Premiere Classe Dunkerque Sud - Loon Plage

we tend to use the Loon-Plage Premiere Classe & the DFDS Dover-Dunkirk route as a cheaper alternative than the, to be honest, more convenient Brittany Ferries Portsmouth-St.-Malo route. The hotel provides a decent overnight stop-over for our return to the U.K. & a break in the journey from N.W.England on our outward trip. Yes the hotel is starting to look a little tired, the rooms need a refurb. & that may well be in Louvre Hotels' future plans, but it's conveniently situated, cheap, next door to the Campanile where you get a 15% restaurant discount by voucher from the Premiere Classe so what's not to like?

We arrived late on a Saturday having already booked. The room was terrible, the window didn't shut properly, the bed had been moved around so where headboard should be was a huge light fixing. Bathroom was mouldy and smelt awful. Never again, shame as stayed at others in this chain that have been great,

I meant to book the Kyrid on the same site, however somehow booked this. It had .3 better review than the Kyrid (normally good hotels) so I went with it. I should of known when the price was so cheap on check in, but I went with it. I spent 1/2 in the cupboard, sorry room, looking at the cigarette burns in the mattress and blankets. The rust on the shower cubical door leaving sharp dangerous edges was alarming, I lay on the bed and to its credit was quite comfy, however after a short while my skin began to feel like it was crawling and I could take no more, so I left & booked into the campanile next door that is perfect.

Stinks of cigarettes and drugs, grumpy receptionists, tiny rooms, paw prints up the door, room smells of dog litter, shower doesn't work, bed had poo stain on it, door wouldn't shut.

Absoloutely terrible

Don't go

The location however was good. Good car park to sleep in your car!!!

Room Tip: Room 14-a no go!

In August we stayed here twice one going and once returning , we have stayed in Premiere classe hotels many times and when u have stayed in one you can say u have stayed in all of them small rooms smaller bathrooms very small thin pillows no lift , but it is close to the ferry port and you get free wifi ( why do you never get free wifi in the UK) and for one night you can put up with it and it is one step up from the formula 1chain

Room Tip: A short ride away in Grande-Synthe is auchan supermarket and a great restaurant flunch great value

We needed a place to stop close to the ferry port as we had a long journey ahead of us. I remembered staying in this hotel some years before. The hotel has not had a lick of paint since I last visited and now seems extremely tired. Meals excluding breakfast are in the hotel next door and are not great and quite expensive. Breakfast in the hotel was cheap, but extremely meagre.

My biggest complaints were that you could not shut the door of the bathroom because it was blocked by the bed, and because of the built in shower tray in the floor of the bathroom, any use of the shower led to a flood in the bedroom. It is cheap, but definitely not cheerful. Dreadful pillows, and not great mattress.

Like most people staying here we choose it because it's the closest hotel to the DFDS ferry terminal. It's about a five-minute drive but you'll probably need a map or satnav to find the hotel.

Reception was staffed despite it being outside the advertised hours. There was a machine for checking in if there had been no staff. The receptionist spoke English.

We were cycling and were told there was no where to store our bikes. Outside there wasn't even a lamp-post to tie our bikes to. The receptionist told us to keep the bikes in our room, but this proved wildly optimistic on his part since there was only about one square metre of floor space in our room not taken up by the bed.

The theme of our room was 'small'. The bed was small (but reasonably comfortable), the table was small, the TV was small and so on. The ultimate expression of this was the shower room, which was a portable unit that had been craned into the room during construction - there was just about room to turn around inside. Although you would normally only see these units inside caravans, the shower worked well and it was clean.

We didn't try the breakfast (there's a boulangerie in the centre of Loon Plage about a kilometre away) and it seemed no one else had either since the (small, obviously) restaurant was empty.

We paid €46 for one night, so I would say this hotel is poor value for money. The architect should be banned but the cleaner should be given an award - everything was spotless in our room.
