“Good Value for Money”
Reviewed June 12, 2010

We went to Floresta appartments which are really in Playa de los pocillos next to Puerto Del Carmen. We were all inclusive and very good for value although it is a mixed german swedish and english they were very nice. The apartments are very spacious and are in good decor. The food is very good with great variations with breakfast, lunch and dinner. The drinks are of good makes. Entertainment was a bit poor and amatuerish. We went to the Anchor Bar in Matagador and a few other bars by the Sol Lanzarote Hotel. We had a loverly time and although we dont go back to the same place twice I would recommend this hotel. Get a taxi from airport only 20 euros there and back and very quick. We hired a car from the hotel hire company very cheap and very good

I have visited other Canary Islands and have to say probably enjoyed Lanzarote the most. It's less than 70km long which makes it easy to get around with short bus journeys/ organised trips or if you hire a car. The Floresta is on the road out of Playa Del Carmen, about 10 minutes from the airport (so we were dropped off first on arrival and picked up last going home - bonus!). We found that this was the same when going to Teguise market, Areciffe, Jameos Del Agua, Timanfaya national Park and Manriques house.
The Floresta Aparthotel is situated in Los Pocillos, on the outskirts of Puerto Del Carmen and ideal if you are happy to be in a quiet area but want to have somewhere to walk to for a more lively night or prefer not to stay in the hotel bar every night. There are some restaurants and bars very close to the hotel and the beach in Los Pocillos but whilst we were ther (end of May - beginning of June) it was quite quiet. Puerto Del Carmen is a good 25-40 minute walk depending on speed and footwear. A taxi to the centre from Floresta was less than 4 Euros and about 5 mins.
The apartment was large and quite well equipped considering some guests are all inclusive/ half board (fridge/ hob/ microwave). We were lucky to be tucked out of the way from the pool/ bar/ reception areas and although the view wasn't wonderful, it was really peaceful (great if you're a light sleeper). There was no noise from traffic (or from planes, despite being close the airport). The terrace/ balcony was large enough to sunbathe in peace on there when we felt like it which was nice. The reception were good - we had to print off the dreaded Ryanair boarding passes before coming home and the reception helped me do this by emailing them to her to print out. The rooms were clean and maid service good.
I have learnt that people complain about the food no-matter what but my opinion was that it was ok and about what I would have expected. There isn't a lot of variation but it depends what you like. I'm a vegetarian so always expect the choice to be limited. There could have been more variety but I understand there are not many vegetarians to be concerned about. I could always find something I could eat although it was very carb heavy - potatoes, pasta, rice, bread, then salad and veg, sometimes soup. Desserts were ok - usually some cakes and always ice cream, rice pudding, fruits etc. Although we were all-inclusive we like the experience of eating out so we did so a few times just for change. Prices in general seem cheaper than Gran Canaria which we went to last year.
The entertainment on an evening at the hotel was a mixed bag. There is always a kids disco/ entertainment for kids first and then singer/ dancers/ magicians/animal show (parrots/reptikles etc), and also movie song quizzes and bingo. You can sit outside the main area where the entertainment is - it's sheltered and dimly lit and rather nice to sit in view of the pool lit up on a night. Drinks we found were good at the hotel - for all-inclusive you can have pretty much anything free from 11am - 11pm but these are local spirits/ beer/wine. That was fine by us!
Staff were generally friendly - particularly in the bar.
Overall - we had a great two weeks and were blessed with hotter than average temperatures for this time of year. We like to try different things every year but this is one of the few hotels I think we would want to come back to. Mainly due to location. We saw some others in the centre of Puerto Del Carmen which looked run down and would have had a lot of traffic/ bar noise. Great hotel for couples and families who don't like it too loud and brash. Not great for young singles who want a busy nightlife.

We went to floresta on the 13th of may 2010 for a week. we paid £380 pp all inclusive. The value for money was excellent. The food was good, there was a big selection, hot and cold buffet, soup available and deserts too, plenty of fruit aswell. The drinks available were local drinks but they fine not too different to ours. i would reccomend you tip the bar men when you get there, they will really look after you!! the apartment was nice and very clean but the beds were very uncomfortable and you only get one pillow. we did ask at reception for other pillows and they were fine about it and gave us some more. the staff were very freindly and always smiling. the entertainment is quite poor but they do try. Overall i did enjoy this holiday and i liked the hotel and i am looking at going back there!!

stayed AI. Great value with 3 kids as drinks expensive. Not impressed with kids club. My 4 year old left to walk back to me at pool on her own from complex next door-- unbelievable!! Some staff very pleasant others when they realised you were AI didn't rush to serve you with drinks etc. (we reckon cos' they don't get cash tips with every order). The rooms were very pleasant and clean. the food was ok but not great!! Although there seemed to be plenty of choice, we struggled to get any food that was hot - only luke warm. Reception staff very helpful. the pools were very cold, even when the day temp was 24 degrees. Taxi from airport cost 10.00 euros each way. plenty of taxis outside airport ... would recommend them.

Great location not near all that tatty PDC, easy enough to get to, really clean, and lots of good tasty food... entertainment great for kids. Take a walk along the sea front in the direction of Matagorda for a lovely restaurant with nice food and great service think its called the Kinsale and the Rose of tralee is a good spot for a bit of breakfast with a friendly smile from the owners! Just keep an eye on your purse/wallet if your in an apartment.

My review for this apartment is quite mixed because there were some very good aspects. However, I will start with the Negative

We has 7 pillows between us to try to get a comfortable one/two pillows - Obviously when this hotel was re-furbished they didn't put new pillows in - They were either too hard - full of like a crumby texture - or vey cheap/nasty polyester which had gone lumpy. The bed was hard but I put two blankets under the sheet which made it slightly more comfortable. Hwoever, I was knackered after my 11 nights were up.

If you go all inclusive, the food and drink is very average - I don't know how some accommodation sites give it 4 stars as there was average choice - pork EVERY day. Also, the little extras such as brown sauce with breakfast spoilt it - I know that sounds petty, but I don't eat a cooked breakfast without sauce!! The otehr downside was that apart from the times when chef was cooking on the griddle - all the food was lukewarm or even cold. Very disappointed.

The spirits were the cheapest available and the vodka and brandy were undrinkable - although we got good value from the gin and Baileys copy!

They dont' tell you that you can get bottled water (only at night!!) so we were buying it from the shop - a minor annoyance as it's not expensive,

The TV only has Movies for Men, BBC World News and CNN in English, despite the fact that most hotels can now ger ITV3, and it only had about a 12 inch screen, which was no good in a large lounge for my failing eyesight!! Wasn't there myself for the TV but it may be important to readers of this review.

Have been to Lanzarote on many occasions and I think this hotel is comparable to the Don Paco Castilla behind it - the benefits of the Don Paco are very comfortable beds and £100 per person cheaper, although it is a little dated. We paid the extra for the supposed extra star but were disappointed.

POSITIVE: The apartment was large and we were given a southwest facing balcony, as requested on our booking form - Lovely. Would have been great for self catering, apart from the bed, as facilities were really good - however I took my travel kettle as they only provide a coffee maker - which I was aware of.

The cleaner was friendly and helpful with regard to the pillows although we did eventually give up trying to get a decent one!

Hotel in a good location - near to beach, shops and restaurants of Los Pocillos, but quieter the Puerto Del Carmen.

Bus stop and taxi rank outside hotel - don't book transfers- taxi is around 10 Euros each way.
