“Beautiful Bungalows - bit too quiet”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

On arrival at night we thought the whole complex looked really nice. Our 2 bedroom bungalow was near the back of the complex but this made for a very peaceful stay. The artwork around the complex is amazing and makes it very different from other places. No problem for anyone in a wheelchair or children in a buggy as plenty of ramps everywhere so there is no need to use steps. The bungalow was well kitted out with cutlery, crockery, a proper table to dine at and even an 'backyard' to hang out washing. The kitchen area was a bit small considering our bungalow could take 6 people and as our terrace was large, perhaps another couple of sunbeds would have been appreciated. The pool area is beautiful and relaxed and the gardens are gorgeous. There is noise from aircraft as they are near the airport but it isn't too bad. My only problem was that I think the complex needs a bar - would have liked to have got up from sunbathing and had a drink and maybe when coming back from an evening out - it would have helped get to know fellow guests. Also no rubbish bins around the pool if you wanted to throw something away. Although the complex offers bed and breakfast, the restaurant area looked uninviting. Most of the staff were extremely helpful even telling us where to ask for in a taxi (in Spanish) so we were taken to the right place and apologising for not doing money exchange. The area around the complex is very quiet only having the shopping complex within 5 mins walk. Nice restaurants nothing wonderful and full of English and Irish pubs which is fine if that is what you have come away for. You need to walk about 20 mins towards Los Pocillos along the promenade to find better bars and restaurants. I would return if they build up the area around the complex and put a bar in - other than that I am afraid I would want to go to somewhere a bit livelier.

Room Tip: Room B50 has sun on the terrace all day but very hot in the afternoon. Very peaceful room as at the...

Dear guests,
We are happy that you had a peaceful stay with us.
We are not considering to put rubbish bins around the pool because we prefer to maintain the area without an area of garbage, anyway, we take note of your opinion that is very helpful to understand the needs of all our guests.
For longer than 12 years we had a pool service bar, but very few of our guests used the service that we offer that is why we decide to create an area of breakfast that is appreciated for all our guests, and a social area that you can use after 11,00 o'clock every day of the year , us you know you have a supermarket open from 8,00 o'clock until 22,00 every day of the year as well, if you wish to buy some drinks to enjoy in the social area or in your terrace with your family and your friends, for the furnisher of the social area I completely agree with you that are not perfect , but there is a reason, we are waiting the container of the furnisher from the main peninsula and we hope to receive it us soon .
Thanks for your opinion about the service and the staff .
Looking forward to see you soon in Nautilus Lanzarote

Bungalows Nautilus is very recommendable. Nice bungalows, 2 pools (little children, adults), . Very kind and always helpful staff.

Whole place adapted for wheelchair users. Also good access to beach promenade.

Only 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Close to airport but not noisy.

We will return!!

Room Tip: Talk with receptionist. Tell if you prefer to stay next to pool and entrance or prefer behind. Nice...

Dear Guests:
We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. And, of course we will take note of the bits and pieces that did not 100% satisfy. Your opinions are very much appreciated as we are always looking for ways to improve. And because we are in an peaceful area, just 5 minutes of a taxi ride from Puerto del Carmen you could enjoy the peace of Nautilus, something that our guest appreciate very much. Next year we will be closed for six week for more improvement so hopefully we will be getting better

We hope to welcome you soon again

Location of the bungalows was very near to the airport which meant not travelling for too long after the plane journey and also not very expensive in the taxi 10euros. The beach was only a 5 minute walk away. The bungalow itself was very comfortable and clean but the maids were a bit slap dash and only cleaned to where the eye could see. One dip of the mop in the bucket did all the apartment! Kitchen was also supplied with all kitchen appliances.

