“Great place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

I flew in from Australia to surprise my daughter who was staying with her family for her 40th birthday. What a great time we had. The staff were really friendly and helpful and made sure we were staying close to each other. Everything was spotlessly clean, the food was great with loads of choices catering for everyone. My daughter is vegetarian and she had no problems finding her choices in the varied menu. My granddaughter had her first taste of duck and loved it. Its self service, so you get as much as you like. The dishes are constantly refilled so if your choice has run out, it'll be back in minutes. The timing for meals is great breakfast from early to late, dinner service stretching until 9:30 and lazy lunches. There was a great choice of alcoholic drinks and icecream available all day. All of this is in the all inclusive price. I was impressed. This place is great value for money and close to the airport so you waste no time settling in. I paid for the WIFi which saved me a fortune in International roaming charges on my phone. If you want to organise a trip or want to know where to buy something, just ask at reception, they could not be more helpful. Morromar is a few minutes walk to the beach and shops and has a taxi rank at the back entrance. I had a great time, ate and drank far too much and would go again.

Just got back from an 11 night stay at the morromar - 29th aug to 9th sept. It was amazing, the hotel is really lovely and very clean!! We landed at ACE airport at 3pm and were sunbathing around the pool by 4!! wouldnt bother with a transfer it only costs 10 euro ish in a taxi!
in regard to being so close to the airport - the noise is minimal to anyone who thought this was a problem... why?! its not loud enough to interrupt conversation anyway.
firstly, the room. they look exactly like the pictures! perfect for a 3* hotel and exactly what we expected! although we were all inclusive we still had a kitchenette which was handy, especially the fridge!! the rooms didnt have aircon, this isnt even a problem as when in the apartment we opened the balcony doors and windows and a breeze quickly cooled the room down. the maid service was fantastic, very efficient!
next, the food and drinks! the bar by the pool was fantastic, hardly ever a queue and when there was it went down in about 1 minute! there was a self service soft drink dispenser which i think was a brilliant idea as then the queue was only for alcohol! they even have a slush machine wahoo!! the snacks were served at the correct times and there was always enough to go round. the restaurant was always run exceptionally! all staff were on top form providing excellent service and the food was always varied! tables were cleaned quickly.
the hotel has two pools, one of which is quieter. we visited both and preferred the top! although full of kids and noisy it was something to watch! and its closer to the bar. the pool areas are very clean and the only litter you see is from rude people who cant be bothered to put there litter in the bins! (which there are more than enough of!)
the entertainment during the day was fantastic! im never normally the kind to get involved but this time i did and loved it!! the team are fantastic and have a brilliant timetable going!
the hotel is located in the perfect spot, a five minute walk from the beach and the small town of matagorda then if you walk further for about half hour you come to the main town of puerto del carmen, it might sound like a long walk but it isnt! and its a lovely walk with many little bars to stop at on the way! there is taxis there located right behind the hotel, which it costs 5 euros to get to puerto del carmen! we tended to walk and get the bus back (the routes are so easy to understand! and its only 2 euro 70 for 2 people!)

All in all a fantastic holiday at a lovely hotel in a brilliant spot. The staff are clearly very proud of there place! What a brilliant team! I would recommend this hotel without a doubt!! Thankyou for making us feel so welcome.

A special thankyou to roberto, who made our stay complete - hopefully you can pass this on to him!! (from sarah and michael, the padel tennis champions haha!!)

Myself and my husband stayed here for our honeymoon in July 2013. The rooms were great enough space for 2 with a fabulous sea view. There is a quiet pool area on one side of the apartments I would definitely recommend using that one, as the other one is very loud and busy.As always there isn't enough sunloungers around and people were putting their towels out as early as 4am. The breakfast buffet was the best with the usual choice of English and continental food. Upstairs there was an hour before lunch where they served burger or hotdogs with chips. The evening and lunch buffet was not very good we used the on site supermarket for lunch foods. We ate out 4 nights out of 7. The Aussie bar on the beach was the best although not owned but Aussie' at the moment. General price for eating out is reasonable. If you want to book on any tours do it early as they book up quick. The guy in the chemist on the beach speaks good English if your ill. Over all we had a nice holiday but would recommend self catering.

we have just returned home (10th September) from a weeks stay at morromar.
firstly we would like to say all the staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful and accommodating to any of your needs. The manager of the hotel went above and beyond to familiarise herself with all the guests and we Particularly liked how she introduced all her team to the new arrivals and thanked them publicly for their hard work.
The hotel itself is clean and maintained well but slightly dated, this wasn't an issue.
The pool areas are also clean and there was no problem getting a sun Lounger. There is a supermarket on the complex but taking a 15 minute walk you will find a much cheaper spar supermarket.
There are a couple of things that let the hotel down, first thing being the evening entertainment. They try their best to have different themed nights but they are mainly aimed for children and very like a pontins holiday camp
however during the day they have some good activities on from archery, shooting, football, bowls and also a kids club. The entertainment manager is excellent at his job he just needs to provide more entertainment for the adults.
With regards to the food it is hit and miss, each day they try to have a different worldwide cuisine. During our stay they had Spanish, Chinese, Italian, meditareanian and English, down side is the food is not very hot and due to it being mass produced it lacks slightly in quality but still its edible, at breakfast the toaster is ridiculous with having to put our bread through 3+ times for it to toast and the queue of people waiting it becomes annoying
Waiters and waitresses work really hard and always give service with a smile.
one thing that we did notice was the maids uniforms, they are very dated and somewhat intimidating. Really need to be looked at updating. The cleaning staff are also very hard working and friendly
The last thing that lets the hotel down is there are no adult only areas and with there being 2 pools and a completely empty roof terrace it is possible.
Staying at the hotel as a couple with no children we found it was difficult to relax around the pool with so many children running mad.
Overall we would stay here again as we did have a really lovely holiday
and we would recommend morromar to friends and family
But this is on the basis that an adult only area was introduced.
Finally we would like to thank the manager and all staff at morromar for their hard work as you can see they are trying their best to improve the overall service and this is all you can ask. The manager openly said that she took the opinions of her guests on board and appreciated any feedback about the accommodation
thanks again
Mrs and Mrs Cliff-Donnelly

Dear guest!

