Lomo Blanco Apartments
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed June 18, 2010

Last minute decision to try and find some sunshine in March so went to travel agent and Lanzarote with Lomo Blanco was decided upon. We chose half board as it was only aprox. £20 each more than self catering.
Pleasant surprise to see we had an appartment, full facilities, two balconies and very nice outlook over the pool.
We had breakfast in the restaurant, this was cooked as ordered and a bit small on portion size. I think it's buffet style when high season.
Evening meal, strange menu not exactly clear what to order with the way it is written. Some things you could have as starters or main course. After a couple of days we got the knack, just ask what is available! The food was very tasty, but I did ask if they had vegetables on a few occasions as it was chips with everything.
Part of the menu had prices, so the guests self catering could also eat there. It seemed quite pricey so I think we got the best deal. I saw people carrying bags of shopping up the VERY steep hill, so I can imagine they had more to pay out than we did.
The beach was down the hill locally known as 'Cardiac Hill'. We found a gentle slope, if you turn right as you come out of the hotel.
The highlight of the holiday was the full island tour. 45euros each worth every cent. We booked with a coach company down near the beach. This included a lovely meal and a very knowledgable guide. Take plenty to drink en route if you go. It's a long day, 9am -6pm but brilliant.

We have just returned from the lomo blanco apartments and would like to say how much we enjoyed our stay there. We were a group of 25 adults and children from ages 3 years to 60 plus including 6 teenagers and we all had a great time. We were mostly staying in block B as requested and the apartments in this block were great. The two bedroom apartment in block A was clean but was a bit tired and could have done with a bit of updating-tiles were cracked and the bath was marked. Overall the apartments were clean, well equiped and comfortable with a fantastic shower and plenty of hot water at all times. All the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere around the complex. If we were returning to Lanzarote and staying in self-catering apartments we would definately choose the lomo blanco.

Returned from 1 week in the Lomo Blanco Apartments on Saturday 6th March 2010. Unfortunately we found the whole experience to be bad. Firstly, we were not allocated Block B on arrival, despite our request for same. When we arrived in our apartment in Block A we were very disappointed with the standards. The tiles were cracked and broken in all areas, the wall sockets were unsafe and hanging off the walls, there was very little lighting available, the bath was very marked and scuffed and generally you would say the apartment was run down. The towels provided were very old and pretty threadbare.

On our third day i.e. Tuesday, in the apartments, the safety desposit box was broken into and a large amount of cash was stolen. There was no sign of a break-in and when reported to the hotel they were not very helpful in providing a solution!. They were not interested and told the Thomas Cook representative who was extremely helpful to us that they were surprised that we had made a police report. Eventually two days later they confirmed that they had also reported it to the policy. They phoned our apartment and asked us not to say anything more about it!. They would not refund the cost of the safety box nor were the obliging in providing any information. On Monday my partner had been in the bathroom when the cleaner arrived into the apartment and when he came out of the bathroom the cleaner was in the cupboard press in the hallway which held the safe. She had the light on and when he came out of the bathroom she started doing some cleaning and left. It was not until the incident on Tuesday that we found this suspicious. There are NO cleaning utensils in this press so we cannot understand why the cleaner would be in there ....draw your own conclusions.

Overall we were very disappointed with the service, irrespective of the robbery, the apartment was not cleaned sufficiently every day. We only received one set of towel changes which were even worse than the originals provided. There wasn't even a sweeping brush provided to keep the floors clean by ourselves.

These are NOT 3 STAR apartments but only 2 STAR at best.

Whilst the location was good for the old town and strip we could not recommend that anyone stay here. The police also had suspicions regarding the robbery considering the circumstances.

We did enjoy the resort for a winter break.

We just returned ffrom Lanzarote on saturday. Despite a huge delay in the airport getting home we had a brilliant holiday and would defiently consider returning to Lanzarote.
The Lomo Blance apartments were pefect for us. We had a nice one bedroom apartment on the thrid floor in block B. I would recommened requesting block B as it is much quiter and more peaceful. Also the smaller pool is much warmer than the bigger one. I requested block B on arrival as i had noted it on trip advisor and would recommened the same to others.

The apartments were well kitted out with everything you would need. The beds were quite comfy and the cleaning service is daily and excellenly carried out. The bar staff are very friendly and althouhg the receptionists were a little snooty they were always on hand to help if needs be. We didnt go to much of the nightly entertainment in the bar area but we caught the reptile show by chance one night and had a great laugh with the hilariuos trainers. Good fun!

The apartments are in an ideal location, not in the middle of the strip but not to far away and not in the old town but again not to far away. There is however a MASSIVE hill to master before you get to the strip or the beach, ok on the way down but a killer on a full stomach!!

We went to the old town for meals most nights, easy to walk to and very cheap by taxi if your feeling lazy. There are some lovely restuarants there. El sardinero is right on the seafront and does some lovely seafood. El tomato and le tomatissimo are fab aswell lovely reasonably priced italian food. In fact price wise we found the old town to be much cheaper than the strip and the quaity of food and service much better.

Thats it really a lovely holiday all around. Go to the volcanoes its a great day out and whatever you do DONT get sucked in to buying electronics by the VERY persuasive salesmen. Its not worth it and we had a lucky escape fprm buying false goods.

Enjoy!!

Stayed in the Lomo Blanco with my husband and parents for a week in Feb and we had a lovely time. The apartments are a good size, very clean and the complex is very nice. We requested the new area (block B) based on reviews I had read on Tripadvisor and we got them so we were happy. We were on the 3rd floor so had a lovely view out to the sea. The smaller pool is much quieter and sometimes we were the only people there. I did look in the older apartments and they just looked a little older but I think they are still fine and a lot of the families rathered this block as its closer to the bigger pool and kids pool.

The one negative thing is that the beds are so uncomfortable, so hard! I was dying to get back to my own bed after a week. Apart from that everything else was great!

Oh PS we met people who had booked online with the hotel and got a much better deal then booking with a travel agent.

We have just returned from these apartments and would like to add our recommendation to stay here. The gardens are well maintained and the pool areas are lovely. There is a smaller pool outside Block B as well as the large pool outside ours in Block A. Lomo Blanco is positioned just up from The Strip (big hill!) and beach but also just around the corner from a very well stocked Spa and also a nice stroll from the Old town where the more interesting restaurants are. Also just round thecorner from the Shopping Centre which has a Zara, Bench, Mango etc to name a few.
Also there are 3 computers in the lobby so checking our e mail every day was easy.
If you walk in to the old town past the harbour where there is some re-building going on there is a lovely cliff walk -could be accessible for buggies etc but very steep. We did that a few times at sunset. Also found some Salsa at the Sala Bahia club which was at the far end of the strip but you could catch a bus there for 2 euros and a taxi back. Being in Spain it didn't start until 12 midnight but there were some great dancers and good salsa music.
