Very Old, and in need of refurbishment - the establishment, its staff, and the guests!
The best way to describe this hotel is to say that it offers a cruise type holiday, which has been stuck in the 60's, at poor value.
The rooms are dirty, mouldy, and smell of damp. The towels are old, and ripped. The room fridge stank of stale food, and the safe had to be paid for extra. The pillows were dirty, and the WiFi did not work properly.
In fact, each room gets a password, and reception has to set it individually. We had horrendous problems getting this set up for two of us, and the reception was so intermittent and slow, that I just paid data roaming charges to my UK network.
You have to collect the pool towels from reception, and swap it on a 1 for 1 basis. This is a headache, as you may be on your way out, and don't necessarily want to collect another towel when passing reception. The idea of tokens doesn't seem to have occurred to these people.
The food: plentiful in quantity, and variety. However, the quality was 7/10. They need to cut down a bit, and just give better cuts of meat, fresh fruit juice (rather than the fake sugar filled stuff).
The 'icing on the cake' was watching a guest eating his food, with his hands, DIRECTLY FROM THE PAELLA DISH. He was standing there picking, and no one cared.
Please also note that 97% of the food is non Spanish, and has been designed to be 'safe' for the non adventurous. The Spanish food is of poor quality (except for the prawns).
Finally, what seems to have been omitted is the average age group of the guests. I am 45 years old and I was probably 30 years younger than every other guest. If you're looking for a trip. This has all sorts of effects; for example the evening meal stops being served at 9.30pm, as the elderly tend to eat early. This also gave the hotel an atmosphere of an old people's home - which could be a positive, or a negative, depending what you are looking for.
Overall, I do not recommend this place at all, as it is EXPENSIVE for what it is. You can do much better.
FINALLY, a message to Trip Advisor: Why is it that all hotels within a 3 km radius of this one seem to have the same 5* rating? There is nothing to differentiate them amongst each other. Could it be, god forbid, that the majority of the reviews are written by other hotel owners, and reciprocated likewise?
