Found didima to be great value for money.. the location is excellent. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food where a bit disappointing and over priced. Found the kitchen and cleaning staff being friendly. But the reception staff not so much. A beautiful place to enjoy nature.

Good starting point for hikes in the mountain area Cathedral Peak (Drakensberg), ca. 3,5 h drive from Durban. High standard cabins. We had one with kitchen site which made it easy to start hiking early in the morning (breakfast starts first at 7 am). In March it can get very hot during day, and in the afternoon there might be some rain. Experienced hikers (and Norwegians ;) can do the hikes without a guide. Bring water and a map both available at the camp store.
The view from Didima camp towards the mountain range is amazing (see pics). The road from the highway to the camp is good, no need for a 4WD.
There is a small swimming pool for a after hike swim. Food is good, service a little slow. Room service included and they wash your dishes!

Room Tip: Ask for a front line cabin facing towards Cathedral Peak.

We stayed at didima over Easter after hearing about its magnificient location and after not finding accommodation in the apparently better Neighbour_ cathedral peak hotel. And boy we did not rue our lost chance.
The place is situtated in the valley right in front of the cathedral peak. I found the location of didima better than its rival. The facilities are good for a camp which can be made a base for your hiking trips in and around. However, I felt that the place lacked in some of the amenities that assumed to be standard with hotels of similar grade. But if hiking is what you looking to do the you won't miss anything.
What stood out for didima is the privacy one can afford in the form of its unique chalets, the best views of the peaks and the living in the lap of nature kind of feeling absent in the neighbouring hotel. However the food was something that we thought could be better. So if you are looking to spend some romantic time or wrap yourself around mother nature then this place is not to be missed.
Tip: take the chalets furthest from the reception. And don't miss the moonrise and moonset.

The accomodation and views at Didima met all my expectations from the photos on Tripadvisor (apart from a small detail: the safe didn't work). However, the customer service and the restaurant were disappointing. From the receptionist's refusal to lend us 2 wine glasses (to drink wine that we purchased from their own store), to the huffing and puffing by the restaurant staff about getting change when we paid for meals in cash, we were not impressed by the service. Also, diners beware, there is a vast chasm between the menu descriptions and the reality of the meals that are served. Unfortunately, the descriptions set high expectations that the kichen simply cannot match, for example describing multi-pack hamburger baps as 'home-made rolls'. The food is pretty average and over-priced for what you get, you may be better off self-catering. Breakfast is the exception as they offered quaite a good spread. A staff course on courtesy and customer service, and an overhaul of the restaurant, and this could be a great getaway destination.

Room Tip: Go for the self-catering option!

Stayed here with friends. As many have said, the location is fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. Did not have any problems with the staff, we found them friendly and helpful. To be honest, we spent most of our time out walking and the hotel was just a place to stay, eat and admire the view. Can't be touched if those are your criteria :)
