“High Standard Spacious Accomodation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

Stayed here in August with family. Were upgraded to a villa which was spacious and had its own patio with chairs, table and loungers.
The rooms were big and spacious .Air con is only in living area but we found that there was a high wind when we were there at night so it wasnt hot. The entire apartment is of a very high standard as stated in other reviews
.The area is very quiet but has nice restaurants to eat in and nice seafront to wander around. If you want nightlife , this is prob not the resort for you .Equally it has little or no activities/entertainment if you like that sort of thing
I think it is ideally suited to adults wanting to chill out or families with children. However as I had older teenagers in my family there was nothing to occupy them and they would not recommend this property for this reason. They would be better in hotels with sports etc where they can meet others.
There were ants in our room, a few at first but they increased as the week went on and if I had been staying longer than a week I would have asked for them to be dealt with.It is difficult to control such a prob in the heat and otherwise the place was very clean.
Staff were helpful and friendly as stated.Clientelle almost entirely Irish and English.
Would return for chilled out holiday in the sun and recommend to others wanting a quiet location.Wouldnt go half board as plenty of reasonable places to eat in centre.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review . We do appreciate when our guests share their experiences on this forum, which is very helpful for future guests.
I am sorry about your problem with the ants. But really , I would like to point out to anyone reading this, that all you would have to have done is report this, and it would have been dealt with immediately. If you let me know by e mail ( Geraldine.mcfadden@gmail.com) what your villa number was, and your dates, I will look into why the cleaners did not notice this problem.
We get a lot of people who come with small children and teenagers alike. There are tennis and paddle tennis facilities on site. But I do take on board your comments about teenagers, and I would be delighted if you could come back to me with suggestions as to what you think we could add to make it teen friendly. Our half board offer is very hard to beat. 3 days for 50 euro per person. And we offer a minimum of 3 days on this, So you can do a mix of half board and eat out as well. Which seems to appeal to a lot of people.
Many thanks again for writing your review, and I look forward to hearing from you by e mail.

we stayed at costa sal in july.its in mata gorda away from the hustle and bustle of porta del carmen.but it is only a short bus ride away or 5 euros in a taxi.the hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly.we had a superior room which was worth the extra, but the 2nd week we upgraded to a villa with 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms a great kitchen and living space, plus our own jaccuzi on our terrace .the pool is lovely if a bit cold, but there were always people in it.we didnt eat much at the hotel but when we did the food was fine.there are several bars and resturants in the area where the food is lovely and not expensive.service was always good.the karaoke with tony was really good fun..all in all a great holiday and would definitely go back.only issue the sun loungers dont come with cushions, you can hire them.

Room Tip: superior pool view is great and the villas are excelent

Great that you had a good time with us in Costa Sal. I think everyone who upgrades to the Villa Suites is more than impressed, and it is lovely to have your own private Jacuzzi!
The pool is heated to the Health and Safety recommended temperature of 24 degrees. Of course the Jacuzzi on your terrace is more like a bath!
Glad you enjoyed the Bar and Restaurant and had an overall very positive experience
We hope to see you back with us again in the near future.
Thank you so much for writing your lovely review. Much appreciated by all the Team in Costa Sal.

Just returned from visit number 15. A great place to stay. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Our apartment had been upgraded to an excellent standard.

My only comments would be to add another towel rail in the shower room and additional parasols around the main pool area.

Parking available if you hire a car and very close to the local bus stop.

We will definitely be returning again next year.

Thank you.

So lovely to hear your enjoyed your 15th stay with us!
That surely speaks volumes!
We have added some more parasols in the last few weeks, and I have taken note of your comment about the rail.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We really do appreciate you taking the time to do this.

The Costa Sal has really lived up to it's reputation. Warmly greeted at reception and found the complex to be clean and well set out - the pool area is lovely and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. Gardens superb and well looked after by the hardworking staff. Our superior apartment was spacious, clean and modern with everything you would need in a well equipped kitchen and had a big bathroom with a lovely big shower. We had a sea view and wonderful views all over Matagorda. Bedrooms became very hot at night but a fan hired from reception soon solved the issue. As said in previous reviews the BBQ is superb and such great value for money. Every time we ate in the restaurant we found the food delicious and well presented. All the staff (without exception) were friendly and couldn't do enough for you - my kids especially loved Nicky! A special thank you to the manager, Geraldine, for her invaluable help to me and my family, so kind, caring and professional - a truly lovely person. Eileen x

Room Tip: Personally I would not want a ground floor - our room on the first floor (316) had a sea view

Just returned from a weeks holiday in the Costa Sal. On arrival, we were welcomed by a very friendly receptionist and directed to our accommodation. First impression of our apartment was poor - I was disappointed with our room (409). While the apartment was spotlessly clean I felt it could really do with an upgrade - the bathroom in particular. The shower was only just attached to the wall and the tiles could do with being removed. The bed (sofa) in the living area only just fit our 8 year old. The air conditioning was only barely working - the fan we rented was better!

The pool area and grounds were beautiful and very well maintained but as mentioned in other reviews the beds/umbrella situation is ridiculous. 2 sun shades at the lower pool is simply not enough and could be easily sorted. The sea water pool wasn't much better - I really could not believe the queue in the mornings for the beds - setting an alarm on your holidays shouldn't have to happen!

Can't comment on the food in the restaurant although it must be pretty good as it was always packed! Anytime we were at the bar, the staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. Overall we had a lovely holiday but I don't think it was enough for us to return.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished property.

Have stayed here twice before & have booked again for another stay in
Oct. The staff are extremely friendly & helpful & very accommodating especially when travelling with a small child. The apartments are spotless & very comfortable. They are very quiet at night, great for getting kids to sleep. There is a saltwater pool, great for relaxing in. Location is great, only 2/3 minute walk to numerous pubs, shops, restaurants & to the beach & promenade. Am looking forward to returning again in a few weeks

Took three children ranging in age from teen to eight on holiday here in July. They absolutely loved it and lived in the pool. The layout is perfect for them to make friends and feels very safe. The restaurant on sight is very good, especially BBQ night- a bit pricy to eat there every night though. Happy hour at the pool side cabin is recommended to make the Euro go further. The resort is very popular with the Irish because of word of mouth and seems to have a lot of repeat custom.
On the down side the wifi is abysmal and very expensive so cannot recommend this resort if this is an essential part of the holiday.
Insects were the only issue in that cockroaches are a part of life here. The staff are helpful in calling out exterminators if you persist in flagging up the problem. I had the impression that they wanted this kept quiet and was told that I'd brought them with me in a suitcase from the UK, despite seeing exterminators on sight going in to other apartments and despite cockroaches being rather absent from Gatwick. If customer service had been a bit more sympathetic and customer focused in handling this I would have rated it as excellent. On the plus side, not a mosquito in sight! And the apartments and complex is very clean.
Kids already pestering to go back next year because they loved this holiday so much. And only 10 minutes from the airport so you don't lose time in transfer.

Room Tip: More action for kids around the main pool but quieter around the smaller freshwater pool.
