“LOVELY HOTEL”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Our room at No. 4 was an exceptionally clean, bright. comfortable room with plenty of space and excellent facilities. The en-suite was very clean and modern. We found the staff to be warm and friendly. This is an excellent hotel in a good location with easy parking. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and look forward to a return visit.

We were rather puzzled at the entrance to Number 4 when we had to ring a mobile number but a man came straight away and led us to the annex opposite giving us our keys. The double room was very clean, quite large, with en suite bathroom, wifi connection, TV etc The linen and towels were excellent. There was not a lot of shelving in bathroom for toilets bags. One had everything one needed and it was good vfm at £50 for two. However, I did not get a good night's sleep due to banging doors at about 1am on the landing (needs a sign on the door to keep people quiet). Also one window had no curtain yet and it let in too much early morning light. We were half promised for "a deal on breakfast" but they were refurbishing so they could not deliver that. We got a good breakfast nearby at Weatherspoons from Sunday 8am where they directed us. B£B came in at £58 for two. They might include breakfast when renovations are complete. In that case, I would use Number 4 again, but otherwise maybe not.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room with curtains - and breakfast thrown in.

On arrival, I was a bit uncertain with the building work being done on the restaurant below. Looking at the door, to gain entry a phone number had to be called as it isn't manned 24/7. Fortunately for us the owner turned up before I even got chance to get my phone out! Impressive! He took us up to the room which was also previously a restaurant and has been split into rooms. Our room was number 6 and with a beautiful church view through period windows I though I was in York looking over the minster! Very clean, modern, well decorated room, lovely bathroom, complete with some gorgeous shower gel! All the little touches made this room. Hairdryer, decorative accessories, mini kitchenette (a toaster would have been great though!) and a very comfy bed! I can't rate this hotel highly enough!
