“Good location Budget Apartments”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2013

I do agree with most of the recent reveiws, very basic apartments that need updating but we got the holiday for a bargain price so couldn’t complain. I would strongly advise a good set of ear plugs as you could hear lots of furniture being moved and slamming doors, I think it was just people not having much respect for other holiday makers and the cleaning staff, I would suggest asking for a room on the top floor then you don’t have as many neighbours.

Overall it was ok if you just need somewhere to sleep, the pool area was nice but we preferred the small beach down the bottom of the road, Playa Chica, it was small and very relaxing. At the bottom of the street heading to the port there is a restaurant called El Cangrejo Rojo it doesn’t look much from the outside but highly recommended the food and service was top class!

Playa Del Carmen in about ten minutes’ walk and there’s lots of shops, bars, amusements, etc. Our favourite bar was an American Dinner up from Route 66; there had live band on most nights and there where fab! If you like Chinese food there is a very clean and fresh buffet near the Hippodrome complex called Wok ?, it’s up a set of stairs, it was 13 euro each with lots of choice including the usual and sushi and fresh fish and meat to cook to your liking.

It was a good location and overall and fab holiday; I would recommend this resort for all ages, couples and families.

Room Tip: Top floor end apartment

cheap + cheerful, good supermarket underneath, badly needed cos the little pool bar closes around 4 which is crazy...a bit shabby on the main road outside because a lot of places are closed down, very convenient for the pubs + restaurants in the old town.

Room Tip: top floor for quietness, but no lift so would want to be fit...

Just returned from yet another visit to the Florida. Supermarket next door, short walk from little Playa Chica beach, lots of scuba diving there, These apartments are in the old town and there are quite a few shops and bars up for sale and it is a bit scruffy, but the Marina and harbour are lovely as are the harbour cats that live in the rocks by the boardwalk! Take some bread with you and watch the fish go mental ! The main strip where all the bars and restaurants are is a 10-15 minute walk away and has the usual selection with the usual hustlers outside enticing (or not!) you in. The accommodation is basic, but you do get toaster, kettle, microwave, coffee maker and TV (extra cost) . Depending on who's above you it can be very noisy from footsteps and furniture being dragged around and at 2.00 in the morning I'm thinking , Why? ! However it not a big issue depending on your tolerance level. Noticed this time they were very stingy with the loo roll, but if you ask you'll get, cheap enough in the Hippodino Supermarket anyway. Pillows hard and lumpy and a bit smelly, bedding definitely needs updating. Plenty of sunbeds pool clean and nice area.

Room Tip: All rooms similar, best would be ones with no one above you

Just returned from a week here in the La Florida, We had read many reviews and from past holidays we knew exactly where these were located, We loved the location but where worried about some of the bad reviews, however after a bit of research we found a person who owns an apartment here and rents it out to holiday makers, and this was a piece of heaven, exact same apartment as the others except that the furniture and decor was of superior, lovely soft beds, spotless linen and towels, 4 ring cooker and oven, washing machine etc .. the other extras was ceiling fans in living room and bedroom, and he has told us he intends to put in air condition that will be coin operated so if you use it you pay .. if you don't then you don't, We had beautiful sun loungers on our balcony, 42 inch plasma tv screen with DVD player and complementary DVD's, OK we paid €275 for our week here, but we had an option to pay €160 for the basic apartments, and this was worth every penny, pure bliss, everybody agrees this complex cant be beaten for location and the pool area, so if you want a basic apartment in this complex then you get it cheap, if you want 4/5 luxury then you pay a bit more for it ... for us this complex is the place to be, and for us the private apartments are the way to go ..

Room Tip: Book private .. The complex is excellent, some of the hotel/holiday rooms are dated ... Go private a...

I booked these after reading many reviews on Trip Advisor, so I REQUESTED a room overlooking the Pool & Sea as I was aware that this block was furthest away from the road, and the noise.

We arrived at 8pm and were booked in by a young girl, I asked her if we had been allocated a room of my request and she said she had not seen the room request, but that it was the head Cleaner who done the room allocation. I showed her the print out I had brought with me, and she said that we had been allocated a room with a lovely sea view, I asked her if it was on the road and she said no, it has a great view of the sea though, and if we were not happy to come back in the morning and see if we could move rooms.

So off we went to room 104.................. Which was, ..... on the main road!!

We unpacked as we always do on arrival, but regretted this the very next morning!

This was the room from hell...... Directly above not only a busy road, but also directly about the entrance to the main SUPERDINO supermarket below, in fact our balcony was directly above the main shutters to the entrance.
This meant that we heard the early morning cleaners arrive and got stuck into cleaning the floors using the big floor cleaning machine starting at 7am every morning, then the deliveries would arrive everyday, and also the frozen food deliveries with the big motor on top of the vans that was smack outside of our apartment balcony, pumping all of the fumes in for 45 mins while they unloaded the stock.

We were also not far from a Nightclub, but fortunately that was only open on the Saturday night we were there, but there was noisy groups of people in the streets till we got up for our flight at 6am.

If we had had a room in the 200's block of the 300's Block this would have been a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT review!!

We went to lie by the pool one day, which was located between the 200's block and 300's block and could hear NOTHING at all, no road noise, no delivery vehicles, no passers by, it was lovely and peaceful.

SO......... I would suggest, YES certainly book these apartments as they are in a great location, very roomy and spacious, towels changed at least 3 times in a week, and sheets once, maids every other day. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything that you need, nice pool and well maintained and clean.

JUST NOT ANY ROOMS THAT START WITH 100......!!!! :)

Room Tip: MAKE SURE YOU REQUEST AN APARTMENT IN THE 200 OR 300 BLOCKS these are lovely and quiet with good vie...

Second time back here and not dissapointed.
Requested a poolside and sea view and got it.
Spottlessly clean throughout.
Wonderfull little pool with sun all day.
Beautifully quiet and a stones throw away from the old town.
Fabulous.
Only tiny critique would be the hard beds, but hey ho after sampling a few of the cheap gin n tonics it wasnt a problem!