When I made my booking I stipulated that I required a poolside room as I was travelling with my disabled mother and she couldn't walk very far. When we arrived our room was up a 2 sets of stairs. We asked 3 times if we could change the room but the staff wasn't helpful at all and said it wasn't possible. They put families with no disabilities in the poolside rooms so I think they need to look at their booking system very carefully. My newphew also booked a room which catered for disabled people but was also up the same stairs but he had a walk in shower so my mother stayed with him for the first week, then stayed with us for the second week, but we had a bath which was filthy and full of rust spots. I think our room with one other was about the only rooms not upgraded. The rooms that are updated are lovely

Dear guests,
Thanks for your opinion, we really appreciate it. It it always our goal to try to improve every day doing the best work than we can, being efficient and empathic; if we didn’t move you to a nearest one, is that really it was no possible to change other guests; in the case of cleaning, housekeepers do it 6 days a week.
In terms of the apartments all pool view are double bedroom apartments, if you book one bedroom is in the second or third line behind the pool, always trying to meet all needs when assign apartments. If you do the reservation for one bedroom apartment will be garden view.
In any case we hope to see you again and give the possible closest apartment.

Stayed here for 10 days with hubbie and 11 yr old daughter. We had a 2 bed roomed bungalow just beside the pool. The whole complex is perfect for family's with young children, elderly people and of course people with restricted mobility. There was a mixture of people staying and our daughter was never without a friend. Our bungalow was huge and we had more than enough space for us all, 2 very large bedrooms, 1 and a half bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook (never got round to cooking though!) and a large living area. Housekeeping came almost everyday except for Sundays and replenished loo rolls, towels etc. I have to state that housekeeping don't throughly clean the bungalows and don't wash dishes etc. I had to wash the floors myself a few times as it was never done by the cleaners so bare this in mind if you have toddlers crawling around. The poolside location bungalows are ideal so try to insist in one of these. Sunbeds around pool are plentyful. Pool was lovely and couldn't fault it. The Nautilus is about a 3 minute walk from the shopping centre where there are lots of bars/cafe's and restaurants to choose from so really no need to cook. There is also a Spar where you can buy anything you need including lovely frozen seafood. Also, we never paid more than 5 euro to PDC if you prefer more of a variety of bars and restaurants. There were a few things, in my opinion, that Nautilus management could do to improve which is why I give it the rating I did, and they are; not to charge extra for everything eg. 3 euro for a shower before you depart if you've vacated your bungalow earlier in the day, have ALL bedrooms air conditioned (they did mention in an earlier review to request this before your stay which we did and didn't get, it gets extremely hot at night), lastly (and as mentioned in other reviews) ,one of the the lady's at reception seriously lacks people skills, while she might be extremely good at her job, she lacks the requirements to be dealing with guests. Although nothing was a problem to the male receptionist, EVERYTHING was a bother to her. One last thing, a snack bar would have been nice, especially at lunch time. There is no bar in Nautilus, which, in our opinion was a good thing as one of the best things about our stay was the peace and quiet at night. Don't book airport transfers, a taxi only costs a few euro and the hotel can take bookings for local attractions for Last Minute, the local travel company which are ecellent. Overall, well worth the stay and would definately go again and recommend to my friends and family.

Room Tip: Contact Nautilus directly for any requests and would recommend a bungalow by the pool

We booked a holiday to Lanzarote as a surprise for my mum, who has limited mobility and uses a wheelchair. Nautilus bungalows were absolutely ideal for her, everything was flat or had a ramp leading to it which my mum really appreciated. Despite being fully adapted for wheelchair users we did not pay an extortionate rate (tip: book directly with the bungalows via their website rather than going through an agency- I first learned about them through a travel agency specialising in holidays for people with mobility issues and they were asking for an insane amount of money).

The bungalow itself was fantastic, very clean and modern and most likely recently renovated (everything was IKEA and not dropping to bits). My mum had everything she needed and I agree with other reviewers who say it should be classed higher than just 2 stars. We seemed to have a maid visit every day apart from Sunday, sometimes they were in a while cleaning/making beds, other times they just dropped off fresh towels. We had plenty of clean sheets and towels throughout the week. The pool was clean and there were plenty of sunloungers. There is a welcoming family atmosphere and other guests were of a variety of nationalities, loud boozy party goers would have looked very out of place here. And despite being designed for wheelchair users it wasn't full of elderly people (not that I have anything against elderly people but ironically it can be intimidating when everyone is 50 years older than you!)

