“very good holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

went for a week in December first appearances were very good had a nice welcome from Judith in reception asked for a high floor room in the palace side with a view by e-mail prior to going but the view from room 3351 was not great it had a big balcony but was overlooked by other rooms the room was very nice and Theresa did a great job at keeping it clean for us.We knew about the Asian, mexican from other reviews so booked for both. The Mexican was in the yaiza where we also had our breakfast and was greeted everytime by Pablo the Mexican food was good as was the Asian during the week we managed to get in both twice we did use the oasis but feel it needs 2 sittings for the evening meal it was a bit too busy for us.The bar staff did a great job and you didn't have to wait long to get served tried quite a few cocktails and the balantines whisky went down well we had a great week here and will definitely be back.

We spent a few days over Christmas at The Riu, probably our 4th or 5th time, We have stayed at about 10 of the All Inc. resorts on the island, usually for long weekend as birthday/anniversary treats and although we have 2 other favorites, I have to say that this hotel is outstanding in all its features. From the courtesy of the staff, always helpful, especially when I requested a rooms with a ¨ walk in¨ shower, not only was it provided, it was short a level walk to the restaurant/bar and pool area, with a pool view, Room 174, for those with walking difficulties. Food is outstanding, with the quality and variety lacking in some other 4* hotels and the lovely, hardworking staff are always smiling and willing to re-lay your favourite table. The gardens & pool area are beautifully kept and the Animation team are the best we have encountered in any hotel worlwide.
Top marks to the management for arranging for Father Christmas to visit on a camel on Christmas Eve, the kids were amazed and the all got a quality present from Santa !
Our one small gripe was the hardness of the bed BUT we were (on request) in a disabled room with an adjustable, (in height to accommodate wheelchair users) orthapaedic bed ,hence it was very hard . And just one small request to house-keeping, please invest in some new towels for the bathrooms, they are getting soooo thin and they are a yukky colour !! Otherwise 5* on all the important factors.

Room Tip: Ask for the Main (Reception) Club wing, unless you like total peace and quiet and a lengthy walk. F...

We stayed here for a week over new year and had a great time. The hotel was really nice we had a 1 bedroom appartment. All i would say babout the room is it could do with more plug sockets the only ones were being used for the lamps. So for example if you wanted to do your hair you were basicly doing it in the dark. Appart from that it was really nice. The hotel was all inclusive, im not a big fan of all inclusive holidays i have only done this once before in a 5 star hotel so thats all ive got to compare it to. The drinks including soft drinks were watered down. We took our 4 year old with us and there was nothing for her to drink appart from water as she doesnt drink fizzy drinks. There was a machine that had friut juice in but it was awfull. We ended up buying her drinks at the super market and carrying them round with us.
The food was just ok, although the new years eve gala dinner was amazing. We also tried the restraunts that you needed to book, the chinese and the mexican which were really nice aswell.
The complex was great and the heated pool was lovely and warm. My little girl joined in the hotel run activities every day. There was always something to keep her occupied.

Overall it was a good holiday but for the price we paid £1000 each (full price for 4 year old) the food and drink should have been a lot better

Stayed at the Paraiso mid Jan 13, firstly I'd like to say what a clean hotel this is, the staff all work so hard to keep the place nice and tidy, and we found the food very good, unfortunately the larger not so but that could be just me (Cruzcampo or some kind of ......larger) I would say the average age of the people there was 50 and this was a pleasant change, nice and quiet around the pool area, I would say half the people there were German and we didn't have a problem with this, they could speak more English than I could German so good for them ! We stayed in the reception side pool area but did venture out around the both parts of the hotel and found it all very pleasant and well presented. We didn't find the walk that bad from the far side and we came through the garden about 4 mins. The walk into town is not that bad its flat and takes about 15 mins, you could use the bottom gate and hail a taxi (if the green light is showing on the taxi sign on the roof) and that costs about 3 euro (£2.65) We went to town every night to have a couple of pints (Carling = 3 euro) and taxi back for supper 8.45pm then catch the 9.15pm show with a couple of shorts (old style measures which was nice). The show was not all that spectacular made up of a young animation team from Holland and Poland and the like, so any shows were mimed, although they did work hard as they did the afternoon work outs in the pool as well as the games so hats off to them. Our overall rating is a 4 out 5 because the beds were so hard and because I spent another 250 euros on larger. In total the holiday cost us £1450.00 for the week so not really a value break for us, but a very nice holiday all the same.

Room Tip: Use a taxi for your transfer 13 Euros. Ask for an extra pillow

my sister and i had a week in december at this hotel after reading very good reviews, i have to say it was indeed good. as soon as they saw my sister had walking problems they were good enough to move us to a 1st floor apartment. most of the staff were charming and very helpful. we asked for 2 more pillows and they were in our room when we walked in. the light went in our bathroom and they sent someone straight away to see to it. the food was well presented and even the choosiest of eaters would have found something they liked. the only negative side i could say is that it was full of german visitors and while that doesnt bother me in the slightest i have to say we did come accross one or two who seamt to have issues with us. bearing in mind this is an A/I complex a couple had a real go at my sister and i saying we were sat at there table. dont know what difference it made where anyone sat to be honest. needless to say my sister and i got up and moved to another table yo the amusement of the waiter who had told us to sit where we wanted when we walked in. not sure if im honest if i would go back or not. but dont want to put off other people going.

Room Tip: we were on the ground floor where the restaurants showroom bar and pool are all situated. good if yo...

Just back from a weeks stay at the Paraiso and was impressed with the hotel its location and facilities, we had a free upgrade to a bigger room . food was decent and plenty of choice and self service for soft drinks and local beer saves waiting to be served at the bar unlike other places.
would definitely reccomend it for a winter break