Thank you very much for your detailed comment about our appartments. This helps us improve!

First of all, we are happy that you have enjoyed your hollyday with us!

As to the animation, we will take good note about your comment of the evening entertainment in order to improve this.

As to the food, we try to satisfy all tastes. I am suprised about your comment regarding the food temperature. I will check that.

The uniforms of the maids that you have mentioned, they were changed this year. They are the typical canarian dress. We have standardised these uniforms in all our THe hotels.

I will also gladly pass your positive experience of the staff to them.

We do hope to greet you again!

Returned home from this hotel in the 9th of September after a 10 night stay can't really fault anything except its a bit awkward to get to the local shops if you have a pram because quite a few steps to go down! Staff are lovely and when checking in made us feel really welcome they even loaned us a iron for the duration for free! Overall a lovely hotel and well worth the money :)

Dear guest,

Thank you very much for such a nice comment! We are really glad that you have enjoyed your hollydays with us and also hope to get the opportunity to greet you again!

As to the steps to get to the local shops, they can be avoided by going a little bit around. Nonetheless, it is good that you have mentioned that for everyone to know.

We are looking forward to seeing you again!

Just got back from a 12 night stay & had a great time, 8 adults & 1 child. Staff all absolutely wonderful including the Manager who you would often see walking around, not just checking up on things but also helping out the other staff eg picking up rubbish, how many Managers would do that here...! If you have even the slightest little problem she would do her best to resolve it as quickly as possible with the minimum of fuss. Food was great, when people moan about repetive meals that's usually because they go down the aisle taking a bit of everything, there was plenty of choice to have something different every meal time and there was even a gluten free section. The kids club was great & my 6yr old had the best time ever. Pools were good, cleaned daily & never had a problem with sunbeds even though we usually wanted about 6 at a time, although could maybe do with a couple more umbrellas?? Rooms very comfortable & maid service was 5 days a week. Grounds were kept very well & the only problem with mess was down to lazy guests who couldn't be bothered to put thier own rubbish in the may bins provided! Views amazing & only a short walk out the back gate to the shopping centre & beach. If you want lively then get a taxi from the back gate to Puerto Del Carmen, appox 5 euro. The evening entertainment was not fantastic but the team worked very hard & tried thier best taking into consideration that they had been working all day since early morning. Bar/restaurant staff rotated bewtween the two ares & worked extemely hard even when faced with queues they managed to get them down very quickly. I recommend you try the Ron Miel (honey rum) although watch how many you have as the shots are very very generous...! I didn't try the spa personally but my friend had good massage & my nephew enjoyed the gym. I want to say a huge thank you to all at the Morromar staff for helping make our holiday extra special & anyone reading this just remember 'your holiday is what you make of it'. Would love to stay again very soon xxx

Dear guest,

thank you for you comment! We are happy that you have had a good experience with us and that you have shared it with other Tripadvisor users!

As to the umbrellas, due to the strong wind we have had in Lanzarote, many of the new ones broke. Now we are planing another investment, this time with stronger umbrellas!

We would love to welcome you again!

All the best,

Just returned from a 10 day stay at this hotel, very pleased. The hotel is kept spotless, the staff are very friendly (a rare thing) Roberto was fantastic, alway's smiling to which I said to him, his response was, I'm alive :) food was good, alway's a good variety and choice and the restaurant staff kept it very clean. Pool was cleaned every morning and never a problem getting a sun lounger. Puerto Carmen is just a short ride in a taxi (5 euros) or you could even walk, we started walking back from there with the intention of getting a taxi on the way but realised it's not that far so walked all the way. Beach is just a 5 minute walk and what a gorgeous beach it is, again spotless. The room we had was spacious and the maids came in 5 times a week. I felt that the manager and staff genuinely wanted you to feel welcome and enjoy your stay with them. If you want to go to the market on the Sunday, I would recommend going into Puerto Carmen and getting the 4 euro return, we went to the bus stop near the hotel and by the time the bus arrived it went passed our stop as it was full so we missed the market, Thomas Cook wanted 15 Euro's an adult and 10 euro's for a child so going with them would have been 60 euro's for us as opposed to 20 euro's from Puerto Carmen, taxi would have been 28 euro's each way. There is a small shopping centre 5 mins walk from the hotel with a Spar shop, this was quite convenient for drinks if you want them in your room and very cheap, about 5 euro's for a litre bottle of vodka and the juice was about 95c for a litre and as the room has a fridge we felt that it was quite nice to have a drink before dinner on our balcony. Overall couldn't fault anything, take your hairdryer though as there are none in the rooms.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking 1 of the pools which was nice but can't really compare to the other ro...
