“Best meal of my holiday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2012

We have been going to Puerto del Carmen for around 17 years, and have been to La Cascada quite a few times. We have always found the food and service consistently good, and our two recent visits were no exception. The service is professional and the restaurant has a good atmosphere.
For vegetarians, La Cascada provides several dishes. I loved the spinach crepe so much I ordered it on our second visit. Husband had the Filet Mignon and the mixed kebab, which he rated highly. This place has always been one of the busiest restaurants in PDC, and with good reason.

“Great T-bone”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2012 via mobile

Went there twice on my holidays and first time there I tried the t-bone. What an amazing piece of meat and it was perfectly grilled. Second time there I came back for another t-bone :-) great and friendly service and can highly recommend the local Stratus wine. Especially the white.

“Dining at La Cascada”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

While I always enjoyed my visit to this Restaurant I have to admit that two out of three diners did not share the same experience. Both of us had fish as the main course while the third person had meat.

The quantity of fist served was on the small side and did not satisfiy our appetites on this evening.

The waiters also seemed to be in a hurry to turn over tables as quickly as possible.

“Don't fall for window meat display & interior-looks are deceiving-terrible food-even worse service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 3, 2012

We walked past this several times on last years trip so decided to give this a go last week. What a mistake. Lured in by the meat display and the menu that actually reads really well, this only resulted in a massive letdown. We were sat down quickly. Orders were taken and this is where it all went downhill. Starters of prawn kebab with parmesan fondue was completely overcooked, prawns tough and dry. Other starter of garlic prawns in oil contained 3(!) prawns rest garlic cloves. Certainly not value for money. Mains; chicken Jameson which is also available as steak Jameson. Sauce thick, far too salt, chicken dry. My own main was Iberian Pork steak, had this before elsewhere so know what it should look and taste like. Came out with jacket potato rather than the ordered canarian potatoes. When telling the waiter was cut of mid sentence just for him to take the plate away for it to be changed, obviously knew it was wrong already. Plate was returned no apology, now found that meat was blue/undercooked so back again, no apology. Finally came out completely dry and cremated. On both mains the veg was so overboiled that when gently pressing a piece of green pepper water trickled out. Get better hospital food. Two barely touched mains got picked up by the waiter, no question as to why so advised him it was extremely poor. Was only to be responded to in very rude and aggressive manner that I needed to take this up with the manager, rather than him getting the manager as one would expect. We did get hold of the manager finally, who didn't seem phased at all with the fact we were not happy or her staff was in fact downright rude and unfit for the job. Asked for the bill, took approx 10 minutes, in meantime same manager (as if the prior discussion hadn't taken place) had the audacity to ask if we wanted a dessert. Needless to say we didn't get one. Still waiting for bill now to be proper snarled and aggresively stared at by the earlier waiter every time he walked past. We just burst out laughing eventually cos there was nothing else we could do at that stage. Awful food, even worse service. The menu and place look so nice, so beware looks can be deceiving! Spoke to some friends who live locally and they told us that the meat in the display cabinets is just there for show and you get in fact a much poorer quality served. This in combination with a waiting staff and a chef who don't care at all about any standards of service makes this restaurant one of the worst I have visited in Puerto Del Carmen. Avoid. Godawful.

“The hanging Jamon”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 27, 2012

Lovely old world restaurant located on "the old town".Consisted of a series of different sized rooms with the main one featuring a row of hams hanging over the bar.Service, food and atmosphere were excellent and prices were reasonable.I would recommend it without reservation and would also suggest you book in advance for the best table in the best room.
