“Yet another great holiday”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Great clean hotel, wonderful staff, friendly guests, good food , comfy beds and weather not bad what more can you want. Dont worry about negative reviews this hotel is what you make it, if you are pleasant to the staff they will be pleasant to you, its clean and food is plentiful night entertainment is like most hotels some nights good some nights bad, join in the daily activities and meet new friends then sit with them on an evening and make your own entertainment. Kenny of the animation team was brilliant especially on the cold wet days we had, kept everyone going so thanks to him. If this hotel was as bad a some people make out it would not have so many repeat guests and there are many and we have met most of them.
Eric is allways ready to help if you have a problem or if you just want to use him as a translator
as we normally do (Thanks Eric C U SOON )

Let's start at the beginning - this is supposed to be helpful. If you are planning to hire a car you might as well take it from the airport (£150 / 2 wks over Xmas for an Astra from Cabrerra Medina ALL IN!). Transfers take forever to get everyone on the coach. A taxi will cost you 20 euros each way which makes the car a bargain. Petrol is 1.12E/L.
Ask for a room overlooking the pool and facing Puerto del Carmen (1015/2015/3015 upwards) these have the best views and evening sun. Rooms are big with large sofabed for relaxing/TV. They are spotless and cleaned daily. Winter maintainence previously mentioned was completed before Xmas and the (small) heated pool was great. There are plenty of communal areas, again clean with lots of indoor greenery.
So, down to the nitty-gritty. We were 'All Inclusive'. Every Wednesday, guests are given a questionaire to complete. This shows that 'customer relations' are interested in their guests. Both times, when asked what we liked 'best', I put 'STAFF', and for 'worst' I put 'FOOD'. To put this into context, the staff really are good - from the cleaners who twisted a towel into the shape of a frog to amuse our daughter - to the bar staff once you 'connect' with them (give a smile to get a smile!). Food? Ho Hum. Tedious, I suppose is the word. Different every day, yet exactly the same. Plenty there, lots of choice, something for everyone and yet all pretty boring. We have had worse, but we have had a LOT better in 4* hotels in Lanz. And yet we keep giong back?
It is right near the end of the runway, so if you are on the top floor you look right into the windows of the planes. I liked that. Most people enjoyed looking up to watch the air traffic. It was not an irritation, more of a diversion.
The animation team were great with the Kids. Kept them busy all day if that's what they wanted. All in all, a relaxing holiday, which is exactly what we wanted. The location is great - right on the promenade from Pto Del C to Arreciffe - good for strolling, renting a bike (try a 'FLINSTONS' 4-seater - F.U.N!). Beach in front of the hotel.
Go.

Room Tip: Rooms on the NORTH wing. Overlooking the pool. Room numbers higher than 015.

We stayed there over Christmas, 20th to 27th December. First impressions, reception very good and helpful, sea view room dated as others have mentioned bathrooms not 4 * but always kept clean. Main restaurant for evening meal is 4* and dress code was strictly applied which was a positive and staff always helpful. There are other restaurants Italian and Chinese on specific day which we did not try as there was a good choice of food in the main restaurant and pool restaurant. Queues often at bars but drinks measures and variation were good. However, there were certain individuals who thought they could be served by podging in, bar staff appeared to be unable to prevent this from happening.
Pool area very spacious and plenty of sunbeds. Entertainment was a let down for over Christmas - Bingo Christmas night ugh, other nights average entertainment not 4*. A lovely piano bar would be even better if there was someone actually playing the piano - 2 nights only did we see entertainment in that area which was very good. Overall our stay was good, but would try other hotels along that coast.

I'm not sure how people can complain about this hotel. We stayed here for our 1st anniversary from 13th-20th December and loved it. Our room was spotless and we had fruit and Cava left in there for our arrival. Yes, one of the pools was closed for repair but there was so much room around the main pool, it didn't matter at all and there wasn't any problems with noise from the workmen. The food in the main resaurant was fabulous and always had lots of choice including roast beef, pork chops, chicken, fish, really lovely salads and desserts etc. We also went to the Italian on a couple of occasions which was all freshly made pastas and pizzas. The drinks are also good for all inclusive. The beer tastes like beer and they are very liberal with the spirits and wines. There's not much in Matagorda in the way of bars but there are a few and there are about 4-5 really nice restaurants within a 2 minute walk from the hotel if you fancy a change. The beach is stunning and right outside the gate of the hotel. PDC is only about 5-6 euro by taxi and the old town is highly recommended if you like sea food. Everything was well priced too compared to Mainland Spain and Greece these days. We would (and will) go back to this hotel this year and would recommend to couples and families. Also, a cab from the airport to the hotel is around 10 euro so don't bother paying for transfers. It's much cheaper, faster and convenient to get a taxi.

This was our first stay here for a week starting on the 6th dec 2012 ,Got to our room with a sea view which was nice the room nice and spacious but have to say very dated and worn, the bathroom was a good size tho couldnt have a bath as it was too grotty but the shower was a good power shower and the hairdryer worked well.Very dissappointed by not having a heated pool as this was one of the reasons we booked this hotel there were groundworks being carried out around the pool area which was very noisy and dusty and couldnt relax by the pool. The food was nice enough but cold at the start of the week until someone complained and they heated the plates up which was better and a good choice of food.Avoid the burger bar at all costs its disgusting tho the pizzeria was really nice didnt have a chance to try the oriental resturant. The evening entertainment was poor same every night and started at 10pm which was abit late plus the drinks were flat from the bar, saying that it was nice enough holiday tho the weather couldve been better would def go back to lanzarote but will stay in another resort as not much in matagorda.

We have just returned from a week's stay at the Beatriz Playa. Our first impression was good but then we were quickly disappointed. First of all one of the swimming pools was closed down for repairs which were carried out during the day. Guests around the pool area during the day were subjected to drilling noise and dust from the ongoing pool repairs and also repairs getting done at the pool area where the sunbeds are located. There was also terrible smell and fumes from the chemicals that they were using to carry out the repairs in the pool. In addition to one swimming pool being out of use the pool bar restaurant was also closed for repairs for the entire week we were there. So All Inclusive guests had one restaurant and one bar to use otherwise you had to pay. The entertainments bar where all inclusive guests were directed to after 18.00 hrs was less than inviting and had little or no atmosphere. The entertainment in this bar was quite poor. The best entertainment took place in the Piano Bar but again All Inclusive guests had to pay in this bar. which was a pity as it was always near empty. What a waste for the two great singers in this bar. The restaurant was very good and the quality and choice of food for us was excellent. But having to eat all meals in the one restaurant is not what you would have expected in a 4star hotel. The rooms are very comforatble with lovely private balconies. Bathrooms have a low bath with easy access and all toiletries are provided. Hair dryer is powerful. Safety deposit boxes are provided at a cost of 3 euros per day. The staff in this hotel are friendly and certainly appreciate when you give them a tip.Location is perfect but quiet at this time of year. Easy access from the hotel to the promenade and perfect for walking.
