Description: A JD Wetherspoon pub serving a variety of food and drink, Seven days a week. This pub is named after the stone cross which marked Retford's southern boundary in medieval times. The base of the southern cross (the Dominie Cross) was later moved to Market Square and became known as the Broad Stone. It still stands in front of the Victorian town hall, not far from the Wetherspoon pub in Grove Street. Grove Street was added to the town plan in the 13th century, when it was known as New Gate. During the 19th century, it was the location of the town's annual horse fair, held in March.

Met up with some friends for a beery catch up session.

A good selection of well kept bitter (not always the case at a Wetherspoons). Manager made time to have a laugh with us.

Food was good value for the money.

A lot of Wetherspoon pubs seem to be frequented by single male drinkers, usually knocking back pints of wife beater till they have trouble walking. Whilst there were a few of these over the course of the afternoon it was a very mixed crowd with lots of small groups which has quite honestly helped me regain my faith in the chain.

All in all, I cannot think of a negative

A little off the main beaten track, but worth a visit. Can be busy, and the children's area can be noisy. Outside courtyard nice on a sunny day but beware all the smokers! Typical good value food from Wetherspoons and the staff are all great. A little dark inside but if you can get a table in a good position, worth a visit.

We decided to eat here after work as a quick bite to eat.
Two meals (Lasagne and Burger & chips) with two drinks cost only £10 which was great value. The pub itself has a relaxed atmosphere with the interior cosy and traditional. We sat in the beer garden which could have been spruced up a little bit with plant life! Service was pretty good and efficient, shame that our dessert was left a while before coming out as half of the ice-cream had already melted.

You know what you get when you go to a pub chain like this, not gourmet, but for the price, great value.

This is a JD Wetherspoon pub in the town of Retford. The pub is quite large and has an outdoor area at the back which would be good to sit in if the sun was shining.

Typical Wetherspoon food, I had the sweet chilli noodles which were really good value at £3.40. They were quite hot and spicy - just the way I like them. My husband had the Mixed grill £8.59 and this came with a free drink. All good!

Waffles and coffee for pudding. All portion sizes were good and food tasted very nice. The staff were friendly and the venue was clean. I would definitely go back.
