My husband surprised me last weekend by taking me to the Drakensberg for our honeymoon. What a wonderful and amazing place. Beautiful scenery, friendly people and amazing food. Absolutely loved it! We enjoyed every single minute. Incredibly helpful and polite staff members assisted us throughout our 4 day stay which was just too short. But we will definitely go back and visit again. A special thanks to Elanza for assisting with all the arrangements and giving us a beautiful room. Theo for your friendliness and assistance and to all the staff members for making our Honeymoon at the Drakensberg Sun Resort so special :-)
Thanks Morne and Mare de Jager

Room Tip: Bottom and corner suites are large and sunny :-)

Drakensberg Lifestyle Resort is a excellent holiday destination for families. There is lots to do for young and old. If you like adventure and adrenaline the the Canopy Tours is a must. The hotel gives you a 20 % discount coupon to use towards the Canopy Tours which makes it more affordable to take the whole family. There is always a holiday programme and entertainment especially if you have small kids. We went in Sept this year but i prefer Dec / Jan because although the weather is lovely, the swimming pool is too cold in Sept.

I recently enjoyed time out with my husband to Drakensberg Lifestyle Resort. We have a 5 month old daughter and this trip provided us with an opportunity to recharge our batteries and to bond after the daunting task of being parents.
We were nestled in the mountains of Drakensberg and enjoyed the mountain view. We also had a great time at the hotel and the food was nice. it was a nice quiet time.

Feeling tired and needing a recharge we headed off the the amazing tranquil draksun and once again had the most amazing time.Darren Moore and his staff go out of there way to ensure all your requirements are met.The food ,rooms and service are all out of the top draw, and the upgrades and improvememts that have been made over the last year has certainly boosted the draksun to the best berg resort. The friendly efficent entertainment crew also match the incredible service we were treated to,cant wait for a return visist

Room Tip: rooms on the 3 rd floor have lovely views and easy access to and from the dining room and bar area

I really was so impressed with this hotel. My wife and I went there for our one year wedding anniversary, and as the costs aren’t over the top, I must say that I wasn’t expecting too much. I was wrong. What the hotel lacked from an aesthetic point of view, the employees, property gardens & restaurant more than made up for it. The hotel manager made sure that there was a special surprise for us in our room when we checked in – rose petals, sparkling wine etc – it was amazing. The restaurant had every type of food that you could want – sushi, roasts, fresh fish etc.

All in all, I have to say that this hotel exceeded my expectations. We were looked after really well, the room sizes were more than adequate, they were clean and we had a fantastic weekend. We will certainly be back.

Room Tip: the superior room was great - over looks the gardens and the lake

We approached our stay at the Drakensberg Sun with a little apprehension having read a variety of reviews. What a wonderful surprise awaited us from the moment we arrived until the morning we had to reluctantly depart. Our 1 bedroom unit (129) on the ground floor was so very very nice, we even had a 42 inch flat screen TV in the lounge and a 32 inch flat screen in the bedroom. We didn't need much TV as the view from right outside our unit was magnificent, looking down on the braai area and the lake, and looking up to the magnificent Cathkin Peak in the distance. We braaied twice and were totally awestruck by the wonderful views all around. We ate in the restuarant two nights and were so impressed at the variety and quantity of food on offer for the Carvery at R195 per person, spend a long evening there and enjoy it all.
Our holiday was made complete with a wonderful afternoon spent at the Drakenberg Boys Choir who also happened to have the University of Joburg choir joining in with a 70 minute performance of their own, a truly enjoyable experience.
We looked around the area at other resorts and were convinced that the Drakensburg Sun was very hard to beat, so to those reviewers who had negative things to say I ask "did you go to the same place as us" We thought it was brilliant and will definately stay there again

Room Tip: Ground floor units mean you (or the kids) can walk out onto the lawns

Amazing does not even describe this destination in full!

From the minute we walked into the hotel, until the day we departed, we were treated as if we were VIP's!

The food, rooms, views and service is of superior quality! We also received a free welcoming platter and sparkling wine, honeymoon gift and honeymoon turn down service!

Absolutely spectacular!
