We booked recently at Morana and upon arrival were given an apartment down on the lower levels which could only be described as a dungeon....We went back to reception to complain and after half an hour of protesting we were eventually given an apartment slightly higher up the hill...which was only marginally better but at least it didn't overlook the dirty back of pubs and restaurants.
The woman on reception was rude and not very accommodating. She said 'you people who book on the internet are all the same, you book the cheapest apartment and then expect something better'. When we booked we weren't given a choice of apartment (on www.hotels.com). There are some apartments located up around the pool which look lovely and it appeared to us that these apartments were reserved for the bigger tour companies...So my advice is if you want to stay here, book via a big company eg. Falcon etc.
The pool area is quite nice, peaceful with lots of sun beds. One very good thing about Morana is Manuel and the little bar/cafe he runs at the pool. What a lovely lovely man....Couldn't do enough for people. Makes lovely snacks and the prices are very reasonable.
We stayed for nine nights and not once were our sheets changed. Having the apartment cleaned was pretty hit and miss...Some days not, some days it was kinda cleaned but never very well. The towels always smelled funny and the general attention to cleanliness was sloppy. When we were leaving I went to book a taxi and the same disagreeable woman wouldn't book a taxi. She told me there was no need to book even though we were planning to leave at 4am. I said I would like to book and she said there was no need. She also said that there was no way to get a 5 person taxi (despite the fact that we took one from the airport). I asked why and she said 'why? you tell me why?'. I gave up at that point, her attitude was awful. No care or attention for customers and everything too much trouble. We booked a taxi by going to the taxi rank and a taxi driver explained that 5 person taxi's are only available FROM the airport (fair enough but she could have explained that).
Wouldn't go back there again as there are plenty of other reasonable places to stay in Lanzarote. Oh and the hill is VERY VERY steep and not suitable for elderly people or people with buggys.
