enough cafes/restaurants and bars around it to keep you local a few nights. It is also around a 20 min pleasant walk to the old town which we did a few days/nights.
In comparison to other apartment resorts that I would have stayed in where you were just a room number, I found that I enjoyed the Barcarola as it was a small complex where there was good discrete customer service at each turn.

Room Tip: The apartments are in the main in various two storey blocks set around a circular area that included...

We travelled independently and chose these apartments due to their location [we'd passed by them on a previous visit to Lanzarote] but also because they advertised wi-fi which was important for my husband to have due to work committments. The apartments must be the cleanest that I've ever been in. We were in a one bedroom ground floor apartment looking out onto the swimming pool.
The location of the complex is perfect as you are close to everything. The complex itself was quite at night but on 3 of our 7 nights, the music from the Music Hall at the side of the complex was so loud that it could be heard clearly in our apartment. The music however still stop exactly at midnight.
The size of the apartment was fine for the two of us. It would be a bit tight though if there were 3 people in it. However, despite enquiring prior to making a reservation about the wi-fi and if there were any english channels on the tv, these two things didn't live up to our expectations. The wi-fi signal in our apartment was woeful and didn't connect 99% of the time. As for the english tv channels, the only ones were the news channels, bar the disney channel which transmitted intermittently in english during the day.
Our only and biggest issue with the apartment was the noisy neighbours above us. Granted they had children but the noise was unbearable. From 6.30am the furniture was being pushed around the apartment and once they were awake, so were we as the noise was unbelieveable. We did complain to the management and ask to be moved but unfortunately we were told that the complex was full.
The pool area was spacious and there were plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The only thing to bear in mind however is that the tiles get very hot so if you're walking around the pool area, you might need to put on shoes to prevent getting your feet burnt. Plus, the tiles are also very slippy when wet, so be careful when you're coming out of the pool as one person did have a bad fall when we were there.
On check-in, the receptionist Rosy was being trained in. We got a lovely friendly welcome which made us warm to the complex immediately. On check-out a week later, Rosy was on duty. Even though she might only be a new member of staff, she was so lovely and friendly and I really hope that she will still be there when we stay here again as she is a credit to the complex.
The Barcarola Club Apartments are definitely worth staying in and are worthy of their classification. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Look for an apartment on the first floor so that you don't have to suffer noisy neighbours above...

We stayed here for 8 nights in March with 2 toddlers. The complex is really lovely. Its on the strip but very quiet both day and night. The staff were lovely and very friendly. The apt was great, 2 bedrooms, nice big living area and the best was the huge terrace out front and 2 smaller ones off the bedrooms. The space was great with 2 kids! Its very clean, I did not see 1 insect the whole stay. The pool area is great. The baby pool is perfect for small toddlers and it has a cover from the sun. It is probably a bit cold as other reviewers said but then it is still March! Mine did not seem to mind it and we had to drag them out of it most days. There is a playground also with swings, slide etc. in the complex.
There is lovely Italian near if you come out of the complex and turn left and walk down towards the spar, I forget the name unfortunately. But the food was fantastic and I would recommend it over the Antica Trattoria restaurant to the right of the complex especially if you have kids as they are great with them.
We usually stay in the old town when we have been to Lanzarote on previous holidays but its really only about a 20 min walk to the old town where there are lovely restaurants down near the harbour and also a big playground. We got our best fish meal in Puerto Viejo. All in all a great stay and would definitely return to this complex again.
