“Secure, spacious, fab location but noisy and beware no air-con!”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

Firstly these apartments are on a very steep hill and aren't ideal for wheelchairs or prams. For anyone in reasonably good health it would not be an issue.
Upon arrival we upgraded to a sea view first floor apartment for €7 per day. Well worth the cost and didn't get any insects up there. Rooms are dated but very spacious, lovely big bathroom and shower but bad smell from the drains.
These apartments don't have air-con available but stay surprisingly cool and the strong Lanzarote breeze will come in if you're comfortable leaving patio doors open. Only problem then is that when the bin men arrive at 5am everyday laughing and shouting it WILL wake you up!!
The maid came 5 out of the 7 days. Towels changed every 2 days and bedding once throughout the week.
Best thing about Moraña is the location - opposite the beach and right in between old town and new town.
Hotel pool lacks atmosphere but pool bar food is nice and drinks reasonably priced.
Moraña is ideal for those looking for a clean, secure place to crash and who haven't gone on holiday to sleep!

We have just come back from a week's stay here. The location is excellent - 2 minutes walk to the main beach and about 15 minutes walk to the old town. The rooms are a good size, cleaned every other day. On the down side: it is supposed to be a self catering apartment, but the two electric rings in the kitchen took forever to heat up - impossible to cook even the most basic scrambled eggs etc. The pool looks lovely but no one could use it. My 11 year old son played in it for about an hour the first day then started screaming. You could see a horrible blistery rash coming up on his legs. We later found out that 3 other children staying in the apartments had had similar reactions - and these were just the families that we got chatting to. I complained to the manager who swore that the chlorine levels were ok and denied that it could be the pool causing the problem. Anyway, it was very noticeable that the pool was deserted. Sitting on the roof terrace you could see and hear kids playing in pools in apartment complexes all around, but not in La Morena. I would not stay here again.

The staff in reception were very helpful. The cleaning staff were excellent The room was
very spacious and airy. The location was spot on,close to the beach and all the bars and restaurants and only ten minutes from the old town.

What I liked best was the relaxing atmosphere of the whole place. It was our first visit to Lanzarote but it certainly will not be the last.

Very central location. Close to beach and strip. Walking distance old old town. No air conditioning in roms. When we booked, we paid an extra supplement for a room with a sea view. Unfortunately, the view did not match our expectations-ground floor, beside the pool, not much privacy and not much of a sea view. However, when we pointed this out, we were moved to another room that did have a sea view. One quibble we would have is that , in heat in the 28 to 35 degrees range, you do need umbrellas by the pool. Lots of sunloungers but umbrellas were extra. This was not good enough.

This was our 2nd consecutive year staying at the Morana and our 8th consecutive year in Puerto del Carmen - so clearly I can endorse the good words already spoken in regard to both the resort and the apartments. This year, however, we were caught up in the flight disruption caused by the unpronouncable Icelandic volcano and delayed for 6 days beyond our expected departure. As each re- arranged flight was cancelled so we needed to retain the apartment. The Manager and staff could not have been more helpful. They did not ask us to pay 'up front' or commit to a specific number of additional days as many hotels in the resort were doing - they just said to let them know when we wanted to check out. In addition they allowed me to use the hotel reception's computer and internet facility to save time and money and also so that I could print out the boarding cards. They arranged a laundry collection for us when we ran out of clothes and free loan of an iron when our laundry arrived back later that day. Without us asking they also gave us a 10% discount on the normal rate for the additional days we had had to stay.
When so many establishments were taking advantage of the situation, the staff of the Morana could not have been more kind and helpful. We loved the Morana before this happened - now we know that they deliver great customer service when things go wrong too - and that is what sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Returned to Morana after 6 years and found the complex to be even better than I remembered. Great location in Puerto Del Carmen along beach front and equidistant between old and new town. Entrance to apartments are at top of a steep hill coming from beach/new town and can be a struggle to get up. Pool area is lovely with a heated pool, well kept gardens, snack bar serving from 9-6, breakfasts, salads, sandwiches etc. All apartments seem to face sea and have seaviews. Staff very friendly and accomodating, we got an extended check out and use of a courtesy room to shower/change before our late evening flight home.
All in all excellent value, 45euros per night for 2 people and sunny 23 degrees weather for free!! Booked via Alpharooms.
Will follow up with restauarant reviews but in order of how much we liked:
No 1 : Quintins....40euro per head but amazing food
No 2: Taberna Del Nino in new town up street beside McDonalds...delicious Tapas.
No 3: Tomatissimo in Old Town, Pizza.Pasta,Salad..approx 25euro per head
Others we ate in fail to rate !! Some not so great touristy spots!!