So you may be thinking why just 4 out of 5 and not 5 out of 5? Just a couple of criticisms, mainly the fact we didn't have air conditioning and staying in July/August meant we were very hot during the night even with the ceiling fans on constantly. The shop, while convenient, was very expensive, as was the rental rates for mobility equipment. We rented a walker for 7 days which came to 56 euros which we thought was a bit steep but I guess you pay for convenience. We used the pool hoist for my mum, who hasn't been in a swimming pool in years and I think was quite looking forward to the experience, but unfortunately the seat stops just as you reach water level and doesn't lower you into the pool (not sure if this is normal as we have never used one previously). The staff were all very helpful and pleasant, particularly a gentleman who spoke very good English and several other languages it seemed. This is with the exception of one female member of staff who looked permanently ticked off for some reason.

Overall a very enjoyable experience though and absolutely ideal for disabled travellers, we would recommend.

really enjoyed the bungalows. they were very clean and hygenic. kids had a playground and mini golf right in front of the bungalow. there was a very large kiddie pool and a great swimming pool. they place was being done up while we were there, but it didnt effect are enjoyment of the complex. there was a very friendly male receptionist who was very helpful but some of the others had trouble with english. the shop down stairs was overpriced but handy if desperate for something in a hurry. but there was a good spar down the road in the shopping centre that was reasonable. there should have been more bins around the pool area. the cleaning ladies were very good but did put an ashtray in the sink with all the dishes.. very modern bathrooms and kitchens and well kept grounds.recommended pub near by would be the vegas lounge and restaurant would be sirroco. would love to go again

Just got back from 10 nights at Nautilus Bungalows and overall I have to say that the resort itself is impressive. The room we were given 'No 6' around the corner from the pool area was unique and different from every other bungalow on the complex in size(bigger) and design. Our bungalow was tastefully designed, with a private patio area away from the hussle of the complex. The kitchen had all mod-cons that you'd expect with self-accom but the fridge/freezer was useless and milk lasted 24hrs before you had to throw it in the bin, the childrens lolly pops bought on day 1 were still not frozen by day 9.... so be aware. The pool area was very nice, and kept v. clean but the decision to use dark tiles on the area around the pool is truely bizarre as at times they got so hot they were unbearble to walk on. The complex has a small but well stocked supermarket, but it is a tad expensive in comparison to the Spar located in the arcade across the road. The complex has a small childrens play area and crazy golf course which gives the children a break from the pool.

One of the main reasons we booked this resort was because of the restaurant on site. Now, to arrive at the beginning of the summer season to find that they're renovating the restaurant and for it to be out of service for the duration of our holiday without any prior notice was v.disappointing, and it has to be said, the timing is ludricous.

On booking our accomodation last November, we requested( my brothers family & mine) that our bungalows be next to each other. Now I appreciate that this can't always happen, but we were quite literally the furthest point away from each other that we could've been considering we paid for poolside accomodation.

Our final criticism occured as we left Bungalow Nautilus to go home. To some this may seem as nit picking, but to us, it peeved us off. We had asked the guy in reception to order us 2 taxi's to take us to the airport, as they arrived 8 of us waiting in reception picked up our luggage and proceeded to leave. Now, this chap on his own who was no more than 5yrds away never once looked up from his computer screen to either ask us if we enjoyed our stay, or to wish us a goodbye. Nice to see our stay there was appreciated, thanks very much.....

Dear Sirs,
Thank you very much for your opinion and impressions about our resort. We are happy that you enjoyed our VIP “Casa Artista” apartment. And in case if there is something wrong with the equipment in the apartment we always advise to our guests to come to the reception and we will send our maintenance stuff to fix (or to change) the item which is not working properly.
We should inform you that we are not going to have a restaurant. We advised to all travel agencies about it 6 month ago. We will improve breakfast service in our social room with library, table games, big screen TV.

As for the apartment’s position – we do no confirm neither the apartment number nor its position, normally our guests may do the request to the travel agency, we always try to do our best to full fill it, but they know that it is not a confirmation.
Anyway we hope that in general you were happy staying with us and we are looking forward for seeing you and your brother’s family staying with us again. For next time I wish that you contact us directly to help you in the best way that we can.
With the best regards
