A beautiful stone bridge with statues on its side. Lovely view to the castle and the river.
Highly recommend to stop for a moment in this town.

Stopped to admire the bridge as I had heard of it. I have visited Charles bridge in Prague and could not resist walking on this one. Such a sense of history. The bridge feels ancient and makes us feel miniscule. Beautiful.

The Stone Bridge in Písek in the Southern part of Bohemia, Czechia, is even older than Prague’s most famous Charles Bridge. Almost destroyed by flood in 2002, but carefully reconstructed to its original appearance, gives a beautiful scenery at any time of the day. The riverside is pretty clean and its construction allows to take beautiful photos of the bridge from different angles. Certainly must have a stop here to breath the local atmosphere.

Beautiful old stone bridge from 12th century that apparently was the inspiration for the famous Charles Bridge in Prague... close to the main town square and an ideal place to start your tour of Pisek.... very much an "underrated tourist town"

This is a very nice old bridge, and reminded us of a small version of the Charles Bridge in Prague. There are also some very pretty and clever statues in sand next to the bridge that are changed regularly. The town itself is very nice too and has some beautiful old buildings.

The oldest stone bridge in Bohemia, probably a century older than the Charles Bridge. Beautifully restored and maintained and completely empty! , without a crowd of tourist.
Go to the town Písek

This is the unofficial name for the bridge. According to a story in the middle ages it was decided the bridge would be called after the first person to cross it after it was built. The first to cross the bridge was a stag from a nearby forest.
The bridge was built in a Gothic style. The interesting thing is that it was build with no river underneath it, the river was lead into the new channel under the bridge later on.

Nicely maintained and over a small river with statues this bridge of course cant beet the Charles Bridge, but its close to it. You can feed fish from it :-)

Even though Pisek is not so known, it actually is really beautiful and has what to offer for a few hours trip.
You will find there also this beautiful (but pretty small) bridge. It’s the oldest standing bridge in Central Europe.
