“A real must is Saisons restaurant at l'Institut Paul Bocuse”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

I only booked our 'Friday lunch for two' about a week before we went to France but I would ring earlier to be safe, (February can't be a peak time so we must have been lucky). It was absolutely fantastic. The students (as someone below also said) are nervous in the sweetest way and are very willing to please. While the food is sensational, the value is phenomenal - we paid about £100 for two for haute cuisine amuse-bouches, starters, mains, puddings, wine, cheese and coffee. Guinea fowl was one of our mains; halibut the other. Puddings - one was an amazing Masterchef-style tarte au citron with vanilla ice-cream and the other a praline mousse choux bun affair. It felt luxurious and it's in a sort of chateau, in a very grand, high dining room, with lots of function rooms and wine cellars and kitchens nearby. We were the only tourists there - it was all French people enjoying a nice lunch out. This was very very memorable (and we are fussy) and our waitress even came out from doing from the kitchen to say farewell when she saw we were leaving. It's closed Wednesday evenings and weekends. We rang to book.

“An experience worth having”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

This is an experience worth having for any foodie.
It is a MUST.
The food is turned into a piece of art with the taste to match.

The staff, including the serving students were very friendly and accomodating.

You must book weeks if not months ahead.

“Sophisticated, charming, and great value.”
Reviewed June 8, 2011

We have now been for lunch and dinner twice, and each time the service, food, and decor were all fabulous. Because the wait staff and kitchen staff are students, they are charming and eager, and so, so, nervous (in the most adorable way). The food is ambitious and the menu is well thought out, which is such a treat for a foodie. The somalier (whose name I wish I remembered) was kind and enthusiastic. His pairing suggestions were exactly right for every course. The two menus are set to include either two or three courses, and with amuse bouches and other little tidbits along the way, you will be completely satisfied whichever menu you choose. There were some dishes that were more successful than others, but that is what we expected at a culinary school. If possible, ask for a quick look at the kitchen, which is a true teaching kitchen in gleaming stainless steel. Just a great experience and well worth the short drive to Ecully from Lyon.
