This is a lovely place, and provides Retford people with a really nice restaurant rather than pub food, but it's not snooty or formal, but friendly and welcoming, with some of the nicest staff we've had the pleasure to meet, lovely ambience, and beautifully cooked food. We were surprised to find every table full, even on a Tuesday evening, which is great, this restaurant deserves to succeed. Retford needed somewhere a bit special, ideal for celebrations etc or just a really lovely meal out, and this is it. We can't praise the staff highly enough, all of them were welcoming, professional and knowledgeable. We'll be back.

A group of us ate here for my brother in law's birthday a couple of weeks ago. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and with the added charm of Christmas baubles looked lovely, inviting and intimate. The service was warm and friendly and the waitresses accommodated a couple of our party who wished not to have the sauces with their mains. We stuck to mains and desserts, and my pork belly was wonderfully crispy and the veg nice and not overdone. The pudding, a tiny rich chocolate pot with shortbread was divine. Wine great, and portions just right. Shame I don't live nearer!

We have been to no 5 twice now and have booked again for next week. we have been for special occasions, they serve a lovely champagne Pol Roger which we particularly enjoyed. There is a wide variety of choice on the menu the quality of the food is excellent and well presente , we all had different meals and all were equally enjoyed by the recipient.
The service is understated which we like, we were neither hurried nor did we wait long for the meals to be served, we were not rushed away after our meal. We would recommend.

This is a nice restaurant in Retford and has a decent fixed menu offering a number of choices which are seasonal. They serve decent sized portions of nicely cooked food and the staff are friendly enough staff, although some were happier than others.

Parking was a challenge unless you had local knowledge. There are a number of pay and display car parks in walking distance, but a bind when its raining. The place is definatley not disabled freendly. My wife was on crutches and phoned in adance to make sure she would be okay to visit and told it wasnt a problem. Then when she arrived she was faced with large steps to get into the building which were a struggle.

The restaurant was very hot and whilst they had fans covering some parts of the restaurant, we were tucked away under some stairs because it was a busy night and the temperatures were shocking.

Thank you for review - We are glad that you enjoyed your meal but sorry that you found cetain aspects of your visit disappointing.
Being in a town centre we do not have our own car park but there is now disabled parking right out side the door and general parking all along the street in addition to various car parks nearby. I would recommend that disabled visitors let us know if they are having difficulty parking and we will allow them to park in our staff car park at the back of the restaurant.
I agree the restuarant was hot in the summer and we are looking at air conditioning for this summer.
We do hope that you will visit us again and please contact us if you require help with parking.
Kind Regards
Liz

I was staying in local hotel for a weekend wedding, and my friend and i went into Retford to look for a restaurant. we came upon this gem of a restaurant, and with no booking made the lady who met us accommodated us, for which we were very grateful. The meal was absolutely delicious, presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. The staff were kind and helpful. The restaurant was very homely and comfortable and the whole experience there was enjoyable. Will definitely visit No. 5 again, but this time will make sure i book in advance. I would highly recommend No. 5. A big thank you to the lady who found us a table and was so accommodating. A credit to the establishment.
