Stayed here end Sept 2012
Location of complex is well situated above the Harbour looking out to sea, a stones throw away from loads of bars, 20 odd coastal sunset view resturants plus many more, shops, shopping centre, and supermarkets and the main bus services, there is plenty of parking nearby for hire cars too.
Out and about
A 20-30 minute walk from the complex will take you to the 'Strip' where there is a long sandy beach with bars, shops, restrurants galore to suit every one.
Harbour offers a Waterbus to a nearby town and marina for 10E return - lovely way to spend 1/2 a day. Buses to Arriciffe, Puerto Blanca run every 20 - 30 mins catch at the main shopping centre. 6E to Puerto blanca for the market, marina, shops, resturants - could easily be a day trip.
Average prices beer and a wine 5E, dinner incl drinks 25-40E for 2 where ever we went
Complex is mixed use with what seemed equal measure of Timeshare self catering and package All Inclusive holiday makers.
Be advised it does form part of a steep hill and there is no level access, though all literature I have seen does advise it is not suitable for walking difficulties. That said it is 20 plus steps to the Reception/bar/pool from the street (level 2), over 80 steps to level 5 and over a hundred to level 6, odd number floors have a patio off the walk way with garden, evens have a balcony, both get the sun all day.
Check in is efficent if lacking in warmth. Reception also housed a guest library and internet access 1E for 12 mins, 2E for 30mins, plus an information guide to buses and attactions.
Pool seemed to be under used, did overhear comments of it being very cold. sun beds are gererally reserved by 9am, pool is adjacent to resturant so many bring down towels when going for breakfast, there is a limited number of fixed 'brollies' that said not one day did we had both every day.
Cant comment on the food, we did not eat there, however, we did see some menues and they seemed ok. there is an offer of a fixed price per course ie 5E breakfast etc, or £30 pppd for All Incl.
Bar area an indoor with stage for evening entertainment and outdoor which also served as an extention of the dinning room. There was very little atmosphere and after the 1st couple of night didnt use again, the daytime entertainment was only offered to the hotel guests and seemed poor, the evening was advertised as Kareoke or bingo style events.
Appartments (used for all guests) if self catering they are below what would be expected, only the absolute bear minimum of crockery / cutlery, 1 not so sharp bent kitchen knife, no scissors, no dustpan and brush and ONLY 1 SOCKET IN THE KITCHEN, actually it's not it is over the dinning table, under the microwave which is installed on a bracket over the table. only 3 people can sit at the table, you choose between tea or toast you cant make both. there are 2 other sockets, 1 by the bed and the bedroom door or by the patio door, applices would need to be on the floor! Full sized oven but only 2 ring hob. Remote control has to be hired and a satalite option is offered, safe is E42 for 2 weeks. Cleaning is done most days with bins emptied, floor swept, towels replaced ad hoc, sheets every 3 days or so... Cant think anyone would need more, the complex is kept clean and tidy.
Would I go back, oh yes but would request floor 3 or 4, its faults are easily over come by most people and there is bars and eateries so close that there is no need to stay in, would definately return to the area.
