We have just had a week here, was a little apprehensive as not done AI before. Food was plentiful and varied. There was always something, the freshly cooked fish was nice. Drinks were a bit watery, didn't like plastic cups but realise why they are used.
The staff were all lovely, including the animation team, they all work very hard.
The apartments were basic but fine, good shower, big balcony with a sea view. Pool areas good, always got sunbeds, the lower level pool was usually quiet.
The location was good, a nice walk along the beach each day was enjoyable. We hired a car for a day and did the island tour independently. Its a lovely island, the terrain is stunning, the view from the northern tip is stunning.
The only probelm we had were noisy Brits coming back at 3am, on reflection should have complained. I realise everyone is entitled to holiday but should be more considerate.
All in all a good family hotel. Thanks.

Room Tip: request an upstairs room, then you won't be disturbed by revellers coming in late

My wife and I have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Morromar and in reflection we have had a great relaxing holiday. For a 3 star hotel it ticks all the right boxes and we were on the all inclucive option which we found the food varied and always something that we liked. The drinks were flowing and during meal times you could just help yourself.
The one negative was that there was no air conditioning and we missed this when we booked our holiday and while we were there it was so hot(30 degrees plus every day) we had to hire a fan to keep the bedroom cool on an evening.
The hotel is close to the airport and a taxi costs only 10 euros so don't bother with a transfer, just do it yourself.
A taxi into the old town and harbour costs only 5 euros and it is a lovely place to go to on and evening, even just to watch the locals playing bowls.
If you journeyed down from the hotel onto the beach front, the walk along the bars and restaraunts is also great at night and the cool breeze from the sea is lovely.
To sum up our experience, you get what you pay for(it is only 3 star and not 5) and as we booked our holiday at short notice we were really happy with the Morrimar hotel and its staff.

Pretty basic - definately needs some help in places.
Food was good, lots of choice and a nice layout in the restaurant area. Definately a family resort.
Bar area was busy at night and there was entertainment on each night (not the best - but ok).
Was a nice week and the local town was a pleasant stroll away. Some really nice art on the seafront. Room was clean but could of done with a lick of paint. It was nice to have the lounge area. We were worried as we were next to reception and above the shop - but it was really quiet at night. Our all inclusive option was good value. You are very near the airport (which kept the cost of taxi down) but we certainly we're not bothered in the slightest by planes - it wasn't intrusive at all. In fact it was quite interesting to walk via the sea front towards the runway.
Staff were nice & smiley - even when busy. Dont think I would of liked the location if I had mobility issues as the seafront is 10 minute walk - down hill in places, and its right on the edge of Puerto Del Carmen. The port itself is easily an hours walk along the seafront or short taxi/bus ride away.

Let me first say that Lanzorote is one of the best countries that I have visited and would return in a heartbeat just not to this hotel.

We (me, my partner and my brother) have just returned from a week 'All Inclusive' at the Morromar from the 5th - 12th September.

We did as most of the other reviews had advised and took a taxi transfer to the hotel, which was fantastic as we were there within 10 minutes of leaving the airport and it didn't cost no more the 10 Euro's.

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by an extremely friendly gentleman who gave us our room key and explained that he had upgraded us to a 2 bedroom apartment free of charge which we though was fantastic. We then dropped our bags off in the apartment to find that the décor was dated but I expected this as they do not differ too much from the photo's.

After unpacking we decided to go and get a bite to eat as we had a long day travelling and was all a bit peckish and this is were it all started.....we were greeted by children of no more that 5 years old unsupervised running around, touching all the food before returning it for other people to consume. They were climbing all over the worktop and using a toasty machine and just putting cheese in, it was a real mess. We quickly vacated this area to return to the apartment to find ants in the bedroom, in the bathroom and all over the kitchen worktops. We proceeded to try and kill them all with no avail so we decided that when we were going to dinner in the an hour or so to let the reception know. We went to reception and complained and we got the lady who is not helpful at all. She advised that she would send the cleaner down. After returning from dinner we find that nothing had been done apart from leaving a can of ant spray on the side.

We were told the rooms were cleaned every day bar Wednesday and Thursday. I am not sure what their view of cleaning is as all that was done was the beds made (no clean linen) and fresh towels. My partner swept up after the maids had been in and found more dead any and flies than i care to remember. Put it this way you could not walk round bare foot as your feet would be covered in dust and dirt.

As many people know Lanzorote is a windy country and therefore should be accomodated but we found from around 2pm onwards there was a loud whistling through the window. With a bit of filler or something this could be avoided.

The food at the Morromar was OK if you liek chips and salad. You had a choice of 1 meat and 1 fish each day. Apart from the different meat and fish each day the rest is the same. Breakfast is the same. Alll in all very boring.

I did not stay round the pool in the daytime as the chlorine smell was so strong it gave me a headache so we went into Puerto Del Carmen by taxi (less that 5 Euros) and went on their lovely beach.

I would say that if you are looking for a cheap hotel, just spend a little more and go somewhere else. I have stayed in 2 stars better than this.

Puerto Del Carmen is lovely and would return. We hired a car for 3 day and visited many places that the island has to offer and would recommend this to anyone who like to explore rather than sitting round a pool for a whole week.

I hope this helps.

Room Tip: Always stay on the top floor then at least you have not got people coming in at all hours drunk on t...

