Stayed mid March 2013. It was easy to find and had lots of parking. Rooms were as requested away from the main area and twin beds. We had a studio, which included a kitchenette, although we were on half-board. It was quiet while we were there but the walls were thin. Chalets 360 to 366 and 570 to 585 were overlooking the pool and were comfortable apart from the mattresses being 6 inches larger than the rather elderly bases and therefore it was hard to tuck the sheets in, resulting in twisty bed linen. The maids came 4 days out of 7. The meals were buffet style and there was always something we could eat and lots of it.
The pool near us was Not heated and too deep for even a tall person to stand up in, so not suitable for poor swimmers. There were two other pools near the dining area. One for children.
What was not so good was that 'extras' were expensive, access to the Internet was €25 for a week, or €2 for a session. The TV was €2 per day. The safe was €17.5 for the week. The last two requiring deposits as well. There were numerous cats, perhaps to keep vermin away, but there was a bit of a smell around.

The complex was about 10 minutes from town down a steep hill. There was a lovely cliff top walk to the next two villages; 2 and 4 miles away.
The staff were all helpful and the atmosphere generally pleasant.

We took up a Mercury Direct offer and found that the room we were allocated was one of the cheapest on the complex. MD met us at the airport with transport that turned out to be just for us. We had no way of telling them that we were hiring a car until we finally met the rep at arrivals.
Our room was over the road in Flora 1 (rooms in the 300 series) and as has previously been reported, it is the quiet side, away from the non-stop music and 'entertainment' in Flora 2. The room itself was very small and rather tired. The beds were very basic and the bedding well used. The headboard was suspended from the wall and rattled. The bathroom door would not close properly, the sink tap dripped and the bath from bottom of slope to taps was just 88 Cms (2 foot 10) long. I'm 6 ft 2!
The island has a serious water supply problem and toilet paper could not be put into the loo. A bucket was supplied (with no lid) so you know what to expect. Take air freshner as the cleaners do not work on two days of the week. There is no air conditioning and only one small window at the back. Lavatorial noises from either side abound, as did our German neighbours non-stop radio! The room was located round the very large, well maintained, unheated pool and only the brave venture into it. Be warned the shallow end is 1M95 and the deep end 2m20, not a place for children. There are two pools over the road, one of which is for the kids.
Buffet style catering has its drawbacks and this was no different. The food was only adequate and invariably on the cool side of warm. The catering staff worked hard, but this is the budget end of eating.
On the plus side - Auto Reisen car hire (4 door Chevrolet) for the week was EU99.
Negatives - Safe was EU17.50 for week with a EU15 deposit. TV was EU2 a day with a EU15 deposit for the remote! I never been asked to pay for an in-room TV before.
Biggest complaint. Place is overrun with cats (no mice though!) but they are ever present and spend half the day scent marking the entire area, thats when they were not being sick in the pool shower! I have photos, but will spare you.
Visits to all the main attractions cost EU 9 per person to get in, even the viewing point at Mirador del Rio wanted EU4.50 just to look at the view. Spectacular volcanic region a must.

Room Tip: You only get what you pay for. Flora 1 for a quiet life.

Just got back from another fantastic holiday, the management and all the staff never fail to please us,they cannot do enough to make your holiday really enjoyable, nothing is ever to much trouble, sadly the pool was to cold to go into, but it was early in the year so that wasnt to much of a suprise really, the food was brilliant as normal always something to eat even for the fussiest of eaters, the entertainment team are excellant, one person from the entertaiment team stood out from all the rest and that was DORY ,she did not stop whole of the 2 weeks we were there she worked so very hard to help you have a good time , well done dory and thank you for the sangria recipe not attempted it yet as only got back late last night but will.No need to pay out for taxis bus stops outside of hotel and across the road, texas ranch is a must only about 5/10 mins down the road by bus which is a free bus & stops across the road brilliant for adults and kids entrance fee app 18 euro for adults a good 3 hours enjoyment , already booked for next year. :) :)

Room Tip: If you want to go on any trips,go to last minute travel about 5 min walk down the road.

Just back from a 8night stay only one complaint is the beds they were so uncomfortable I ended up sleeping on the couch which was far better than the beds. Couldn't fault anything else, apartment was right infront of pool which was great for the kids. Location was great yes it's on a hill but its not as bad as what ppl make out my two kids had no problems walking up or down. My kids loved the club they did something different everyday even though there was hardly any kids around for it they enjoyed doing it and plus it gave us a little break from them!! There was a different show on every night which is good, a must see is the magic show kids were amazed as I was too. Parrot show was quite funny too they also had a reptile show which was a little creepy but was nice to see at the same time.
So all in all it was a lovely holiday
Well done to the animacion team!

As we always seem to be busy with our business concerns, we decided that we would take a much needed winter break in the sunshine. By the time we decided to take a holiday, there was very little time to research so we took one of the first places we found. This was a decision that could have back fired on us, but I am very pleased to say that we really enjoyed our time at the Flora.

We have three young children; six, four and two. We asked for a two bedroom apartment, for obvious reasons, which meant we were on the opposite of the road from the main complex. I read in previous reviews that the apartments located near the main complex suffered with the noise from the entertainment. Obviously, I can't comment on this as it was quite peaceful where we stayed so what I will say is, if you can, go for the two bedroom apartments to have peace and quiet.

The apartment was more than we were expecting; basic but clean and spacious for 5 of us. Although we were staying on an all inclusive basis, it was an added benefit to have a small kitchenette and dining area. It was nice to relax in the apartment and have the ability to make a cup of tea for example.

On site, there was enough for us to do. As we have three young children, we didn't really experience the entertainment so I have nothing to share for that. The kids didn't really want to go to the kids club either, so again, no comments there. As there were not many kids staying whilst we were there, the kids club seemed to be empty and not appealing to our kids. Perhaps it would have been different if there were more kids to play with; who knows?

We really enjoyed the benefit of the all inclusive package. It was bliss not to have to cook for a week. I did read comments that the food was not brilliant, but in all honesty, it was perfectly fine for us; no complaints in that department! I guess it is a question of what expectations you arrive with. For me, nice food everyday with a different theme each night; what more can you asked for?

This place is not perfect but then again, what place is? I think it would be unfair to rate this anything else than 5 based on our experience. As it was our first family holiday for a couple of years, perhaps we were low maintenance and just happy to be in the sun with no cleaning or cooking to do. If you are looking for the same, then I would heartily recommend a week here.

I am not sure if the management team from the Flora read these reviews, but if they do, please accept our gratitude for the lovely week you provided for us. The staff were very nice and we really enjoyed our experience with THB Flora.
