I have eaten three times over the last few weeks at The Kings Arms and enjoyed the food, the real ales and the friendly atmosphere. The freehold of the pub has recently been taken over by a new landlord. Over the last few years this village pub has had it's ups and downs with a variety of tenants. It seems to be making a good start as an independent pub. The fish and chips were especially delicious and good value at £7.95. The nice piece of haddock with beer batter, chunky chips and mushy peas was excellent and great value. I can also recommend the gammon which wasn't just slightly thick bacon. The gammon steak was about 2cm thick and beautifully cooked. There is always a selection of real ales. I prefer the blonde ales and found the Hophead very pleasant. Black Sheep Bitter and other guest ales were also on offer. I've also had Sunday lunch which was £6.95 for two courses. I had roast beef and my wife had roast lamb which were both good. The huge Yorkshire puddings were exceptional. This was served with a dish of fresh vegetables and tasty gravy in a gravy boat. Areas for improvement are the limited deserts and vegitarian options but perhaps it's early days. This is a traditional pub, inside and out. It has benefitted from cleaning up and a bit of care. Well worth a visit.
