Stayed 5 nights half board in a superior room on recomendation of reviews. Very good accommodation, great food and brilliant location - staff all very welcoming and helpful throughout. Hotel just 10 minutes from the airport and taxi service most efficient. Our room was on the upper floor so the balcony was above rooms below and therefore no problem with balcony opening up on to walkway as with some rooms although not really a problem. Room was large with two single beds making a double and a couch which was also a pull-out bed. The food was great; very large selection catering for wide range of tastes particularly continental. Each night whilst there was much that was common there was always something different on the menu. Just wish they did fresh fruit juices for breakfast and tea or coffee after dinner. With such a good breakfast and evening meal we needed very little to eat during the rest of the day. When we stayed most of the guests were German and although busy it was always quiet. We hardly used the pool (on the cool side) as the beach was adjacent to the hotel. This was a great place in which to relax and enjoy the sea and food - quiet and restful. Would love to go back.

Based on the excellent reviews here I booked nine days for myself and my parents. It was a last minute thing and the price was quite reasonable for half board. We didnt like it on first impressions. Reception is not exactly warm and inviting, it could be an office block reception. There was a queue of people checking in and only one receptionist. Eventually we were shown to our rooms which are bland and basic and well below the standard of what I would expect. Bathroom is fine. Its all very clean but thats as much as I can say. To me its more like a motel or a Butlins chalet - decor is totally grim. Whilst in your room you have no privacy as people are constantly walking past so curtains have to be kept closed. Rooms are very big but I dont understand the necessity for the seating area and microwave! Beds are extremely uncomforable.

Next to dinner - the food is terrible. We were late checking in and getting to dinner and there was very little left. Very little choice and what was there was bad quality. We found that when some dishes had run out they were not replenished very quickly. Diningroom has bright glaring lights (canteen-like) with no ambience whatsoever. Not a place to linger over a nice meal. Breakfast was similar. Very little selection of cereals and the ones present were obviously Lidl or Aldi versions of the real thing. Fruit juices were dire, watery and simply strange tasting.

Pool area again is bland and soul-less. Not exactly relaxing atmosphere. Towels are obtained at reception for a deposit of €10 per towel and are changed only on Monday and Friday! We asked what do we do with used/wet towels every evening and were told to hang them on the balcony!! I personally do not like lying on a towel day after day with an accumulation of sun cream. If towels were required to be changed out of these time it cost 50c per towel. Unbelievable!

We came to dinner earlier on the second night and it wasnt any better. At this point we decided we could not stay here for 9 days. We left the following morning and checked in to Los Jameos Playa . Thankfully they had availability. I simply do not understand how Los Jameos Playa and Las Costas are both 4 star properties. There is simply no comparison.

Positives are: yes the place is clean and the staff are nice but this hotel should not deceive people by telling them its a 4 star. It is 3 star at a stretch.

The hotel is in a great location with good sea views lots of sun beds there is someone who goes around to stop people saving the beds, when we were there it was 50 50 German to English. The breakfast has variety no cues, the evening meal is a bit bland but caters for most tastes. There is free internet access in your room but it is by a ethernet cable wifi is in reception.
There are some good restaurants within a short flat walk towards Puerto Del Carmen.
We will be back.

Had one weeks stay here - room with breakfast. Everything was excellent - staff very friendly, food lovely...although we only had breakfast - there was a good choice, always fresh with plenty of choice. Cleanliness is EXCELLENT all staff do a very good job and take pride in their work. Kids and adults were provided with great entertainment round the pool during the day and into the evening - our little girl loved the mini kids club. Location is very good with a bit of a walk to the livelier end of Puerto Del Carmen but also a short walk to Matagorda, taxi rank just a couple of mins down the road though if you don't like to walk too far. Very good entertainment place for kids opposite San Antonio Hotel towards Puerto Del Carmen with mini golf, trampolines, pool table and games etc. Would love to go back - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel and Lanzarote itself to anyone looking for an enjoyable and relaxing holiday in the sun.

Room Tip: Could request sea view but to be honest most rooms looked as if they had a nice view as the gardens...

Just back from a week here. Excellent hotel, staff are really nice and the cleanliness is really good couldn't find any faults at all. Location is good, just a short walk into centre of Puerto Del Carmen. Managed to keep our room till 4pm on our last day at no extra charge. Will certainly return here. Rooms are single story bungalow, very nice. No shorts etc in dining room unless knee length dressy. Life Guard is very strict about reserving sunbeds, if you dont show up within 50 mins he lifts towels and takes them to reception. We never had a bother getting a sunbed.

spent a week at the las costas hotel (4/9/11 - 11/9/11) with my wife, my brother and his wife and it was undoubtably one of the best hotel stays we have had anywhere, from the frienliness and helpfulness of the staff to the excellent rooms and facilities. This is a hotel i would strongly reccommend to everyone, not just for the above, but for the brilliant location and proximity to the great beach (ten metres from the exit gate in pool area). The rooms even had a fridge and microwave even though we were staying B&B. When i go back to Lanzarote, as i certainly will be, this is the only hotel for me.

Room Tip: We had a sea view room but all rooms were probably very good. Only three floors.

Only stayed for one night but wished it could have been for longer. The room was great and the facilities were first class, with a lovely pool and adjacent Bar. The breakfast buffet was also extremely good and sitting outside looking over the beach made a great start to the day. We would recommend this hotel to all.

Room Tip: Ask for a terrace facing the beach
