“possible problem for sunbathers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 2, 2011

hotel lived up to all the glowing reports..we told them we were on our anniversary and got free room upgrade and champers on ice.
it also passed the 'pillow test' we asked for more pillows and they arrived within 10 minutes..excellent.
pool area however quite cramped and although we never sunbathe, i would imagine it could be a major problem for those wanting to get regular sunbathing sessions. there arnt that many sunbeds and the small jacuzzi is always hogged by the same(german)people.

Hotel facilities - excellent (hotel website deatils these accurately)
Cleanliness of communal areas (inside & out) and of rooms - exemplary
Room facilities and comfort - very good
Food - varied choice and very good quality. Suited to most diets (including vegetarian) and national preferences
Staff - very polite, helpful and friendly (multi-lingual)
Location - excellent as a few steps onto a great beach and safe sea. Short walk to Puerto del Carmen as well as other walks. Supermarket across the road as are a small selection of shops and bars/restaurants.

The only slight criticisms we would make is that if paying for a sea view room some of these are described as being partial sea view rooms by the hotel and also although pool towels are available (with a deposit of 10euro's each) they can only be changed twice a week.

Two of us travelled during the Easter Holidays. The hotel was about 3/4 full, 90% of which were German guests. The hotels primary custom is German and the remainder a mix of Brits and Irish. The hotel is immaculate, the food very continental (lots of cheese, cold meats and sausages). Beware only long trusers and shoes are acceptable at dinner although the vast majority seemed to get away with early 80's Farahs, socks and open toed sandals. To fit in you will need to:- 1. Dress two decades, behind the times, 2.Have your hair in a bouffant style, 3. Get up at 0600 and lay your towels on half a dozen sunbeds, (3a - not use the sunbeds), 4. Be able to eat green peppers, cabbage and 17 types of spicy sausage for breakfast.
Apart from that, very very windy at that time of year. Staff, nice, hotel clean, rooms large and airy.

I went to Lanzarote with my girlfriend (both active and in our early 20's) for a relaxing and sunny (as we are from the cold north, that was our main goal) week at Hotel Las Costas. We were met by a very nice woman at the front desk - setting the high standard right away: good english, polite and helpful with a smile. That being said, all the staff were attentive and very helpful (unless the poolbar guy - more on that later). I.E. I asked for a few tips for our around-the-island-with-rental-car-trip, and she gave us a route which we followed, and I can surely say that I'm left with images and impressions I will never forget! Lanzarote is not a big island, but a well planned 8 hour trip takes you through the sights you need (including fish restaurants in small villages, wine bodegas in the hillside of Ye - they have excellent cactus liquor by the way, amazing views, stunning scenery, and the list goes on).

As for the hotel, the food was above average, with a large variety og meals at both brekfast and dinner. My regular food contains a lot more whole grain and fibers, not croassaints, bacon and white bread (and donuts for breakfast?!). It is probably so the Germans is used to have it..For the hotel is full of Germans, and they have obviously been influential in the menu selection.

One downside is the cleaning staff's uninterrupted sound of chairs in the upstairs apartements moving in the morning. One can only wonder how they manage to move the same chair (because there is only one) around for so long. But the noise usually starts around 9 AM, and replaced my alarm clock for the holiday. So, just a minor frustration for my part.

The other is the pool bar. Crappy meny, and an even more crappy pizza - I would rather go right across the street, to that little pizza and snack restaurant for excellent lunch at a reasonable price. Also a missing display of beverages and a grumpy barman made the pool bar a bad place to eat lunch.

The last, and largest drawback for me, was that the wireless internet did not work in the room. I told the staff about the problem, and they were understanding and helpful, but obviously not very technically skilled. The wireless internet in the lobby (bad place for getting work done) worked thou. Probably just a temporary problem.

The gym, activities room (pool table, ping pong etc), squash hall, the pool, sunbeds etc - everything was clean and in well order. As most of the clients is older couples og couples with young children, there was not heavy demand on the facilities I mentioned over. I found that very positive. Because, from experience, it can be a source of frustration if it is constantly busy.

The rooms were big and clean, and the bathroom was as good as a four star gets in my opinion.

If I could re-live the week at this hotel i most certainly would! Recommended on the basis of the above points!

Stayed for a week half board in March this year and had a very relaxing holiday even though the weather was awful. The hotel is right on the beach in a quiet corner of the los pocilios beach. From check in to check out every thing was very efficient. All the staff seemed very happy and helpful. The hotel was kept very clean by what seemed a never ending steam of cleaning staff. The restaurant was well organised with staff clearing tables very quickly. Always plenty of choice at both breakfast and dinner with show cooking every day. The pool area was lovely with views of the beach and plenty of sunbeds.
All in all we had a very nice holiday at Las Costas and will return in the near future.

Stayed here for 1 week in late March 2011.
I booked this hotel on the basis of previous reviews in Trip Advisor most of which were very complimentary. We were not disappointed , everything apart from the evening entertainment was 5 star and in particular I would highlight the cleanliness of the hotel, the dining room and food and the attitude of the staff.
I would have no hesitation in booking again.
