“I wish I was still there!!”
Reviewed July 1, 2010

Had a lovely week staying at the San Antonio. Staff all friendly and helpful. Very very clean and tidy. Nice room, wonderful view and very quiet. Always plenty of sunloungers round pool. Sit and watch the planes coming into land but you cannot hear any noise.

Food ok. Some very nice, some very poor. You wont starve even though it did get a bit repetitive. Waiters like you to add your drinks to your bill. This seems to b because they are very busy and one night the manager shouted at one of the waiters for not clearing tables quick enough. The poor chap was running around like an idiot and we coldnt help but feel so sorry for him as all resturant staff worked very hard and were all lovely also going upto the bar area to carry on searving drinks late in the evening. resturant is not as strict with clothing as advertised. jeans and trainers are worn by many. the only thing they did not allow was men to wear shorts. it is advertised all around the resturant area so no excuses no to know. the restuarant manager actually shouted at a couple of blokes for wearing shorts!! it was quite funny... 'u go change NOW!!!' :) Pool bar did nice simple food but if you put it on your room bill they add a tip after each meal without telling you. this was about 3.6euros each time we ate. We didnt complain but it meant we did not leave tips for anyone except the cleaner who was very good.

They have a smoking ban in force like the uk and so i was a tad concerned if there would b anywhere to smoke as on the internet it is advertised as a no-smoking hotel inside and out but when we arrived it ws fine. smoking inside was not allowed but not a problem. Ashtrays provided on room balcony, on patio area of bar and all round the pool area.

Internet is avaliable as a wifi connection (never did get password though so unsure if you have to pay for password) in room just off main reception. also avaliable to use are 3 computers that take 1 euro coins to oppertate. 1 euro gives 15 mins internet. planty of time to check emails quickly!

T.V in room had a few english channels inc skynews, europsport, cnn new, bbc new, bbc parliment, radio 1, radio 2, horror films chanel, movies for men 1 & 2 and some chanel that show footballers wives non stop! was plenty ok to have as a bit of background noise whilst washing and changing for dinner.

Daytime entertainemt man great! Evening Entertainment different... !! Hula Hoop girl was excellent! Bar price very very expensive!!! vodka and coke worked out at £5.60!! had fridge and safe for week, 22euros for both. bit pricey but worth it to have cold drinks in room.

Pool towels for hire with a 5euro deposit.. if u loose receipt you wont get your deposit back!!

Room great, plenty of hot water and nice shower. takes a bit of practice to get it right!! toilet always flushed well!! beds comfy and it was great having carpet instead of tiles on floor!

would go back tomorrow if i could!!

Just got back from a week at San Antonio. Stayed there about 8 years ago and it hasn't changed much since then but it's still a lovely hotel although some bits could perhaps do with a little update. We did get a bottle of bubbly, water and fruit delivered to our room because we had stayed before so worth mentioning at reception if you have, it was a nice surprise.
The rooms are clean and the maid came round every day. We stayed in a twin side sea view room and we were overlooking a garden to the side which was lovely, got the sun on the balcony all afternoon and you could see the waves on the rocks to the side. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom but it wasn't much quicker than just sitting in the sun.
The staff are all really friendly and helpful, only problem we had was getting the safe in the room to work but I rang reception and they sent someone straight round who sorted it in 30 seconds. Didn't buy any drinks from the bar because we went out at night but got plenty of ice from the pool bar during the week for drinks in our room. You do have to pay about 12 euros for the fridge in the room so we decided not to bother.
Hotel was in a perfect location for us, about 5 minutes walk til you start hitting shops and bars and gets busier the further in you go. Takes about 20 minutes to get to the busiest bit but there are plenty of shops and bars along the way if you don't want to walk that far.
We only used the upper pool because that's just where we chose to sit and it was lovely. It was a bit cold but fine once you got in and got used to it. It was fairly quiet while we were there but we had no problems getting sun loungers anytime of the day.
We were half board and the food was fine, had different things on different nights but always old favourites for picky eaters. We're not really foodies but we thought it was all fine.
All in all I can't really fault this hotel, I would definitely want to stay there if I go back to Lanzarote.

Returned last week from SAhotel. Plenty has been written previously and I agree with most of it .The two weeks we spent there we had no problems with staff, food or room.
Good evening entertainment but expensive drinks(unless you come from Eire) but you dont have to buy to watch. 4.20euro for large local beer (3e for small). 75cls. bottle of water in restaurant 2.20euro and they like you to sign and settle at end of stay. It is a good tourist hotel with all the facilities you want and in a nice location. Do not think that the extra fo a sea view room is worth it, SSV looked fine to me.

Excellant hotel with very helpful staff, located at the Arricefe end of Puerto del Carmen right by the beach and about a 5-10min stroll along the fornt to the main beaches at Puerto del Carmen.
The restraunt was excellant and the buffet style food was of the highest quality with a large selection to choose from both at breakfast and dinner.
With 3 pools to choose from there was plenty of space even though the hotel was well over 3/4 full when we were there.
Activities are planned daily for most of the day at the hotel (except Sundays) which are aimed at children ad adlts alike with a show in the main bar very night.

We have stayed at the San Antonio before and returned as we enjoyed it, this is just some info that I would have liked to know myself.
If you want to hire the safe in your room it is 10 euro's per week.
The room is quite large with a very big double bed that was very comfy, quite a lot of drawers and a double wardrobe with twelve coat hangers, we asked for extra pillows and were brought up to us within the hour, as was a bottle of champagne and a bowl of fruit that the hotel sent up as it was my wife’s birthday, I can only presume her birth date was noticed on the her passport.
The TV in the room has a few news channels, two film and two sports channels as well as CBS that run old soaps like Dallas and Dynasty.
Save some weight in your luggage and do not take towels with you as you can get these free from reception for a deposit of 5 euro's per towel which will be returned when the towels are given back, these can be changed each day.
The sun beds and umbrellas are free around the pool but not on the beach as these are council owned.
There is a great area for kids with a park with a safety flooring of rubber and a pool for them just yards away and sun beds surround it.
We personally think the food is very good, for breakfast there is everything you could wish for, from a full English to continental and everything in between, coffee, tea juices etc. And four large toasters on the go.
The dinner is quite typical of a Spanish hotel, buffet service with various meat and fish meals etc. but there is also a different chef cooking a special themed dish each night, Italian. Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Paella and others that I cannot remember, a waiter comes to your table to ask for your I.D. card and tick’s it off to show you have had your meal then brings you what you want to drink, beware of the prices, a bottle of water costs over £2.
For those of us that like to lounge around the pool and read there is a book swap shop where you can walk in a swap or borrow a book or magazine.
Outside the hotel is a taxi rank, go down to the old town and the harbour at night as it’s a lovely area and the entertainment is very good, this cost’s about 5 euro’s, you could walk it but it takes about 45 minutes and quite steep roads in places.

Had a ggod time & weather was really hot, great for relaxing. The hotel was good however it is looking a bit dated & tired. The rooms were kept spotless & there was always plenty of hot water. The breakfast choice excelent but we were very dissapointed with the evening meal, a bit like school dinners & only ate there 3 nights out of 7. If they would only keep the food hotter, we did mention this to the manager but he didn't think there was a problem! ( my top tip of the day:- if you don't like your food cold FIND THE WARM PLATES.. it helps).
Overall the hotel is:- in a good position, quiet, clean, the pool is clean & the entertainment was... sort of OK!
