We had a very friendly welcome from JC and his mother, definitely the friendliest we experienced during our week in France. Breakfast was provided at a time of our choice and there was a lovely atmosphere. Drawbacks would be no teatowel in the kitchen(we stayed in the apartment), lack of handtowels and no air con but these are small things. Handy spot for accessing the airport also.

My family had 4 rooms for 3 nights - the whole party was French except me.

One evening we didn't want to go out, but we were told it was not possible for us all to order takeout food and eat in the outside communal area - there were no other guests! The owner then set the table and sat down to eat in front of us - how rude!!

The rooms were tastefully decorated about 2 years ago - but have not been cleaned properly since. It would seem that they have an abundance of spiders, and they are more welcome than the guests!!

You cannot eat in your rooms - only outside, where the patio furniture is the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced. And please only use the pool if you are happy that the family's dog also uses it for it's daily bath! There was also dog excrement all around the garden that was never cleaned up - lovely!

We had a small baby as part of the party, and her mum was forced to wash her bottles in the bathroom, and only after a lot of persuasion was she given a sponge and some detergent for the job.

I feel that this is a very lazy family, that is happy to take your money, but want none of the inconvenience involved in sharing their home - we were made to feel most unwelcome.

If you are looking for a place for a quick stopover - one night - then please go ahead and book, as the only smiles are reserved for breakfast, and after 10am it is made clear that you should leave.

Each room is full of the owner's attempts at 'art', and I mean every room, and the bathrooms are tiny. Our room had wood panelling throughout including the bathroom, but none of it had been sanded or finished, and I was in fear of getting a splinter each time I needed the loo.

Each room was allocated 1 toilet roll, 2 sachets of Nescafe, 2 teabags on arrival - these were not replenished! No water, no welcome tea or coffee - but they did provide insect repellent plugs.

This could have all ruined our holiday - but we were stoic, and did our best to go out as much as possible.

A Chambres Dhotes is supposed to be more than a B&B, it's supposed to be a place you share with the owners. For this reason, it is over-priced and does not fit the description - how disappointing because it could be lovely. Oh - and it backs onto the Golf course - but you can't use it - it's exclusive with huge annual fees, and holiday makers are not welcome!!!

Room Tip: The rooms with balconies are much bigger.

Thank you for those very constructive comments,

By the past we used to put a guard at every window every night to avoid spiders, but we realize that you really enjoyed spiders so now we will directly put them before guests arrival !!

I'm also happy that you like our dirty rooms, by the past i used to clean them but now i just don't clean beds and bathroom ! and our guests are very happy, me too because i'm so lazy ! I can spend my time counting my money ( your money )

We tried to stay here during our 1 week trip to Bordeaux. We lasted 2 nights and then changed accommodation. The "hotel" is actually a few bedroom in a family house in a residential neighborhood, so it seems a bit overpriced for this. A friendly welcome with a nice breakfast. However, 2 key issues caused us to move. 1. As someone else wrote, there is no soundproofing. Every move you make on the 2nd floor results in a floor squeak. 2. The RULES: You cannot eat anything anywhere on the property (including cheese, snacks, etc). Not inside, not outside---aside from the included breakfast. You cannot drink (e.g. wine) or eat in your room. All drinks must take place on the balcony. Unfortunately, the drink issue may not seem so difficult until one tries to sit comfortably on the balcony furniture- this is not possible.
Bottom line: We were looking for a home to relax in at night for our week in Bordeaux wine country. We planned to come home at night, drink a bit of wine and eat cheese and pate. This is not possible here. Thus, receiving a poor rating as we found this environment to not be relaxing at all, but quite stressful. If you just need a relatively affordable stay over, then it could be fine.

This is right, there are rules at Cocoloba's BED and BREAKFAST:
1. Say hello and eventually please,
2. Don't require an espresso when everybody drinks coffee,
3. Don't walk through the room all night long drinking Porto,
4. Don't melt Bed n' Breakfast and picnic area, laundry, open bar, four stars hotel...
5. Leaving without paying your all booking in high season,
To resume: the rule is good education.
