“Disappointing!”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

My husband and I have just returned from a week on an all inclusive basis. The hotel building, decor, rooms and pool garden were all very good: beautifully clean and well presented.
Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but we felt that in general the hotel was short staffed in the restuarant and bar, and certainly we didn't get the 4 star "pampering" which we had hoped for.
On one morning at breakfast there were no cups, teaspoons or milk available and staff had to be asked to find them for us. There was no waiter service in the bar. Although there appears plenty of choice of food in the restuarant, after a few days it became very predictable and we actually chose to go out to other restuarants for several evening meals.
We also expected to have tea and coffee facilities in the room, which was not the case.
This was not a cheap holiday and we had hoped that a 4 star hotel would have made us feel much more special than this did.

I am just back from a weeks holiday at the La Geria, the accommodation is very clean and comfortable. The hotel staff are very pleasant. Breakfast choice is plentiful and dinner is OK not many choices but food is good. Entertainment in hotel is reasonable as hotel entertainment go. I did have an incident one night with one of the waitresses, there was a mistake with my bill and she made a scene in the restaurant that we did not pay for our water the night before it was a genuine mistake in our part and I don't think she had to make a scene.

Nice location and very close to beach, Plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars. Found 1 cockroach in the bathroom, had to put a towel under the door.

We went on 2 tours Fuentaventura and the south tour with Last minute Travel the courier Michael was excellent both days.

My wife and I had been staying in a villa and 2 days before returning home she slipped and dislocated her hip.We had to remain for 5 days after our return date to get fit to fly confirmation.I visited several hotels to try and arrange alternative accomodation for this period and found reception staff here most willing to sort out a room which would suit our position. My wife was on crutches and foun difficulty walking far. When I arrived to make enquiry Fran on reception was most helpful and understanding. When I returned the following a room was ready for us just across from reception and a lift just a few yards away.
During our stay we found the food in the restuarant to have a great choice and of a very high standard for buffet style. Also there was a good variety of fresh meats and fish being prepared at the "Show-Cooking" section.
The entertainment on offer on the nights I was there was excellent and much better than the usual bland hotel entertainment. There is a large covered seated area next to the lounge which was very welcome on a couple of the hotter days.
Our bedroom was quite large and the balcony was very large. The beds were very comfortable and there was a strong powerful shower in the bathroom.Cleanliness standards were excellent both in the bedrooms and public areas.
Lastly the reception staff, particularly Fran and Rita were prepared to go the extra mile.and due to our situation following my wifes accident I had to go to reception much more often to query re flight changes and times etc.and they were always efficient, pleasant and courteous and nothing seemed to bother them.

Returned on Saturday following two wonderful weeks at La Geria - cant actually fault it!!!!

Prior to arriving I e mailed the hotel asking if at all possible for a high floor room with afternoon / evening sun ( thanks to previous reports) and hey presto when we arrived we found our room on the fourth floor with sun from about 2pm until it went down. Fab!!

Room was lovely - clean and enough storage for two weeks - comfy bed - news and music on TV for when getting ready to go out at night.

Food - absolutely no complaints ( apart from the weight I have put on !! )

Drinks - Fab - never a queue at the bar - also dont be put off by the all inclusive menu it has about 7 cocktails listed - however when I asked for a Black Russian which was not on the list one was mixed for me immeditely. Be warned of LARGE measures !!!!

Staff - All wonderful - hard working and nothing too much trouble

Pool - clean and loads of sunbeds - some still available as late as 10am - oh and if you sunbathe and get yourself really really hot yes the pool will feel cold when you get in its a blissful fact !!!!!!

Entertainment - usual stuff - couple of really good tribute bands were Abba and Lional Richie. My only point to make would be a bit of music would be nice during the day perhaps just outside the bar area. Pool entertainment activities were great no pressure to join in and all levels of effort / excercise catered for.

Location - Perfect for us - Nearby shops and bars very low key - and only about a 30 minute stroll to the beginning of Puerto del Carmen which is from end to end about another 40 minute walk itselfas its a huge resort if you wanted to see it all - but very plesant and laid back - and the old town at the far end is also worth a walk to.
Top tip - if you are sports fans - out of hotel at beach gate and turn towards left follow shops around to The Anchor Bar - they have about 6 big screens and can have a different sport on each one - landlord takes requests and does all he can to get your sport /game on for you ( he cant fix the scores unfortunately !!!!!)

