I had told my bf about Talima resort whom I was recommended to check out. I never reached it 4 years ago during my first trip so we made sure to make a clean getaway from the city for some R+R. A short boat ride from Mactan, hop on a motor trike for about 10 minutes on an island full of local prosperities in the villages and people. When we arrived, there was only one other couple staying at the small resort and we can see the mountains of Cebu being rained on as we sat next to the ocean feeling the suns rays on our skin. The bungalows are just the right size, the food is a collection of American, Italian, and of course Filipino. We spent the evening talking with the owner who happened to be over for a getaway as well, telling him how much we loved the place. Talima overlooks Mactan and Cebu island, perfect place for a day trip, solo, and couples. Diving with Muki the dive master is highly recommended as well.

The following day we rented a motorbike from one of the employees to cruise around the island and to spend some time at the bird sanctuary on the other side of the island. Now, we're no bird watchers, and some may find the walk quite boring, but it's far from boring, it's beautiful, peaceful, quiet, and worth an hour of your time appreciating the landscape of light colored sands surrounding the rock steps leading to a bird watch lookout point. When we came back to the resort, we jumped into the pool to relax, had a nice lunch and went diving just off the reef from the resort. Pretty convenient to get your gear, hop on a boat for 5 minutes, drift dive a wall full of aquatic life, get picked up, 5 minutes later back at the resort. 5pm we booked massaged from a local woman who gave amazing massages, had another fantastic meal before going to sleep in our room.

The following morning, we took our time hanging out at the resort before jumping on a motorbike back to the pier and heading back to Mactan Island. Well worth the trip for anyone wanting to getaway with enough to keep you busy and decompress, a perfect combination.

For those who are looking to stay somewhere affordable and not get lost in the all riff raff of a massive resort, this is the place. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: There are only 6 rooms available, which also include a beach house that holds 6 people easily.

Our stay at Talima Beach Resort was just awesome. The staff is really friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. The very clean pool is a very good place to hang around and to enjoy the sun. The beach beds offered a good opportunity to relax too.
The pictures on the website live up to their promise. Very clean and comfortable rooms.
Talima Beach was one of the best places we've ever been during our trip through South East Asia. The awesome dives just in front of the Beach Resort made it an unforgettable experience. We'd love to come back soon.

You can't go wrong staying at this resort! What I like best about it is its privacy, away from the hustle and bustle of your typical beach resort. It also seems to be the ONLY major resort on the island with a website and a booking system.

You can get to the Talima Beach Villas by ferry (you can take your own vehicle on board, helpful if you choose to drive around the island as well). The car ferry has three round trips a day from the Hilton (or Moevenpick) Pier to Sta. Rosa and back or the pumpboats that run more frequently. Travel time all depends on the ocean current, should be between 20 and 45 minutes max. From the Sta. Rosa Pier, just ask for directions. The drive should be around 10 to 15 minutes.

Rooms are of Western standard with a Philippine touch, all beautifully designed. You can hang around the room all day, swim in the pool (a jacuzzi is available as well), sunbathe, sit at the bar, eat at the restaurant (menu has a good range), scuba dive or during high tide snorkel in the sea for a fish sanctuary is located a few meters away from the beach.

This resort is absolutely a place for peace and quiet, it really was what I was looking for. I'd call it my little hidden paradise. Will return again soon!

VALUE 6/10 (For your P250 you'll get to use just the pool and the rather worn out cottages. I don't see a good value to that and they don't have WiFi.)
SERVICE 7/10 (The lady behind counter was warm enough in welcoming us and answers to our needs well. The food was even delivered in a short notice.)
CLEANLINESS 8/10 (The only advantage of the place so far is that it is maintained well. The pool's water is clear though you can really feel the chemicals use on it. I was impressed by the shower room I didn't expect it would be that big and clean though the water was a little slow.)
LOCATION 4/10 (Well... it is so isolated so getting there is grueling.)

The place will bore those travelers who are not into diving but will definitely cater the needs of those seeking for peace and solitude. It is now just a shadow of its former beautiful self. Some of the facilities is so evidently been slowly wasting away due to lack of maintenance. This is just one of those places I won't bother returning. It is still worth a visit!

We went to Olango island to visit the bird sanctuary. The villa we rented was great. Stylish design, clean, quiet. The staff was polite and very friendly. I recommend to go diving early morning because after around eleven lots of boats from nearby Mactan will be at the diving location. The sanctuary is awesome. For bird watching, go there during low tide (see the rare Chinese egret!). During high tide you can take good pictures (bring your polarizer!). You can order a tricycle to go there (P300 roundtrip). It's pretty far.