My wife and I returned from the Morromar on 13 September after a two week stay. Overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. We went self catering as we like to enjoy the local bars and restaurants but half board and all inclusive are available.
We went on a Jet 2 package and I e-mailed the apartments just after booking and asked would a sea view be possible as I had read from previous reviews that these were the bigger rooms.
We were not disappointed. On arrival a very pleasant receptionist checked us in and gave me the keys to our room which turned out to have superb views over the immediate area to sea.
The apartment had everything you need. A small kitchen area with a two ring electric cooker, kettle and toaster. A nice sized lounge area with pay to view telly if you like that sort of thing. An ample bathroom with shower and a nice twin bedroom. The apartment was spotless and the towels and bed sheets were changed on a regular basis. I was told that the bar on site was good and the entertainment also but as I already mentioned we like to explore the local entertainment and bars. I would certainly return to the Morromar in the future.

Room Tip: We were in room 114 which enjoys superb views over the sea and is quiet as well.

I have been going AI for circa 15 years now, so hope this review is viewed as genuine and helpful? This is not a 4* complex, but it is a very competent 3*. Staff are all reasonably friendly and helpful. More help at the bar in the evening wouldn't have gone amiss, but a small queue is inevitable when some clients insist on going back to the bar for the piece of apple their cocktail didn't have and they're not going to eat! Room safe: 12e/ week, 6e deposit. TV you have to pay for, didn't bother. Kettle & toaster and fridge in room. No Aircon! Rooms however, spacious. Beds uncomfortable, should have asked for an extra pillow. Left bedroom window open overnight, no mossies! View from the balcony, overlooking the pool was good also. On the flightpath for incoming, airport 2-3km away, but they took off the other way, if you know what i mean. Food was plentiful and if you eat anything, you are going to put weight on! It was however, quite repetitive. Pork is plentiful...lets just say in a fortnight, we ate out once because the alternative to liver was some sort of stewy thing. Two pools, both reasonable. Sunbeds available at all times, every day. Animation team tried hard but evening entertainment was weak. Drinks and snacks always available. Please dont say the drink was weak. you can buy it yourself. It's all about the quantity in the glass my friend!!! What they did have was drinking water, through a cooler all day every day, well i was impressed! Hired a car and did the majority of the island in 2 full days. If ur going to the volcano, get there early cos the car park is not huge and it gets busy. Well worth the 8e entrance fee. There is a small centre on the coast 10mins away for oriental food and Irish hospitality. Car and bike hire also available.
Turn right at the sea front and stroll for an hour to get to Puerto del Carmen central. Lively place, lots of shops n restaurants. Turn left and do the same to get to Playa Honda. Left being interesting as you are likely to get an Airbus landing 50ft above ur head!! Enough now, I enjoyed my stay, was very good value for money £1250 2pers/2wks all inc. Weather was great, which was the main reason for going!!!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in 318 and although near to reception was a very good location.

Star:
This is a 2 or at a push, 3 star hotel. Most of the staff are nice. There was a man on reception who could not do more to help. However the lady receptionist was the opposite -good luck with who you get. WIFI is an extra cost but most local bars offer free wifi.
Food/drink:
OK. The food gets pretty repetitive be prepared to go out for dinner. Includes: paella, chips, chicken, other meat options (always labelled turkey) over cooked vegetables, spaghetti, local fish. Puddings are bad- jelly, blancmange, little cake things and ice cream- (which has never seen ice or cream in its life- made up of just e-numbers with a really low melting point it made kids bounce off the ceiling). Breakfast is good: cheese, ham, bread, excellent eggs, something closely resembling bacon, beans, terrible “fruit juice”, good coffee, disgusting tea, fresh fruit, crepes. The meal times are long so theres no rushing. When its not a meal time there are snacks at the pool bar.
The alcohol is weak but free flowing. Served in glasses unless from the bar by the pool.
Weather:
The weather ( mid September) was glorious!
Location:
FANTASIC. DO NOT PAY FOR TRANSFURES- ITS 10MINS FROM THE AIRPORT (which is a quarter of the time it takes to queue up to check in to transfer and get to the coach).
If you go out of the back entrance you are 5 min stroll from the beach. Go right at the beach and you will find shops, restaurants and bars stretching a couple of miles. TIP- the further you go the cheaper the shops are! Recommend you get a taxi ( taxi rank just outside of the hotel) to the end of the beach ( will cost you 5euro including tip) and make your way back towards the hotel.
Pool:
The pools were lovely and well maintained. We had little trouble getting loungers but i imagine it would be difficult in busy season. Top pool -near bar, lively with music. Lower pool- smaller relaxed, quiet environment.
Rooms:
BAD. The apartments were clean and a good size but majorly out-dated. Decorated in the early 80’s, never updated. There is no air con and i can not stress how hot and sticky it was! The bath/shower was broken, tiles and mirrors were chipped, furniture was mended beyond its lifespan, tv (5 channels) and radio are about 15 years old, the beds are sooo uncomfortable, the pillows are like rocks the sheets are put straight on to the matrice- no protector or blanket so would have been sweated into by hundreds of people. The cleaners will sweep, make the beds and change the sheets 5 days a week. They don’t clean anything else. The curtains are broken and very thin so don’t block out light, due to the type of window you cant drape towels over them so you just have to sleep in the light.
Children
There was children’s entertainment day time and evening 5+ days a week. Including going to the beach and craft play, they were also entertained after dinner- dancing and singing in an attempt to tire them out. They had great fun.
Creatures
We had a couple of cockroaches in our apartment. They were dazed and i recon half poisoned by the hotel so were easy to dispose of. There are green parrots flying around which makes it feel very tropical. No mozzies or biting creatures at all.
Entertainment
If you go on excursions use the green company rather than the red/ orange one. Big price difference. The hotel entertainment was dire: karaoke, bingo etc. Goes on until about 12.00am. Problem is that the music is loud and keeps everyone awake. We just stayed up ( if you cant beat um join ‘um) but for those with kids or older -be aware there is no way you can sleep before they turn the music off.
Guest Nationality:
Mostly English. A few Germans. A few Spanish who shouted ALL the time. Mainly families and couples.