All in all we would definately go again , would definately reccomend it to others and would like everyone who reads this and who is going to have a fab time !!

Thankyou to all at La Geria for a great holiday XX

Have just returned from a 10 day all inclusive break at this hotel.First impressions were good. very prompt service when we arrived, booked in quickly and taken to our room, which was very clean on the 1st floor. With wine and fruit in the room.Nice touch. On checking the fridge no drinks were in it, as we were all inclusive l was surprised to learn that if you wanted drinks in the fridge you had to pay for them. There is a seperate bar menu for drinks for the all inclusive, plus the same for icecreams.l have never experienced this before.l asked for a bottle of water and was told that l could only have a glass of water otherwise l had to pay for a bottle. The food was excellant plenty of choice and hot,l had read on one tripadvisor report that the table red wine had improved to what it was, l dread to think what it was like , as it was pure vinager and not drinkable. On saying this l seem to be nitpicking , but it is the small things that do let this hotel down a little bit, otherthan this the pool was lovely, but the usual thing towells on sunbeds at dawn, although there are signs requesting you do not do this,it was very hard to find a sunbed.
The hotel is very understaffed, but all the staff that worked there worked very hard and they are a credit to the hotel. The entertainment was good, and we thoroughly enjoyed our nights in the hotel.
Just outside the hotel there are shops and bars,it is a good hour and a quarter walk to puerto del carmen, with plenty of shops and bars and eating places.Whatever you do do not book shuttle transfers from the airport, you can be waiting up to an hour, get a taxi its about ten euros.Overall the holiday was good, the weather perfect, and l would say to people try it for yourselves, as everyone has different expectations as to what all inclusive means.

Room Tip: If you want a room what gets the sun in the afternoon, ask for a room overlooking the pool on the lef...

This is my 4th stay now at La Geria. All the staff are very welcoming and very approachable. Mino on reception is as always very friendly and helpful.

The food is excellent as always and plenty of choice. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The location of La Geria has a brilliant seafront location.

The entertainment is good as always and 'Rui' and 'Tamara' during the day with the sports are excellent.

Will hopefully return in May 2013......

Just returned from our 1st stay at this hotel and must say we are already thinking of booking again for next year, which is something we wouldnt normally do. The hotel is close to the airport which costs about 12-15 euros in a taxi so no need for transfers, but being so close doesnt effect your stay.

There is a bus stop close by if you like to get around by bus, puerto del caramen is 2.60 euros for 2 people but only about 4 euros in a taxi, or 30 minutes straight walk.

The beach is straight across the road using the back gate and sunbeds on the beach are around 8 euros for 2 beds and a sun shade. It can get quite windy on the beach but they do put wind breakers up when strong. There are some shops and bars nearby but not as busy as Puerto del carmen. This is exactly what we were looking for so suited out needs perfectly.

The hotel is lovely, well maintained and cleaning is excellent. We found the staff excellent especially the reception staff (Mino & Rita) they actually make you feel you are not being a problem when you have a query.
We were half board and there is plenty of choice, morning & evening, food is cooked fresh in front of you (which may mean you have to wait) but at least its hot on your plate. Dining room staff are a bit thin on the ground, however the staff there work really hard to clear tables as fast as they can. They make the table up for every person, even at breakfast they use proper table cloths etc. Spoons and cups sometimes in short supply but you get one in the end. ( Not the staff fault).
The entertainment staff are all lovely and there is entertainment on at least 6 nights.
For children there is a small park and childrens room for drawing etc but as we werent travelling with children I couldnt stay if that is enough. I would stay this is more an over 50s hotel.

Pool is also lovely but this is my only downside. The hotel was quite busy on our week there (9th oct) and we found it has guests (more elderly) who go to this hotel on a regular basis who are reserving sunbeds and chairs from very early in the morning, this then has a knock on effect because by about 7.30 - 8am you cant get a bed by the pool and are then left with beds by the trees which means you are bothered by flys and shade! The hotel does state if beds left unattended for 1-2 hours the towels will be removed but I never saw this happen, certainly not from the guests who are there all the time.

All in all we went for a restful holiday and this is what we got, we had a lovely sunny balcony on the 4th floor overlooking the pool/sea so was able to sit in the sun even when no beds available. Had a lovely time thanks again to Mino for my materess!!

Room Tip: We stayed 4th floor and has lovely sunny room with view of pool & sea
